1976_Child Posted 24 June, 2009 Posted 24 June, 2009 I have just put some new potatoes on the boil to go with my fish fingers. I will let you all know when they are done.
Smirking_Saint Posted 24 June, 2009 Posted 24 June, 2009 Are you boiling them in heavily salted water to then roast off for 10 mins in the oven ?? Great with fish as the salt crystalises on the outside. Oh BTW quids in on 21:16 for the finish time.

Sounds like a good idea, sort of like a pseudo-roastie! thanks for the tip.

TopGun Posted 24 June, 2009 Posted 24 June, 2009 HTH When I am feeling cheap and lazy I quite like a cold potato salad with potatoes from a tin. A few herbs and some olive oil to lift the deal and you could almost sell it to your mum!

Speaking of potatoes i don't think you can beat a good cold potatoe salad with a generous helping of salad cream (or mayo) and some chopped onion !! God i fancy a BBQ
1976_Child Posted 24 June, 2009 Author Posted 24 June, 2009 I can now confirm that my potatoes are cooked, drained and plated.
miserableoldgit Posted 24 June, 2009 Posted 24 June, 2009 I can now confirm that my potatoes are cooked, drained and plated. Phew!! A damned close-run thing!
Smirking_Saint Posted 24 June, 2009 Posted 24 June, 2009 I can now confirm that my potatoes are cooked, drained and plated. only 6 minutes out... not too shabby Did you salt and roast them ??
Redbul Posted 24 June, 2009 Posted 24 June, 2009 Is it me or did tonight's potato thread lack lack some of the urgency and thrill of last nights?
TopGun Posted 24 June, 2009 Posted 24 June, 2009 'tis a good point. tinned spuds aren't that bad. just expensive compared to home-grown ones. Probably true but I have come to realise that growing spuds involves some effort and it is not my core business. I would neglect them after investing in tatty barrels and some form of fertiliser. Even if I was successful I would have too many at one go and I would have to give them away. So, for me, the odd can of value tinned potatoes at 20p a pop is the cupboard answer for the odd desire I have. But I admire your sentiments 1976!
tpbury Posted 24 June, 2009 Posted 24 June, 2009 I can now confirm that my potatoes are cooked, drained and plated. Anything you eat after 7 stays with you! The only time I lost a decent amount of weight as a child was when I stopped eating potatoes. They're bad.

tpbury Posted 25 June, 2009 Posted 25 June, 2009 I always have my tea about 6.30 so I should be ok then ? But you're well past breakfast time aren't you? Thinking about lunch? What are you going to have - the evil potato?
