Thedelldays Posted 27 June, 2009 Posted 27 June, 2009 too many hippy wasters for my liking.. dizee rascal was surprisingly quite good
Hatch Posted 27 June, 2009 Posted 27 June, 2009 Tried watching it a bit, those bloody flags in the crowd get on my nerves. Should be banned imo. ****ing attention seekers.
Hatch Posted 27 June, 2009 Posted 27 June, 2009 Oh, and did any one see Lady Gaga, did she have a wardrobe malfunction in the 'lips' area
Thedelldays Posted 27 June, 2009 Author Posted 27 June, 2009 Tried watching it a bit, those bloody flags in the crowd get on my nerves. Should be banned imo. ****ing attention seekers. was just about to add that to my original post.... Kasabian are on now and the amount of flags on big sticks is winding me up watching it on telly......what would top it off if I was there would be if some bloke had his missus sat on his shoulders in front of me.... I would have to push her off...
sambosa75 Posted 27 June, 2009 Posted 27 June, 2009 Anyone see the skate flag near the front during Kasabian? Would have had to throw one of the girls on the shoulders at whoever was holding it. On the subect of music, big fan of Kasabian. Never put on the tightest set but always put on a good show and get the crowd up for it. I can definitely see how much they are influenced by the Stone Roses.
Saint_clark Posted 27 June, 2009 Posted 27 June, 2009 Saw the Skate flag during Neil Young, put me right off watching it. Has been very good this year so far I think though.
Rattlehead Posted 27 June, 2009 Posted 27 June, 2009 Needs more metal and less sh*t bands. Rap should be declared illegal. People don't really like rap do they? I'd rather pour hydrochloric acid in my ears than listen to that sh*te. Complete turd.
badgerx16 Posted 27 June, 2009 Posted 27 June, 2009 Needs more metal and less sh*t bands. Guess you'll have to be satisfied with Spinal Tap then, won't you, ( and the drummer didn't even blow up ).
Thedelldays Posted 27 June, 2009 Author Posted 27 June, 2009 franz ferdinand about to be on as someone mentioned...you can tell kasabian get their influence from the stone roses
Rattlehead Posted 27 June, 2009 Posted 27 June, 2009 Guess you'll have to be satisfied with Spinal Tap then, won't you, ( and the drummer didn't even blow up ). And Pendulum massacring Master Of Puppets. Sacrilege, they should be shot.
percy windham Posted 27 June, 2009 Posted 27 June, 2009 And Pendulum massacring Master Of Puppets. Sacrilege, they should be shot. pendulum are a shocking band, they should be shot regardless of what they play.
Thedelldays Posted 27 June, 2009 Author Posted 27 June, 2009 you know when there are dicks there when it goes quiet on telly and you can hear.. "ogi ogi ogi.......oi oi oi"..
John Boy Saint Posted 28 June, 2009 Posted 28 June, 2009 was just about to add that to my original post.... Kasabian are on now and the amount of flags on big sticks is winding me up watching it on telly......what would top it off if I was there would be if some bloke had his missus sat on his shoulders in front of me.... I would have to push her off... I was at a Genesis concert at Wembley years ago, some lass got on her fellas shoulders and within seconds the air was full of bottles and cans all heading in their direction. 2 hours later the girl in front of us excitedly climbed aboard her chaps shoulders, all of us around them backed away as after 3hrs+ standing on the pitch the bottles with her name on were going to be the human Tizer and Iron Bru variety.

alehouseboys Posted 28 June, 2009 Posted 28 June, 2009 POMPEY slags are everywhere now so get used to it. Tell us something new...
TopGun Posted 28 June, 2009 Posted 28 June, 2009 too many hippy wasters for my liking.. dizee rascal was surprisingly quite good What do ex-forces types turn in to then apart from jail birds?

I'd rather pour hydrochloric acid in my ears than listen to that sh*te. Complete turd. Isn't that what 'Download' (oh, what a hardcore name!) is for?

I'd rather pour hydrochloric acid in my ears than listen to that sh*te. Complete turd. More metal and less sh*t? Isnt that contradicting yourself? For the record, I hate rap music too but metal music is just angry, loud noise which is far more suited to Download, Reading and Leeds. Leave Glasto well alone.
Thedelldays Posted 28 June, 2009 Author Posted 28 June, 2009 (edited) Franz Ferdinand as the 'headline' act....hmmmm watch a bit of Bruce Springstein...hmm, felt awkward for him. the crowd just did not really warm completely to his act....not really our thing Edited 28 June, 2009 by Thedelldays
sambosa75 Posted 28 June, 2009 Posted 28 June, 2009 Franz Ferdinand as the 'headline' act....hmmmm watch a bit of Bruce Springstein...hmm, felt awkward for him. the crowd just did not really warm completely to his act....not really out thing I was saying the same thing about Franz to my girlfriend. Decent enough but nowhere near established enough to take on the prime time slot. That slot should be reserved for bands like Oasis, Coldplay, Red Hot Chili's, Foo Fighters, Muse, Radiohead, Paul Weller etc... Possibly even the Arctics, although they only have 2 or 3 albums behind them, each and every song they do is an anthem which the whole crowd knows. The trouble is, the organisers are always very keen on giving other bands a push which has explained the Killers and Franz headlining in recent years. Otherwise it would be alternating between the same 7 or 8 bands every year for the headline slot. I must admit, I've never really 'got' Bruce Springsteen, evidentally I think the same can be said of most of the crowd there as well.
Guest Dark Sotonic Mills Posted 28 June, 2009 Posted 28 June, 2009 I watched both FF and Springeteen from the comfort of my sofa and whereas I thought that Springsteen's performance displayed a lot of self-indulgent head-up-the-arseness, Franz Ferdinand were just awful. Out of tune being the least of their problems.
Thedelldays Posted 28 June, 2009 Author Posted 28 June, 2009 how awful do madness sound..? looking forward to Blur later
Smirking_Saint Posted 28 June, 2009 Posted 28 June, 2009 Heard a little bit from the gaslight anthem, never heard of them before but V impressed.
Dimond Geezer Posted 28 June, 2009 Posted 28 June, 2009 I thought Springsteen was great. There was a Saints flag right in the middle of the crowd near the front, it got plenty of tele time
StuRomseySaint Posted 28 June, 2009 Posted 28 June, 2009 how awful do madness sound..? looking forward to Blur later Madness sounded great.... looking forward to seeing them in Romsey on the 18th July now.
warsash saint Posted 28 June, 2009 Posted 28 June, 2009 how awful do madness sound..? looking forward to Blur later I reckon you need to check your sound settings on your TV Madness were great...also enjoying Bat for Lashes
Sheaf Saint Posted 28 June, 2009 Posted 28 June, 2009 I reckon you need to check your sound settings on your TV Madness were great...also enjoying Bat for Lashes Agreed, I thought Madness were superb. I saw them at the MEN Arena in Manchester a couple of years ago and their songs just get everybody bouncing. Thought Bat for Lashes were really good too.
Guest Dark Sotonic Mills Posted 29 June, 2009 Posted 29 June, 2009 Is Neil Young still alive cos judging by his appearance at Glasto, he looks to have been dug up and put on stage.
keithd Posted 29 June, 2009 Posted 29 June, 2009 am i the only one who thought glasonbury was mediocre at best? all the "professional" journos are say ing stuff like wow best ever etc...what an uninspired line up...Franz, Springsteen, Cosby Stills Nash, Quo, Neil Young. Thought Blur were ordinary, but again thats been contradicted by the radio reports. 5/10
Patrick Bateman Posted 29 June, 2009 Posted 29 June, 2009 was just about to add that to my original post.... Scummer Posted 29 June, 2009 Posted 29 June, 2009 I had a bird on my shoulders at the Killers on Friday at Hyde Park ... what's wrong with that? Don't think I'd be too chuffed if you pushed her off ... How was the concert?
sambosa75 Posted 29 June, 2009 Posted 29 June, 2009 How was the concert? Need you ask? It was The Killers... Obviously rubbish.

Baj Posted 29 June, 2009 Posted 29 June, 2009 Did you go? Armchair pundits shouldn't make judgments like how 'good' the festival was. Exactly my thoughts. I can just imagine this lot above sat on their sofa with carling in hand saying "this festival lark is ****, why are they headlining?" a few points: Franz Ferdinand were not headliners because of size or importance, they played a secret gig at The Park stage last year, and as such this a nod, a thanks, to them for doing that. As it happened, the field at Other Stage was heaving so you would have to say the organisers were correct in their choice. Secondly, the funds are limited for signing the acts you "expect" to appear. They have approximately £2m to spread across ALL the acts for Glasto, it simply isnt feasible to expect all these great acts to turn up and play for peanuts. Lastly, Glasto is not, and has never been a pure music festival. If you want something like that then get off you ****ing sofa and go to Reading or V, glasto is about much more than the music, probably something that doesnt come across on your flatscreen.

Swine Flu, dysentery, trench foot, sunburn and brown trousers yeah?
Hatch Posted 29 June, 2009 Posted 29 June, 2009 I'm setting up a stall that sells really long poles and flags with sh!t messages on them for next years Glastonbury. Alongside my 'wacky & zany' headwear stall.
keithd Posted 29 June, 2009 Posted 29 June, 2009 well, thats me told then isnt it? wowsers, the only internet forum i know where you cant have an opinion! no, i didnt go, but i would like to think i see a decent amount of live music in a year, so would also like to think i know what a good gig is when i see and hear one. my views were the line up wasnt inspiring, and was it just the usual spiel by the usual people saying it was the best ever? i'll shut up shall i?
Baj Posted 29 June, 2009 Posted 29 June, 2009 The fact that you're basing the quality of the festival on the musical line-up kinda says it all.
scott_saints Posted 29 June, 2009 Posted 29 June, 2009 People take music festivals too seriously. With all the "it's not just the music. The atmosphere is like, so epic!" ---- which seems to be said about every festival!! It's a load of people, camping in a field, with tents/stages you can visit for music.
keithd Posted 29 June, 2009 Posted 29 June, 2009 The fact that you're basing the quality of the festival on the musical line-up kinda says it all. well in that case i truly do not understand festivals at all then. i thought a musical festival was about the music. i stand corrected. i shant comment further
Baj Posted 29 June, 2009 Posted 29 June, 2009 well in that case i truly do not understand festivals at all then. i thought a musical festival was about the music. i stand corrected. i shant comment further It's an art festival, not a music festival, the clue is in the name.
Saint Keith Posted 29 June, 2009 Posted 29 June, 2009 Need you ask? It was The Killers... Obviously rubbish. Bell end. was a superb gig, as was springsteen last night.
Junction 9 Posted 29 June, 2009 Posted 29 June, 2009 This is like watching an episode of Grumpy old men.
