Nineteen Canteen Posted 7 July, 2009 Posted 7 July, 2009 Admin was always going to be inevitable after the appointment of the infamous 'execs'. I assume you are talking about May 2006 because once a ship is so badly holed then she is beyond saving by even the most experienced captains. That's why they have salvage companies. I hope the Swiss are rewarded for their support and I dread the team going a few games without a point. What was the father's mantra in the Echo today? Spend only what you have earned as loans are simply gambling. I suspect they still follow their Father's advice as most of us do ours. I definitely don't expect them to have a hide as thick as Lowe's and if this club turns on them at the bottom of the roller-coaster then they will simply leave us to it IMO. It worries me as we must have a collective learning defect and unable to heed the lessons of the past hence the fact we went into administration unable to help the club in the last chance saloon, for whatever reason, most of which were invalid judging by the usual comments. Time for a large dose of realism and perhaps consider how you would run the club and it's notoriously difficult customers if you were expecting a return on your investment and not frittering away your wealth and family's inheritance.
Right sider Posted 7 July, 2009 Posted 7 July, 2009 Alpine is just misunderstood. Normally has his opinion in the right camp. Just rubs people up the wrong way (so to speak).
saintwarwick Posted 7 July, 2009 Posted 7 July, 2009 i dont get most peoples problems with alpine i agree with most if his things then again thats why i think most of you on here are annoying. Are you Alpine's brother-in-law by any chance??? That's what I was thinking.
sadoldgit Posted 7 July, 2009 Posted 7 July, 2009 Burley is completely irrelevant to this thread. It's a shame you had to bring him up. No he isn't. Alpine spent a lot of time slagging him off when he at least won football matches, remember those days? This thread is all about morons. A moron on here to me is someone who is so far up his own agenda he can't actually see the bigger picture. We had a manager who managed to get 1.54 points a game. He is deemed by a number of people as a failure yet no one else in our lifetime has been able to get more points per game.....and these same people thought that Wilde and Co were a good idea...oh and Pinnacle......see where we are going here?
sadoldgit Posted 7 July, 2009 Posted 7 July, 2009 Alpine is just misunderstood. Normally has his opinion in the right camp. Just rubs people up the wrong way (so to speak). Misunderstood??? Does he have two brother-in laws? I think most of us understand him just fine!
Thedelldays Posted 7 July, 2009 Posted 7 July, 2009 No he isn't. Alpine spent a lot of time slagging him off when he at least won football matches, remember those days? Nineteen Canteen Posted 7 July, 2009 Posted 7 July, 2009 Agreed lots of selective memories about True but also very little objective assessment and reasoning from the those who chose to show their banners, march or sang their idiotic and offensive songs like a bunch of 5 year olds having a mass tantrum. Let's hope history doesn't repeat itself and that the idiotic few don't ensure we have to reap their peurile impatience and divisive 'mob rule' once again.
View From The Top Posted 7 July, 2009 Posted 7 July, 2009 Nice to see the Lowe Luvvie losers are still all bitter and twisted. Gives me a nice warm content feeling. Was it worth driving the club to the brink to get rid off all the tossers that had been running it? You'd better 'kin believe it. All I need now is for those luvvies to never return and I'll be chuffed to bits.
notnowcato Posted 7 July, 2009 Posted 7 July, 2009 no one else in our lifetime had the most money to spend in a pre season than anyone else in the division... do you think mourinho would have accepted 6th when he spent all that money..? Do you think mourinho would have taken over a club failing so miserably and falling so quickly? BTW The answer is no.
SaintBobby Posted 7 July, 2009 Posted 7 July, 2009 I was not glad we went into administration. I am still v p*ssed off that we get the -10 next season - this probably costs us a year in climbing the league. It looks like it will all turn out nicely though.
Alain Perrin Posted 7 July, 2009 Posted 7 July, 2009 History will judge that administration is the point when life got better. Without it the club would still be under the cloud of Lowe and would have continued to die slowly. History will judge that things happened after administration. In 10 years time, the picture may be different, with highs and lows along the way. Man up and forget the past.

AGENDA is that french for bottom by chance:lol: Lowe is in the past but you surely will have to be weaned off him :smt007 You of all peeps should be looking forward not remonstrating with my fellow fans and calling them names......The past:smt039 Saints bright new future:smt007 Rupert..who is he:smt039 Hopefully:rolleyes:
saintwarwick Posted 7 July, 2009 Posted 7 July, 2009 Burley's management WAS a total failure. We were 15 minutes from relegation with the legacy he left, scandalous given the money he spent. That's utter crap, Burley got us into a playoff position the previous season and didn't have us in a relegation spot this last one but nearer to a playoff spot, the onus was on who appointed the managers that followed, that WAS total failure.
Thedelldays Posted 7 July, 2009 Posted 7 July, 2009 Do you think mourinho would have taken over a club failing so miserably and falling so quickly? BTW The answer is no. but we werent then...we were about to "walk the league"
Thedelldays Posted 7 July, 2009 Posted 7 July, 2009 burley had it all...more than any other manager in our history in relative terms (bar a few years in t he 80's)
St Marco Posted 7 July, 2009 Posted 7 July, 2009 As i said on the other thread. Who has lost out with us being in admin exactly? The fans? The players? The staff behind the scenes? The media? The truth is the players were **** last season, some being **** for two seasons now, they are on thousands a week,do they deserve it? Very few if any do. When players were asked to refer their money for a few weeks to help pay the staff how many actually agreed to that? zero. So i don't feel sorry for their losses at all, should we feel sorry for them?. But they have all been paid and went about a week without being paid so i guess was not really a loss. I'm sure lots of people here have had to wait longer for their pay cheques. The real people who have lost out are the shareholders. The majority of holders of which are at somepoint to blame for what has happened, that is including Crouch. So sorry i do not feel sorry for them one bit that they have lost out. I am glad Crouch has put his own money in since then, shows he is a honourable man. But other then that im glad they are all gone and will no longer get a single penny from this club. The fans have lost nothing from the club being in admin, we were destined for league one football with our squad and coaching staff long beforewe went into admin. Im sure most fans are happy the club went into admin to get rid of the old regime and emerge from it without any of them.
saintwarwick Posted 7 July, 2009 Posted 7 July, 2009 History will judge that administration is the point when life got better. Without it the club would still be under the cloud of Lowe and would have continued to die slowly. I believe we were dying under Crouch as well, no matter who was at the helm we were going in one direction without funding.
docker-p Posted 7 July, 2009 Posted 7 July, 2009 Lowe had his faults but in 10 years we did actually achieve a lot more than many other Prem clubs. But if you want to see those years as a failure that is fine. The previous years prior to Lowes arrival in the top flight were more successful than those under Lowe. Fact. And then slowly but surely, one poor descison followed by another we descended until we find ourselves in the third flight on minus 10 points and almost out of existance. Why can't you Lowe luvies accept Lowe really wasn't very good at running football clubs? But it's all history now. Onwards and upwards.
Nineteen Canteen Posted 7 July, 2009 Posted 7 July, 2009 Nice to see the Lowe Luvvie losers are still all bitter and twisted. Gives me a nice warm content feeling. Was it worth driving the club to the brink to get rid off all the tossers that had been running it? You'd better 'kin believe it. All I need now is for those luvvies to never return and I'll be chuffed to bits. Someone earlier mentioned there was very little celebration on the news tonight that we are appear to be saved. Perhaps the lack of cheer is epitomised by your post because as I have said elsewhere when this new takeover has a wobble you and others like you will be first to kick us into this dangerous charade again. There were 15,000 loyal fans from last season that i am fairly certain didn't want administration and be they luvvie, anti-lowe or ambivalent will find your remarks a tad simple, pathetic, offensive or worse question why they bother to support a club for plastic loutish morons like you.
Arizona Posted 7 July, 2009 Posted 7 July, 2009 I didn't want admin, but I'll sure as heck be glad of it IF we get bought out by Swiss billionaires tomorrow. If they appoint a decent manager and invest sensibly in the squad, I reckon this set up would EASY score 10 points more than anything Lowe could have put together. I don't think I could stomache another summer of selling the few remaining decent players, bringing in complete rejects other clubs don't want, bringing in the cheapest manager in Europe from the Dutch equivalent of Bognor Regis FC and labeling the whole package, "Total football". I hate how Lowe has run the club in the past, but I also feel genuinely insulted that he thought I'd believe such extreme bullsh*t. I don't care about the -10, as long as the club exists, that's better than another season under Lowe IMO.
notnowcato Posted 7 July, 2009 Posted 7 July, 2009 but we werent then...we were about to "walk the league" That sounds like conjecture rather than fact. Suggest you give your periscope a clean as it appears to be clogged with shi*t.

The loss of the regime was indeed worth the sacrifice... shame the regime couldnt have stood down 1-2 years ago and sold the club. I am looking forward tomorrow to removing my location statement after 12 months or so. Tomorrow the sleeping giant has a chance to reemerge... lets complete the removal of the last of the failures quickly and then lets move up.
benjii Posted 7 July, 2009 Posted 7 July, 2009 No he isn't. Alpine spent a lot of time slagging him off when he at least won football matches, remember those days? This thread is all about morons. I reiterate that Burley is irrelevant; this thread is about alleged morons and their opinion on administration (delivered to you by R Lowe esq.). If you ask me, it is quite a moronic trait to drone on about something with a ****-poor line of argument ad nauseum. Banging on about 1.54 points really does make you look a bit odd. No one in my lifetime, other than Burley, has ever had a transfer budget comparable with the biggest hitters in our division in which they managed. Promotion was a realistic target; we didn't get it. That's failure of sorts, whether abject, unlucky or partial. 1.54, 1.54, 1.54 is stupid, infantile, myopic garbage.
SaintRobbie Posted 7 July, 2009 Posted 7 July, 2009 I didn't want admin, but I'll sure as heck be glad of it IF we get bought out by Swiss billionaires tomorrow. I don't care about the -10, as long as the club exists, that's better than another season under Lowe IMO. Agreed - well said Arizona.
sadoldgit Posted 7 July, 2009 Posted 7 July, 2009 but we werent then...we were about to "walk the league" Burley never said we would walk the league, some idiots on here did. He said realistically we would make the play offs...and we did. I think Jose had a lot more money to spend and better players to start with didn't he?
Thedelldays Posted 7 July, 2009 Posted 7 July, 2009 That sounds like conjecture rather than fact. Suggest you give your periscope a clean as it appears to be clogged with shi*t. in relative terms...we had it all the start of that season more so than anytime (bar a few seasons in the 80s) in our history... since when have we ever been the biggest spenders in our league in one pre-season in our entire history..? adding to an already brought together squad that was supposed to challenge for the top of the league..?
Thedelldays Posted 7 July, 2009 Posted 7 July, 2009 Burley never said we would walk the league, some idiots on here did. He said realistically we would make the play offs...and we did. I think Jose had a lot more money to spend and better players to start with didn't he? in relative terms (i know those who back burley cant be objective over the issue) we spent a farking fortune...massive money at the time
sadoldgit Posted 7 July, 2009 Posted 7 July, 2009 Agreed - well said Arizona. When we get another cup final and European football I will agree.
Thedelldays Posted 7 July, 2009 Posted 7 July, 2009 No one in my lifetime, other than Burley, has ever had a transfer budget comparable with the biggest hitters in our division. yep
sadoldgit Posted 7 July, 2009 Posted 7 July, 2009 in relative terms (i know those who back burley cant be objective over the issue) we spent a farking fortune...massive money at the time Money does not guarantee success. Redknapp was given £6m to keep us up, that worked....doh
SaintRobbie Posted 7 July, 2009 Posted 7 July, 2009 Sadoldgit is right. Burley delivered a playoff place. He said he had a playoff team and delivered that. GB is not the reason we relegated. Lack of funding and failure to sell the club to buy out the gamble last year was the reason we relegated.
benjii Posted 7 July, 2009 Posted 7 July, 2009 When we get another cup final and European football I will agree.
Thedelldays Posted 7 July, 2009 Posted 7 July, 2009 Money does not guarantee success. Redknapp was given £6m to keep us up, that worked....doh oh my god.. 6m in the prem = err, lol
SaintRobbie Posted 7 July, 2009 Posted 7 July, 2009 When we get another cup final and European football I will agree. Lowe has put that off for many years. Shame he failed to support and keep WGS after he delivered.
Gemmel Posted 7 July, 2009 Posted 7 July, 2009 who were ecstatic when we went into Administration? Are you still as ecstatic now? I was massively against administration, but ultimately they have been proved right in relation to thier agenda. Regardless of whether we agree with that agenda or not is irrlevant; They both claimed admin was inevitable They both claimed it should have been taken earlier to avoid minus points this season. They both claimed relegation was inevitable They both claimed it was the only way to get rid of lowe and wilde They both claimed we would be bought and able to move forward without the burden of debt. And whilst i disagree with some of their posts and whilst it was a polar view to my own, trying to suggest they were wrong in relation to what they were trying to achieve, is bizarre. They were right and with a fair wind tomorrow have bragging rights on "A full house"...................... even if i have to whince a little as type.
Nineteen Canteen Posted 7 July, 2009 Posted 7 July, 2009 The previous years prior to Lowes arrival in the top flight were more successful than those under Lowe. Fact. Why can't you Lowe luvies accept Lowe really wasn't very good at running football clubs? But it's all history now. Onwards and upwards. Why can't you see that with the advent of Sky TV the football landscape changed so dramatically as to be enable to bear comparison. On top of that during the Lowe's first 10 years he also had to contend with the Champions League and the drain of funds on those club outside of Europe and the increasing power of those inside it was life changing. What would you have proposed Docker? Stay at The Dell and revert to the training methods and relevent salary scales of the 1980's? You are always quick to chide but never offer an opinion on how it could have been done differently and cause a few of us to scratch our chins as others in fact do occassionally. Better still leave the running of the club as you do to those who know best but keep your silly sniping to yourself. BTW, i'll give you Ted Bates had to cope with the introduction of the minimum wage, Lawrie McMenemy? Can't think of anything, IMO he had it very easy bit like being a soldier before Blair came along.
Wade Garrett Posted 7 July, 2009 Posted 7 July, 2009 Who gives a toss. Weasels and Arseholes like Lowe, Wilde, Askham et al are now consigned to the dustbin of history.
SaintRobbie Posted 7 July, 2009 Posted 7 July, 2009 oh my god.. 6m in the prem = err, lol Redcrapp couldve had more £s though... he just didnt seem to be able to find the players in the January window... wonder why? Perhaps it was because the money wasnt given to him for ahem... other expenses... as it was elsewhere on the South coast?
notnowcato Posted 7 July, 2009 Posted 7 July, 2009 adding to an already brought together squad that was supposed to challenge for the top of the league..? That is of course b0ll0cks. The improvement season on season is clear to see.
Thedelldays Posted 7 July, 2009 Posted 7 July, 2009 Redcrapp couldve had more £s though... he just didnt seem to be able to find the players in the January window... wonder why? Perhaps it was because the money wasnt given to him for ahem... other expenses... as it was elsewhere on the South coast? arry was a disaster for us for what ever reason.. one thing that I will not accept and im sure most wont either is that arry could not find players to spend money on...seriously..lol

OK fairish points. But 19, when you have a boss like Lowe who CONTINUALLY ****s things up regardless of the circumstances dont you think that perhaps others are right to question whether he was any good?
Mole Posted 7 July, 2009 Posted 7 July, 2009 I believe we were dying under Crouch as well, no matter who was at the helm we were going in one direction without funding. Yes but under Lowe we had the most obnoxious and despised figurehead in the history of English football.
Nineteen Canteen Posted 7 July, 2009 Posted 7 July, 2009 Money does not guarantee success. Redknapp was given £6m to keep us up, that worked....doh SOG we had players on over a £1m pa and Fuller in hindsight at £90k was a bargain we failed to realise seeing how he has performed at Stoke and with age no doubt losing a bit of pace.
Thedelldays Posted 7 July, 2009 Posted 7 July, 2009 Yes but under Lowe we had the most obnoxious and despised figurehead in the history of English football. in southamptons history... in english football...err:smt039

Of course, purely speculation...
SaintRobbie Posted 7 July, 2009 Posted 7 July, 2009 in southamptons history... in english football...err:smt039 Still pretty high!
Thedelldays Posted 7 July, 2009 Posted 7 July, 2009 Still pretty high! i very much doubt it think about it...the most hated figure head in english football...lol
Nineteen Canteen Posted 7 July, 2009 Posted 7 July, 2009 Yes but under Lowe we had the most obnoxious and despised figurehead in the history of English football. Prove it Mr Parochial minute taker. Risdale, Bates, Ellis, Batchelor, Ashley - shall I go on you parasitic thug?
sadoldgit Posted 7 July, 2009 Posted 7 July, 2009 Yes but under Lowe we had the most obnoxious and despised figurehead in the history of English football. With all due respect I think there are a lot of others who are far above Lowe in those stakes. Even at our club Branfoot surely has to take that award???
St_Tel49 Posted 7 July, 2009 Posted 7 July, 2009 Any chance of making this the last b1tching thread so we can all move forward together to our bright new future (at least until we have lost some games ;-) )
