Share your favourite match/memory/moment from your time as a Saints fan, as a tonic to all the s***e going round at the moment.

Mine has to be Franny's testimonial (I wasn't born when we won the cup or when Keegan signed, unfortunately!).

A fantastic night, great atmosphere, fantastic goal from Franny, and I nearly ****ed myself laughing when Beasant ran the length of the pitch with the ball stuffed up his shirt so he could go up and score.

And MLT's point-blank save from Shearer when he had a go in goal.

That was a great evening!

Actually thinking about so many great memories is really rather depressing !

reading the threads title i was going to say it has stoppped raining

Always remember that it's having to live through the bad times that makes the good times so great. Great goals, injury-time winnners, last-minute escapes at the end of the season, memories are made of these!

Tony Book (I think) smashing the ball off the line for Man city at the Milton Road end, only for it to hit Terry Paine on the back of the head, knocking him flat and looping back into the net.

Watching them walk out to a sea of yellow in Cardiff.

Thinking about it still stands the hairs up - great experience loved it.

The nice back to back win's against the skates (pahars goal being the one)

Niemi's awesome triple save against Viera, when we beat arsenal 3-2.

.....I could go on all night; so many fabulous memories with this club...and these are only recent. (Unfortunately im not old enough to remember the real glory days!)

Doing the double over Preston North End last season, and gloating at my friend who gives me nothing but abuse about Saints. When we went 3-0 up at home I nearly cried. When we came back from 2-0 down away from home, I totally lost the plot. This is why I love Saints.

My favourite is still the 3-1 win against Newcastle in 95 (?). Three goals in the last 5 minutes and the whole Archers stood for the second half for the first time after the PA announcer had asked everyone to sit down.

Camara's goal v Norwich, my god that was euphoria. Also, even though I was away at the time and didn't have the funds to afford a ticket, the feeling of pride to know that my team was in the cup final and ALL the neutrals wanted us to win.....

Saints 4 Ipswich 3- fantastic comback in the 80's

Many a match watching Channon, keegan, et al in the late 70s and early 80's! Never felt we'd lose!!!!! A fantastic feeling!

My runner beans are coming on a treat.

So are mine. Are yours at the top of pole and in flower? Mine are.:)

My green beans are little slower though.

Good work on the veg! My tomatoes are starting to flower, my first attempt at growing them too!

Tomatoes have been a bit of a foe to me over the last couple of years...they just haven't been playing the game, as in growing properly.....I've obviously been doing something wrong

Bumper crop of carrots this year though

I don't get many slugs, but snails are a problem. I'm on my third tub of slug pellets this year.

I'm not growing sweetcorn this year as they are a lot of effort for little crop. I've got some marrows in though -lovely boiled with the kidney beans.

Gotta agree with you there mate, sweetcorn is alot of effort, it's worth it though I reckon, you can't beat it freshly picked and boiled or even bbq'd with the leaves on.

Never done marrows......sounds lovely with kidney beans though :smt045

Anderlecht 2nd Leg at The Dell CWC quarter final 1977. The sound inside the old place was so loud at kick off and at times during the game it felt it was generating its own energy. It literally crackled, playing on your ear drums and even in your stomach in the way only a DeepPurple/Black Sabbath/ Led Zep gig would do. It was breathaking. "C'mon you reds! C'mon you reds!" Anyone else remember it like this?

My tomatoes have started to flower too, but I suspect my potatoes have caught blight :( (damn famine). My first time growing both.

Seeing Pahars cut in from the left onto his right foot and curling one past the onlooking P*mpey keeper, into the back of the net.

We went on to beat Pompey 3-0 at St Mary's, putting us 4th in the table at Christmas.

40 seconds in.

Good god it's depressing thinking about how far we've fallen.

For me last season staying up by beating Sheff Utd - the moment when that whistle went and we stormed the pitch i was ecstatic. I was convinced that the troubles were over and we could only move forward

shame really

Yep, I remember, awesome atmosphere, football is always better in the evening!- Anderlecht were a very good team.

I also have a memory of an Anderlecht player(full back, I think) who had leg muscles like those of a weight lifter but was like lightening over 20 yards-bizarre thing to remember- but I have never seen a football player built like that.

Oh and my runner beans are fantastic- I'll be able to start picking them next weekend!!!

Something positive?

I have really enjoyed BBC's coverage of Glastonbury tonight. Neil Young was top dog. Lily Allen and Lady Gaga tied for the most "interesting" clothing award.

Going back through the annals of time...

- playing Preston off the park last season. Couldn't see a hope in hell of us going down after that game.

- Derby play-off. OK we lost, but great comeback and great atmosphere.

- Camara Norwich.

- FA Cup Final

- FA Cup Semi-final at Villa Park

- Beating Spurs in 3rd round of cup

- First match at St. Mary's

- Matty in last minute at the Dell

- A spur of the moment trip up to Boro to see us win with Marian and Beats both scoring

- Matty's 2 goals v Newcastle

- For some reason, beating Charlton at Selhurst Park on Dec 29th 1989. Matty, Rodney, Russell Osman the scorers. I even remember the scorers for Charlton; Rob Lee and Steve Mackenzie.

- Liverpool 4-1 at Dell

- Keegan's greatest goal that never was against United

- Vague memories of Stevie Moran

Many, many, many great days out and memories supporting the Saints, unfortunately I have missed out many of those in this list (memory is not quite what it was!).

When I was at school we used to stand by the left hand post at the Milton Road end, right behind the wall. I was a budding goalkeeper then. One match Ken Jones hit a volley which came straight at me. I assumed the position and caught the ball in my midriff in textbook style. To my great surprise this knocked the wind right out of me and sent me backwards into the people standing behind me. Lying totally winded and gasping for air I remember Ken looking over the wall and saying impatiently - 'Give us the ball son'.

I wore those bruises with pride to school on Monday morning.

Getting bricks and metal fence posts thrown at me by Chelsea fans in 1985.

Bunch of ManU fans in the home end in 1986 causing bovver.

Bunch of ManU fans in SMS (2001?), not causing bother, but pi44ing me off cause plastic Manu fans had owned SMS.

The club ensuring us ST holders didn't waste our money renewing in March as usual. Well done Rupert Lowe you saved me over £700, you always had the fans interests closest to your heart. Deep respect for your efforts missing you and at least 5,000 deserters.

Apart from the obvious, 76 Cup Final, promotion in 1978 etc; my favourite game would have to be a league cup tie v Derby in 1977 I think it was. We were still in Div 2 and Derby were top of Div 1. We completely played them off the park winning 5-0. I still remember a goal by Peter Osgood, a bullet like header into the top right hand corner of the Archers Road goal. Probably the best Saints performance I have ever seen and there are many candidates, I still remember 9-3 v Wolves in about 1966 !
