I know. THanks I was going along the lines of it might look a tad intimidating etc

I'm sure you knew that as I'm sure all songs would Not be taken litterally

Bodes well for the Olympics showcasing British culture at it's best. Grown men in football shirts at the height of summer getting p155ed in loutish packs at a popular family seaside resort. Nice - hardly the cosmopolitan cafe culture we allegedly aspire to when on our holidays.

That's not really the image I have of British people on holiday.:D

And I will raise the point ONCE AGAIN that nobody down here was bothered. Weymouth is used to far worse than a group of lads singing football songs whilst getting p*ssed.

Ok that is good. I will take your word for the population of Weymouth. ;)

Jesus are we still going on about this utterly pointless arguement

But you rose points on the topic!Hopefully we have covered them sufficiently for you to shut the feck up now!

Obviously I can't speak for everyone, but it's not the quiet, peaceful little hamlet people seem to think it is here. The locals aren't phased by a bit of noise.

Oh for f*ck sake, the locals are far, far worse believe you me. Hearing a few F-words now and then is nothing compared to the kind of stuff that gets shouted on a regular basis in this "family friendly" town.

You go to any seaside resort in the country and walk around the back end of town near the busiest pubs/clubs and you will hear AND see a lot worse than the little knees up that went on down here.

Sounds all wonderfully working class, do you all have interesting diseases?

Sounds frightfully, snobbishly upper class, does daddy drive a jag?

Hope everyone had a good day in memory of a big Saints fan, I'm sure his family appreciated the gesture.

looking at your location , you would be better off finding out about the Swiss Guys than moaning about some lads having a good time

****heads, what must people have thought.

Most people without a stick up their ass like you, probably thought "look at those lads having a beer and a sing song, how refreshing to see a group of football lads causing no trouble, just out for a good old laugh and sing song, especially nice to see Southampton lads out in good spirits seeing as their club is on the brink, good on them" just a thought!

im sure

:D

yeh definitely. Anybody midly displeased would certainly have made a point of reporting their displeasure to the official event organiser after all. That way, everybody could have had it out with some insults, posturing and the odd bottle or punch being thrown right? I mean, not handling things that way just makes you look a wimp right?

and what would you know about it? thanks jase good point.ive seen the photos and i can see 1 footy top anywhere!anyone who knows me they will be on fb later!

I used to live in Weymouth. Was rare to see Saints fans at the best of times. Think Liverpool probably had a slight majority over Man Utd. A bit depressing, but at least the trains were always pretty much empty to start with on matchdays on the way to Southampton.

Any chance of a link to the photos Robbo?

agreed

what a bunch of saddos

probably from shirley warren

And how many do you know that went and do you even know what the reason was for??

lol, brilliant. I detest that song too, but I'm not gonna start being derogatory and abusive to a group of people singing it, even more so when they're out to celebrate the life of a lost friend.

Bearing in mind you don't actually know me either, I'd suggest you quit with the assumptions. Though I would be intrigued to know your definition of "old", seeing as I apparently fall into that category.

Can I also add that this song was sang once when we aquired a skate shirt and duly set fire to the rag

perfectly acceptable on a seaside resort

Give it up Dulldays. A few friends had a day out to remember a friend who had died. The only people not showing respect is you and others on this thread making sneering comments.

So Delldays you are saying you and your crewmates have never ever run ashore together and got loud and leery in a bar?

of course I have, been in some right old trouble in the past...still, it was not big or clever and neither is singing A song about kicking somones head in and burning a t-shirt on a public seaside resort in the middle of the summer.

try burning a pompey top in town on a matchday, lets say, by the ground and see if it acceptable..

Just to clear things up, these 100 Saints Lads against this scouser..

Who won?

You ought to write for the Sun, no! Worse still. . . The Echo.

Ask some of the lads who went, they were there. They could remove all doubt and supposition from your mind.

if it was a group of pompey fans we would be calling them a bunch of pikey ****s...and we would be right

Steady on old chap- most unlike you! I'm assuming that you were/are 'Grumpydelldays' on other forums? You're one of the reasons I ocassionally stray onto here, as in a: "You're more than welcome to join the new forum" message posted by you during the dying embers of the old TUI site. Actually, with that in mind, maybe you are guilty to a degree :D.

Having said that, the 'Pompey fan on a string' song is utterly pathetic. Anyone singing it should be ashamed of themselves. Sadly, we have a couple of similar knuckledragging ditties of our own. They never fail to leave me cringing as they're belted out by a thankfully dwindling band of retards. Most of us have moved on from the anti-scum songs now.

I wonder what would have happened if I'd wandered past in my Pompey shirt? It would have been nice to stop for a beer and a chat with fellow footie fans. A nice idea maybe, but somehow I don't think that would have happened that way from the sounds of things. Shame....

Ive been in many a crowd away from football and if you had passed us in a Pompey top, then i can assure you there might have been the odd verse of "Get your fathers gun" and maybe a few bits of banter, but to be fair we would more than likely buy you a beer and invite you to join us.

Hmmm, cheers. Strange feelings at the moment for quite a few Pompey fans. On one hand absolute hilarity in a 'We've waited 40 ****ing years for this' kind of way.

On the other, a shiver down the spine as in: 'There but for the grace of god go I......'

All the name calling, recriminations and angst are also desperately dark, dark places we've been too before. Sounds silly to say you literally have nightmares sometimes, but you do on occasion, when things get this low.

I suspect you'll still be around in one form or another. Just try not to fall out forever over it- it's only a game. Trouble is, it isn't just a game is it?

An absolute bloody curse, football is.........
