Crab Lungs Posted 30 June, 2009 Share Posted 30 June, 2009 cranie is crap and will never make it as a prem player...will be a mediocre CCC player at best Not at right back, but alongside a strong centre half he *might* have a chance IMO

The9 Posted 30 June, 2009 Share Posted 30 June, 2009 He's about as much of a premiership player as Martin Cranie and that defender who went on to greater things at Manchester City (name escapes me) who promptly fell off the radar. Surman would have been more than useful in L1 but he's kidding himself if he thinks he's going to set the Prem alight. There again I wouldn't have believed that Delap, Fuller and Jones would have done much there, based on the crap they dealt up down here! As the great Jimmy Greaves said, "It's a funny old game!" Delap played 5 seasons in the Prem before he even joined Saints, so I'm not sure why it's such a shock to you that he's up to that standard ? Fuller was with the Skates up there for a couple of seasons and Jones was clearly Prem quality from the point he started attacking the six yard box for Saints, and had shown plenty of potential from the point where Sturrock first picked him up front for Sheff Weds. Matthew Mills is the other player you're thinking of. Doncaster's Player of the Season in their most successful season ever, finishing half a division above Saints, and they beat us at St Mary's. Hardly "off the radar". So slate Surman by all means, but at least come up with some decent examples of ex-Saints players who actually AREN'T Prem quality (like, say Pericard and (ha, this will start a row!) Leandre Griffit...
The9 Posted 30 June, 2009 Share Posted 30 June, 2009 Didn't the Coventry deal go down to the wire? The game of poker still has some time to play, irrespective of the consequences it seems. Players can be replaced as can a mediocre coach. The main concern is that the club survives and then has some money to pick up some players and a good coach to not get relegated. Coventry avoided administration by one minute. We are already IN administration...
eurosaint Posted 30 June, 2009 Share Posted 30 June, 2009 If Saints do go down at least it will mean no more Saints Web Forum "I'm better than you" posts that either troll for a response (and succeed in this case) or look to keep the divided fan base divided. basically I'll be able to get through the day reading a lot less **** from ****s. a very small crumb of comfort I guess that there won't even be a 'Saintsweb' anymore ???? BotleySaint Posted 30 June, 2009 Share Posted 30 June, 2009 To be fair the 3 players leaving have all received offers that are hard to turn down. Even if we want them to stay- if they want to go then we've got accept it and move on.

Bucks Saint Posted 30 June, 2009 Share Posted 30 June, 2009 OK i agree that as yet he hasnt failed, what i meant was that should the club liquidate then he should take some blame. However, my uncle is an administrator and e has told me that it would be completely unnacceptable in his company if it had taken this long sorry but thats tosh. there is no set timescale for an Administrator to sell any business: it takes as long as it takes. If there is a buyer, willing and ready to proceed at a sensible price, for which they have proof of funding, Fry will bite his hand off. If the buyer(s) are not willing, ready, or able to proceed, and / or dont have the funds, it is not his fault. Although he is probably very frustrated this has not happened yet, he can keep going as long as he thinks a sale is still possible and the costs that he is incurring - not much at the moment as he is not paying wages - are justified, compared to the potential sale proceeds that he will get. He has a legal duty to do this! I dont work for them BTW, but I have dealt with Administrations personally

Leandre Griffit... Well if you'd actually been watching Delap, Fuller and *****il his last dozen or so matches) Jones playing at St Mary's irrespective of any prior performances, you would understand perfectly why I would be suprised at their (relative) success in the premiership. I've never heard any player receive as much abuse (most of it warranted) as Delap in his last couple of seasons. As for Doncaster's "player of the year" - I suppose you're citing that as evidence of Premiership quality are you? You may have noticed they are a run of the mill CCC side - hardly Wigan let alone Hull! I stand by all those I listed with the exception of the last few weeks of Jones. I can't disagree with Pericard and Griffit - the start of what could be quite a long list!

eelpie Posted 3 July, 2009 Share Posted 3 July, 2009 To be fair the 3 players leaving have all received offers that are hard to turn down. Even if we want them to stay- if they want to go then we've got accept it and move on. And we wouldn't be able to afford their wages. But I am sad that we are losing our talent, and in the case of Kelvin his contribution has been so immense it is difficult to imagine surviving in League 1 without him in goal. But their timing has been fortuitous. Without their transfer income we wouldn't have been able to pay the staff, and all would have been up for SFC by now. Mr Nice Posted 3 July, 2009 Share Posted 3 July, 2009 Fair play to radio solent as they have clearly been the winners thus far in the local media getting good Saints stories.
