hutch Posted 23 June, 2009 Posted 23 June, 2009 I don't know if I'm the only one to feel this way, but a bit of realism wouldn't hurt. We have lost our way over the last few years. I admit to being over 50 years old. We've seen the ups and the downs, from Big Ron, Elvis, Channon, Matty, the 3 Wallaces (particularly Danny), Shearer, (and even Crouch) et al to the recent cash cows Walcott & Bale. (I'm sure I've missed a few favourites, but that's not the point). I would prefer to start at the bottom of the 4th Division with a clean slate, and prove ourselves on the pitch, rather than in the 3rd Division in Court. To an "ageing" supporter like me, it's more important to rebuild our club in a way that will eventually put us back where we should be, rather than be back in the CCC next year. Patience is a virtue. Remember our history.
Wildgoose Posted 23 June, 2009 Posted 23 June, 2009 I'm a similar age to you and think I could handle what you suggest. I am though looking forward to this season once we're sorted. It seems a challenge to rise to....
NickG Posted 23 June, 2009 Posted 23 June, 2009 if we get 10 points back and are in league 1 it will be a lot easier for us to be put back where we belong
chrisobee Posted 23 June, 2009 Posted 23 June, 2009 I'm 53 and remember the really good times but I'd rather we started where we should start which is in League 1, don't recall us being relegated two divisions in one go in all honesty. Going to court is only being considered in respect of the 10 point deduction and not which league we play in.
Trumush Posted 24 June, 2009 Posted 24 June, 2009 For those of you under 50 who are wondering who "Elvis" is,it refers to Terry Paine who for a number of years sported a fine pair of "Elvis" sideburns. Thought I would clarify that one!!!! Take the 10 point hit in L1 then onwards & upwards.
Gingeletiss Posted 24 June, 2009 Posted 24 June, 2009 Lol........the over 50's club, I'm in. 55 and wish there was a kiddies corner on here, so as the adults could debate in a grown up way!!
thorpie the sinner Posted 24 June, 2009 Posted 24 June, 2009 I have a month left of my thirties and I just want to see us playing football!!! without ten point deductionin league 1 would be great!
moonraker Posted 24 June, 2009 Posted 24 June, 2009 if we get 10 points back and are in league 1 it will be a lot easier for us to be put back where we belong We belong where our performance takes us, whilst off the field S**t hasnt helped like all clubs its all sadly part of the real football world. I only thought supporters of Utd, Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal belived in divine right! Hutch's realism is very refreshing.
Glasgow_Saint Posted 24 June, 2009 Posted 24 June, 2009 if we get 10 points back and are in league 1 it will be a lot easier for us to walk this league! dont start all this 'walk the league' stuff again.....

The fan base, stadium, attraction etc all mean the club should be premiership, or at least top half ccc - BUT only when it is run well - the name alone doesn't put you there. I personally thing that is more where we belong than dying in the bottom of the bottom division.

I personally thing that is more where we belong than dying in the bottom of the bottom division. We have to get this right and build a solid base. If the income with the reduced outgoings and crowds for a successful team comes in, we will be one of the best placed clubs in the football league, but we have to get it right.
