we must have some serious investors coming to let this happen, not DMG's biggest fan but he would have scored 10 to 20 goals next season guaranteed.

hmmmm, not sure what to think... except for the fact that I would have thought that all transfers should be put on hold until the takeover is complete and a new manager is in... if at all possible.

I'd say its the exact opposite, to be honest. If we had some serious investment coming in our players may actually be tempted to stay. In the obviousl absence of such, you can't blame any one of the players wanting to get away from the shambles we've become.

despite some goals, I have never been very impressed with mcgoldrick - his attitude stinks imo and he rarely put in a good shift.

good riddence.

Hopefully we got a fair price that can contribute/pay the wage bill.

Either that or we are desperate!!!!!!

Tbf it says he wanted to play in the CCC so......we'll see!

yeah, sorry I should have come across with more sarcasm, I'm with you, this is crap!

Good God, he was EVER-PRESENT last season !?!?!?! No wonder we got relegated. :o

My overall opinion is "meh", as if he does for them what he did for us he won't score many for them next season before he gets dropped.

I can't imagine what Davies thinks he's getting, though he is the kind of manager that might give him the kick up the ar5e he so desperately needs.

This does not relieve, immediatly, our financial position because the FA will hold onto it,

am I correct in believing that ?

This might well be the case as I think Notts county may be due a lump from a sell on clause? Have mailed a mate who's a Mags fan to see what he knows.

there's 6 or 7 strikers now at Forrest so he's going to have to work hard to get a shirt. That might be just what he needs to turn him from a talented player into a top quality player

Very disappointed and with the news that it has been under negotiation for 6 weeks sheds further dount on Pinnacle's financial credentials. We must be pragmatic and so the wages will be paid which is the priority at the moment if we are to have any players left.

Does this mean Paul Allen will walk away again like he did for Bale? smiley winky thing

I'm expecting Seattle Sounders to sign Bale any day now. ;)

That's half of Nick H's news proved right, Surman next then. DMG had a good end to last season after a rather uneven season and may do better in his home environment at Forest. Certainly Davies will get him a lot fitter as the fitness levels at SFC last season were appalling and this summer will only have made them worse.

"we will all be keeping a close eye on his progress' sounds like code for there are add ons to the deal. Forrest appear to be going places (spending big bucks anyway) so that can only help us.

The club is skint and cannot pay the wages. That's how it is. Despite all the rhetoric of Pinnacle and the other consortia, there is no money coming in until the takeover is complete and the club cannot run the risk of losing all the players. The McGoldrick money should provide a stay of execution until takeover day and the club starts selling season tickets.

Hold On... did the OS actually break a story about Saints first!

Forrest had it on their OS and it was widely discussed on here this morning.

Very disappointed with what ? If we were selling him before Pinnacle were even involved (and he was rumoured to be going before the Play-Offs were even finished) it's hardly something they'd have much say in unless they were planning on relocating Southampton to Nottinghamshire or ramping up his wages after a decidedly mediocre season. I'd have sold him anyway, even knowing he's scored a few in League One before.

Very disappointed that he's gone. Got a lot of talent and will improve massively.

Saints fans in general seem to really dislike him - therefore he must be a good player as the judgment of our fans is appalling.

Did he manage to find the exit door? Good riddance.

Hit it with a banjo at the fifth attempt after sending the cow the wrong way by shinning it accidentally when trying to change direction, seen by some posters on here as "a fantastic skilful run".

Very True. Why can't they disclose the fee ?

well im gutted by this. Someone please tell me, what other strikers do we have to replace him? We are ****ed even if we do get taken over imo.

Sticky, I sez.

At the moment, we have Rasiak and Saganowski. Oh, and Euell, and Stern John until Wednesday. And Matt Paterson. And McLaggon. And Jack Boyle. And Jamie White, though I think he's still injured. And last season we had two other strikers come in on loans, so that's not unprecedented either.

And if we're taken over, we might even buy someone.

Well, yours. ;)

I certainly hope he will improve massively for his sake, cos he was fcking rrrrrrrubbish last season.

We still have two Polish strikers who might do alright in League 1 should they decide to stay on their large wages. There's also White and Paterson who are still to be properly tested in league football.

Your a Saints fan and your correct your judgment is appalling.

Well seeing as he was desperate to get away what difference does it make if some think he was tosh and others think he is Maradona mk2?

This message board is about opinions - McG was always going to infuriate some with his lazy gait...he wasn't the first...Trevor Hebberd used to get the same stick at The Dell.

Do you include your opinion in the "judgment of our fans is appalling"?

your living in dream land if you think saga or raz will stay. White and patterson.. Do you think we can compete in league one with just these two? John bwp and euell look as good as gone too. OdiMeh.

Will fund the wages, get County off our back and ensure another ex player will haunt our future.

Just hope the money was half decent.

I think you are correct, they will hold the incoming fee and pay any of our outstanding football debts from it, including any sell on fee due to Notts County.

No surprise given his desire to move back to Nottingham with his family situation. Seems to a decent fee - surprised that Forest would pay £1m + for a player who could have been out of contract in 2 weeks without a takeover going ahead so does this say anything about a deal being done?

Let's hope he doesn't join a long line of ex-strikers to come back & bite having left SFC - Blackstock, Best, Davies, Beattie, Phillips and so on (sure I've missed some out...)

I'd rather have Paterson than McGoldrick, and I didn't think I'd be saying that before the season a year ago.
