Is it Looe golf course where you start on a par 3 in the car park, then move to par 4 with hill in front of the tee so you can see about 50 yards in front of you. Blast the ball over the hill and always lose it!

Rest of course was OK from memory.....apart from par 5 where after two good shots there are 2 greens in front of you ....with gorse between them. Make sure you choose the right green (which is actually the left one).

There's a few nice roads around the back of Milbay docks worth a stroll in the evenings. Beautiful views.

What is it with naval towns and pikeys?

Portsmouth and Plymouth should be declared the Polyester capitals of britain.

The first train out.

How you'd go about 'doing' the first train out I'm not sure, but I agree that if you want to actually enjoy yourself visit one of the surrounding areas rather than the city centre. True, in the summer the barbian and the hoe are great and well worth a visit, but the rest is crap.

If you can't really get away from the city centre then visit Drake Circus if you want to see a smaller and much worse (though slightly newer) version of West Quay.

Go round and tell them the pilgrim fathers set sail from Southampton originally not Plymouth.

That will P-iss them off! ;)

Good one! They only put in to plymouth.

Cole Porter, this is how it should have been written:

Times have changed,

And we've often rewound the clock,

Since the Puritans got a shock,

When they landed on Southampton Rock.

If today,

Any shock they should try to stem,

'Stead of landing on Southampton Rock,

Southampton Rock would land on them.
