Thedelldays Posted 27 June, 2009 Posted 27 June, 2009 any ideas..? keegan still..? Ince..? all this assuming Pinnacle finally complete
Matthew Le God Posted 27 June, 2009 Posted 27 June, 2009 Micky Adams Unlikely as he is just days into a new job at Port Vale.
Webby Posted 27 June, 2009 Posted 27 June, 2009 Unlikely as he is just days into a new job at Port Vale. Oh. /sacks researcher
PaulSaint Posted 27 June, 2009 Posted 27 June, 2009 I'm split between Keegan (exciting, unifying but maybe an early walkout appointment) and Tisdale (slight gamble but could be the next moyes appoitment)
SaintBobby Posted 27 June, 2009 Posted 27 June, 2009 I want Keegan. Suspect it will be someone more run-of-the-mill though. Am not completely against keeping Wotte.
saint77 Posted 27 June, 2009 Posted 27 June, 2009 1st choice keegan 2nd choice dowie/flowers 3rd choice shearer
Rocker268 Posted 27 June, 2009 Posted 27 June, 2009 I think it could be Keegan, or someone more at this sort of level, Tisdale, Dowie etc
ART Posted 27 June, 2009 Posted 27 June, 2009 This needs a tough, no nonsense manager and for that we need the one manager capable of putting together a strong squad, quickly wiping out the points deficit and getting in with a chance of promotion. For me the one person capable of this who is available is DENNIS WISE. If money's no hold back then pair him up with Gus Poyet.
NickG Posted 27 June, 2009 Posted 27 June, 2009 I'm split between Keegan (exciting, unifying but maybe an early walkout appointment) and Tisdale (slight gamble but could be the next moyes appoitment) why not both for a year!
saint lard Posted 27 June, 2009 Posted 27 June, 2009 Unfortunately i think it maybe Dowie.Hope i'm wrong.
NickG Posted 27 June, 2009 Posted 27 June, 2009 I want Keegan. Suspect it will be someone more run-of-the-mill though. Am not completely against keeping Wotte. they have confirmed Wotte is not going to be manager.
Amesbury Saint Posted 27 June, 2009 Posted 27 June, 2009 1st choice keegan 2nd choice dowie/flowers 3rd choice shearer go with that
slickmick Posted 27 June, 2009 Posted 27 June, 2009 1st Choice would be Strachan, but less likely with -10. then Shearer but unlikely as he his divering with Newcastle. Next its between Keegan and Dowie. These are the ones I think MLT wants.
Saint_lambden Posted 27 June, 2009 Posted 27 June, 2009 To be honest, i'm sure everybody would like Strachan in a dream situation, but I think it will be either Keegan or Tisdale, either one would make me happy.
Amesbury Saint Posted 27 June, 2009 Posted 27 June, 2009 1st Choice would be Strachan, but less likely with -10. . why?
Red And White Barmy Army Posted 27 June, 2009 Posted 27 June, 2009 denis wise?! eugh. would rather keep wotte/bring back JP. KK will bring back the feel good factor and we all know what the spirit of Southampton can bring to our football club. An average consortium (i.e. not Paul Allen!) + an average/ small name manager doesnt equal the dawn of a new spirit of southampton. It may save our club but we'll soon take it for granted again and return to the run-of-the-mill team in the championship. If we're gonna go all the way up and have serious ambitions then the choice is between KK and maybe Ian Dowie. Shearer 3rd choice just cos he's still unproven. Anyone else and i have serious reservations about our potential in the medium-long term. I think KK is the only manager who could potentially manage us in the premiership out of the choices available to us. Dowie would get us there but then probably take us down again, Shearer would leave for Newcastle if he was that successful with us, Tisdale won't cut it tactially or psychologically at the top level. Wotte has the potential to take us back to the championship but we wouldn't replace him then after a promotion and he can't handle the tactical side of the championship. We'll waste a season changing manager to avoid relegation in our 1st year back in the championship under Wotte. Maybe Paul Ince will be ready in a couple of years time if we do change manager around that time.
Red And White Barmy Army Posted 27 June, 2009 Posted 27 June, 2009 my god that was a long post. Sorry i think i may have outstayed my welcome as a 'registered user' and i didnt even get to strachan (who would probably end up spending 10 years or so with us and get us back to mid-table premiership before deciding he needs another hip operation )
RonManager Posted 27 June, 2009 Posted 27 June, 2009 I've been out of work since the Fast Show fiinished. I know all the cliches
Mr Saints Posted 27 June, 2009 Posted 27 June, 2009 Have heard Keegan has 'verbally' agreed a deal if/when Pinnacle take over. But then again, the same source said Michael Tabor was the money man.
Block 5 Posted 27 June, 2009 Posted 27 June, 2009 This needs a tough, no nonsense manager and for that we need the one manager capable of putting together a strong squad, quickly wiping out the points deficit and getting in with a chance of promotion. thorpie the sinner Posted 27 June, 2009 Posted 27 June, 2009 isn't it wierd!! only this morning, we were all thinking about 7 days to save the club, the Swiss, and how we were going to lynch the chancers, we are now picking our manager lol!! Just hope someone completes next week
saintwarwick Posted 27 June, 2009 Posted 27 June, 2009 As long as it's not Reid, Ince, Wotte I'll be happy I'll take Ince as our manager anyday.
Toomer Posted 27 June, 2009 Posted 27 June, 2009 Ian Baird or Nick Holmes when we are in the Blue Square because that is where we will be if things don't happen soon.
saintjay77 Posted 27 June, 2009 Posted 27 June, 2009 its definately not Wotte ive obviously missed something but I have been in Newquay for the day. Where has it been confirmed Wotte will be out?
fareham saint phil Posted 27 June, 2009 Posted 27 June, 2009 If Adams hadn't taken over at Port Vale i think with his MLT friendship (remember MLT was ****ed off he didn't stand a chance of getting the job in the split second between JP and wotte) he would have been a good shout. Still big mates with Dowie but i think he will be waiting to be part of Shearers staff at newcastle so i think he wont come. Keegan yes the feel good factor Tisdale young and ambitious, would be good but dont think it will happen Ince, Curbishley or Boothroyd maybe So to sum up i haven't got a ****ing clue, just be nice to be in a position to be offering someone a job!!
SET Posted 27 June, 2009 Posted 27 June, 2009 tbh i could not give a ****, just as long as there are 11 players in saints shirts taking to the field against Millwall
barney Posted 27 June, 2009 Posted 27 June, 2009 I want keegan but i think weve got strachan................
saintjay77 Posted 27 June, 2009 Posted 27 June, 2009 I want keegan but i think weve got strachan................ id be exstatic with either but knowing the saints it will probably be another unheard of lol
Billyboy Posted 27 June, 2009 Posted 27 June, 2009 It will need to be someone special. This article is interesting. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/8050784.stm
SaintBobby Posted 27 June, 2009 Posted 27 June, 2009 Is there are any remotely serious suggestion that WGS is in the frame? If so, he'd trump KK as my first choice.
Thedelldays Posted 27 June, 2009 Author Posted 27 June, 2009 Is there are any remotely serious suggestion that WGS is in the frame? If so, he'd trump KK as my first choice. from beating AC milan in the champions league to the bottom of league 1... HAHAHAAHAHAHAHahAHahaaa
Rasiak-9- Posted 27 June, 2009 Posted 27 June, 2009 Keegan, definately. People talk about the fact that he'd "bring us all together" and that in his own "symbolic" way as if those things are merely feel-good factors and would make no actual tangible difference. but in short - i think they would -bigger crowds -more money -a man with a genuine care for the club -more media attention -an ambitious and active manager who the new owners would take pride in -also world reknowned so players who might otherwise leave may stay -and players who otherwise might not want a transfer to southampton might -louder crowds and increased passion from supporters (last season goes to show that a half-empty stadium with many fans at a point of total apathy doesn't exactly do wonders for the home record) and those are all factors regardless of keegans ability as a manager - which i think is good enough at least, but essentially keegan for the "symbolic" sake of keegan isn't as meaningless as it sounds at first - and he should definately be our number 1 target.
Right sider Posted 27 June, 2009 Posted 27 June, 2009 Have heard that the reason for secrecy is down to the fact it is Hoddle. Due to some part of link up with his academy. Also pinnacle is most likely to succeed, but it is all about the right to appeal.
Rocker268 Posted 27 June, 2009 Posted 27 June, 2009 Is there are any remotely serious suggestion that WGS is in the frame? If so, he'd trump KK as my first choice. I agree strachan would probably be one of my top choices, but I think KK would have a wider impact on neutrals

John B Posted 27 June, 2009 Posted 27 June, 2009 Keegan, definately. I thought Keegan was still in dispute with Newcastle and could not take a new job is that right?

sussexsaint Posted 27 June, 2009 Posted 27 June, 2009 Frankly as we are currently a league 1 team on -10 I am amazed at some of the names mentioned!
paulwantsapint Posted 27 June, 2009 Posted 27 June, 2009 KK is 58 yrs old so if we can sign him saints may very well be his last managerial position before a full time retirement But what a way to go out on a high taking club for bottom of 3rd division up to prem But think I might see positives in Osama Bin Laden & Robert Mugabe as new management team as long as I have Saints to support
