Good move for him, and cannot blame him at all
Psycrow Posted 29 June, 2009 Posted 29 June, 2009 Shall we just start new threads suggesting he might go to random clubs? EDIT: Ah, you have a link... damn... foiled again EDIT 2: It is the Daily Mail though. Maybe he's going there because some kid lost his fingers in a goalkeeping accident and wants to live vicariously through KD... Film of Week.. Wednesday at 11.00
Hopkins Posted 29 June, 2009 Posted 29 June, 2009 Can't see it happening. He wont get a game unless Green goes to Arsenal. Which is a possibility but I cant imagine Zola wanting Kelvin "I'm due a clanger" Davis to be his No1. He'd only ever be a back up.

The Cat Posted 29 June, 2009 Posted 29 June, 2009 It's true. I found out this morning. Big loss to the club. Cheers Kelvin, and good luck.
GeckoSaint Posted 29 June, 2009 Posted 29 June, 2009 Rob Green has rejected 2 new contract offers from West Ham, so there's no doubt Zola will be looking for a new keeper over the summer.
shurlock Posted 30 June, 2009 Posted 30 June, 2009 (edited) That's terrible. There are players you know who wanted to leave (DMG); there are players who could leave but seemed happy to stay - Kelvin falls into this category. Until now its been difficult to measure the impact of this farcical two months on the team (morale apart); should it go through, Kelvin's transfer is a turning-point - it represents a completely avoidable and unnecessary loss brought solely upon ourselves. Despite his better senses perhaps (at least professional), this was a player who had bags of commitment and was just waiting for the green light to finish his career with us. Apart from being our best player last season, his retention would have been a great consolation and confidence boost going forward. Thanks Kelvin for proving us wrong the last couple of seasons. Wish we could have reciprocated the gesture. Edited 30 June, 2009 by shurlock
hamster Posted 30 June, 2009 Posted 30 June, 2009 It's the curse of the 'Player of the Season' award.
Saint Bones Posted 30 June, 2009 Posted 30 June, 2009 Bugger... Hope it isn't true. Although we sure can't blame him if hee goes. Thanks for your efforts Kelvin.

brightspark Posted 30 June, 2009 Posted 30 June, 2009 I think the loss of Kelvin combined with DMG, even if it seemed likely all summer, is close to ending our play off hopes. We need new players to sign for us. We need the damned takeover done and not f*cked about with any longer, and the new owners need to go straight into bringing in capable league 1 replacements.
NickG Posted 30 June, 2009 Posted 30 June, 2009 Solent reports KD is having medical at West Ham this morning.
thorpie the sinner Posted 30 June, 2009 Posted 30 June, 2009 bugger - thought he liked us We have hardly looked after him have we! Glad Tony's trip to Staplewood last week had a positive effect!
saints_is_the_south Posted 30 June, 2009 Posted 30 June, 2009 Another kick in the balls for us fans, not sure how many more i can take. Starting to lose all hope now tbh.
eurosaint Posted 30 June, 2009 Posted 30 June, 2009 You'd have thought that the Daily Mail would get Surman's name right ! SURNAM ? Who's that ?
Master Bates Posted 30 June, 2009 Posted 30 June, 2009 You'd have thought that the Daily Mail would get Surman's name right ! SURNAM ? Who's that ? They obviously use predictive text when typing articles.
JustMike Posted 30 June, 2009 Posted 30 June, 2009 see, this is what happens when you fook around..get on with it pinnacle or swiss or who ever
DT Posted 30 June, 2009 Posted 30 June, 2009 robert green or Kelvin - tough one. Mind you, doesn't look good if even K has given up the ghost. Perhaps he's heard it's all over. Certainly looks like it. Only happy people are Begbies Traynor's bean counters. Must have made a fortune on this one.
saints_is_the_south Posted 30 June, 2009 Posted 30 June, 2009 Worth keeping an eye on this site for official news: http://www.whufc.com/page/Home

Foxstone Posted 30 June, 2009 Posted 30 June, 2009 League 1 or Premiership. Tough choice for Kelvin. Additionally a decent wage promptly paid makes it an even tougher choice!
Chez Posted 30 June, 2009 Posted 30 June, 2009 You'd have thought that the Daily Mail would get Surman's name right ! SURNAM ? Who's that ? possibly a country situated between French Guiana and Guyana? Didn't think we owned so much land, no wonder these property developers have been circling.
Chez Posted 30 June, 2009 Posted 30 June, 2009 League 1 or Premiership. Tough choice for Kelvin. its funny that despite him being close to being CCC keeper of the year we seriously thought that he'd be happy to hang around all summer waiting for a new League 1 lower pay contract to appear when quite clearly he could get himself even more money on his bosman. Obviously dissapointed. I've backed him since day one and it seriously weakens the side. I wonder how good Forecast is?

Obviously his contract doesn't expire until midnight, but this is as done a deal as it's going to get until then. Hardly surprised, he said all the right things but even with a speedy multi-billionaire's takeover there was still a pretty good chance he was going to leave, Prem offers silly money even for benchwarmers.
Toadhall Saint Posted 30 June, 2009 Posted 30 June, 2009 Cheers Kelv - you did your best last season - some terific saves etc. Good luck at West Ham.

My guess is that this deal has been on the cards for a while and he hasn't been holding on for a contract from Southampton he has just been keeping this deal to himself. Best of luck to the guy, he has earned the move IMO.

Bailey Posted 30 June, 2009 Posted 30 June, 2009 Can't blame him for leaving. He's stated his desire to stay but with all the uncertainty surrounding the club it's understandable that he now has to leave. I don't hold it against him, and I wish him all the very best at West Ham.

rick1976.4.38 Posted 30 June, 2009 Posted 30 June, 2009 stuck on the bench at whu or first choice at sfc?
Matthew Le God Posted 30 June, 2009 Posted 30 June, 2009 stuck on the bench at whu or first choice at sfc? Premiership wages and signing on fee = security for his young family Don't blame him at all
gonzo Posted 30 June, 2009 Posted 30 June, 2009 stuck on the bench at whu or first choice at sfc? PL and getting paid a decent wage on time, or L1 and not getting paid a much lower wage on time? Hmmmmmmm......... Be honest, which would you go for?
labibs Posted 30 June, 2009 Posted 30 June, 2009 Don't think he can be faulted for this move. He could be on around 10k a week at West Ham, prob on a 3 year contract, and moving on a Bosman would likely secure him a decent signing on fee. He'll be back up to Green, but Green may want to move on sometime soon. As backup it enables him to look into doing some coaching badges if he was that way inclined. Alternatively, he can sit here and maybe get a contract for a 2k p/w in league 1, playing for a team that may well be battling relegation, given the ill-prepared nature of the squad, impending fire-sale and points penalty. Fair play to the man, I just hope that one of either Bialkowski or Forecast is capable of stepping up to the plate.
The9 Posted 30 June, 2009 Posted 30 June, 2009 I think the loss of Kelvin combined with DMG, even if it seemed likely all summer, is close to ending our play off hopes. That is the stupidest thing I've read all summer, and there's been some competition. Have you got even the remotest inkling what's going on ?
eharty9 Posted 30 June, 2009 Posted 30 June, 2009 bialkowski deffo is good enough if we get the right GK coach and he gets his confidence back
The9 Posted 30 June, 2009 Posted 30 June, 2009 bialkowski deffo is good enough if we get the right GK coach and he gets his confidence back Not on the strength of any of his reserve (or international) performances I've seen since we lost to Derby in the Play-Offs, being dropped for which seems to have ruined his confidence altogether. Then again maybe a run in the team will do him good. I have half-shares in a pet budgie named after him, so I'm entitled to be biased...
saint_stevo Posted 30 June, 2009 Author Posted 30 June, 2009 Bialkowski was horrific the last few times i have seen him play. I forecast a season of dis contempt
eharty9 Posted 30 June, 2009 Posted 30 June, 2009 well if forecast is in goal gonna be raining goals this season
