New manager..?

I laughed at first but Hoddle was MLT's hero as a kid, and after WGS turned him down due to points penalty, Hoddle and KK were the next enquiries, KK more in an advisory role though. Believe they are actually good friends through Sky these days.

I don't believe Strachan turned it down due to points penalty, more likely the fact we are in League 1.

Hoddle really.. So Sydenham and Paine on the wings...Hoddle and MLT in the middle....What a quartet......We will walk this league......My own Steward has told me it will be Case in the middle and not Hoddle.....MLT crossed Hoddle out of his scrap book after Hoddle messed Le Tiss around in that Loftus England 'B' game...Hatrick and all and threw a tantrum by not picking Le God.For World Cup in France...

Now Bring Back Woggy and Ethel the TEA Lady....

I'm split between Keegan (exciting, unifying but maybe an early walkout appointment) and Tisdale (slight gamble but could be the next moyes appoitment)

;)

Agree totally with that.KK would be an inspiration from the outset,Tisdale a longer term option to build the team and club.

A friend is a steward who heard it at the club.

Hoddle refused to contribute to MLT's testimonial programme, the only Saints manager of the 1990's and early part of this decade to do so. Even Branfoot contributed, FFS.

He won't be coming back if MLT is chairman, more chance of us signing Torres.

I'm surprised no-one has mentioned Tommy Widdrington

if MLT was only speaking to KK and others for advice on who to employ as manager there is one name if havent seen mentioned that i think would have been very high on the list of names, and if were allowing ourselves to believe that KK or WGS (which would both be fantastic) are coming theres no reason to not add one more.

the best choice of manager( not the sexiest i know) is steve coppell

There is absolutely no chance of mlt working with hoddle, of that I am sure.

I believe they have secured dowie as 1st team coach & shearer is #1 target as boss followed by kk supported by id.

Maybe now, but Strachan was his 1st choice.

Unless the prospective buyers have someone already lined up - and it appears the Swiss have alot to learn about the english leagues and if was a manager and I had been approached by Pinnacle, I would be having doubts, surely Wotte's hand has been strengthened by recent developments? We're less than a week from preseason friendlies, players don't know whether they are coming or going. The need for stability seems paramount at the moment.

This needs a tough, no nonsense manager and for that we need the one manager capable of putting together a strong squad, quickly wiping out the points deficit and getting in with a chance of promotion. For me the one person capable of this who is available is DENNIS WISE. If money's no hold back then pair him up with Gus Poyet.

totally agree

Yes that is how I see with - 10 points it is unlikely we will be promoted automatically so let us consolidate in Div 1.

The new line up will be:

DoF = Keegan

Manager = Shearer

Tactical Coach = Hoddle

Tea boy\toilet cleaner = R****t L**e

KK as DOF and AS as Manager is, in my opinion the plan Pinnacle have had from the start. Interestingly, MLT never denied KK as NOT being sounded out to have a position at St Marys. He merely said he was not being considered as Manager. I believe MLT spoke to KK about his thoughts of working with AS, bearing in mind their close relationship at NUFC.

Interestingly, unless somebody else knows different, Shearer has not been formally given the Manager's job at St James Park yet, which strikes me as rather odd bearing in mind they are going into a crucial season in their history. Could AS be holding out for the Saints situation to resolve itself? Have KK or AS actively denied having any talks with Pinnacle/Saints about the SFC situation, despite the media speculating on both being lined up on different occasions? Would appreciate if anybody could confirm.

For me the active silence is deafening, bearing in mind the recent media speculation. If I was KK or AS I would have categorically come out and said "I have no interest in the possible Southampton situation" IF I had just had a chat with MLT about football advice OR I was the current manager of a Championship club.

The fact that they have said nothing on record would denote they are holding their cards very close to their chest. Tomorrow or Tuesday will be a very intersting day indeed.

one of the very recent MLT interviews he was twice asked if KK was going to be manager. He refused to deny it.

It seemed he is definately still being considered as manager.

MLT was aware of the publicity and if KK was not being considered, at all or for another role he could easily said, no he won't be manager

Exactly Nick, no categorical denials, although my gut instinct is still AS as manager with KK in some other role. In the interview I have seen MLT says:

"...the papers get hold of the pictures, the stories get plastered and everyone puts 2 and 2 together and occasionally come up with 5"

Well, if 5 = Saints Manager, then surely 4 = something just slightly different (ie DOF).

Ah f**k, I don't know....could go round all day with this. Will just see what happens..

I'd rather claw my eyes out than have Ince as manager, I can't understand the love in with him

And I'd rather have Ince as manager than Shearer.

I do have to wonder about Strachen's continuing unemployment. I know its a pipedream, but he should have been snapped up by a dozen other clubs by now. Something, probably my heart, is telling me he's holding out for something...

KK would be unbelievable, for many reasons.

Realistically, I would say Boothroyd would be my choice.

In loadsamoney fantasy land that we just may be in? Strachen 1st choice, KK second choice

because he is a fairly big name and could attract better realistic players at this level..will have good contacts at this level..has won trophies at this level..

ummm, cant see why we would want him either..

Or Hoddle, according to the article!

They say never go back, in most walks of life. With hindsight we did have some blooming good managers over the years and it's a pity, almost tragedy, that things have panned out the way they have. Just looking back and not prioritising their varying experience and levels of skill we have had Hoddle, WGS and even Nigel Pearson.

I'm beginning to wonder what one of them paired with KK as D.O.F. could do. Maybe though KK and Hoddle wouldn't gel?

failed miserably in the premiership, but i'll get over that. But the trophies he won at this level were with teams built by another manager. He flatters to decieve.

i reckon most teams are built by other managers..

as for the prem, we are a million miles from that..

Therefore me getting over it.

I disagree that most teams are built by other managers. But even if it were the case, Ince still came into a successful team while they were successful and didn't have to do very much. The big name thing comes into play again. He wouldn't have gotten the unwarranted plaudits he did nor the blackburn job if he wasn't Paul Ince

i disagree...we took a largely small name from this league straight to the prem..

ince jumped too early, but to say he is not good at this level (despite achieving more than most) is a bit harsh
