Smirking_Saint Posted 21 June, 2009 Share Posted 21 June, 2009 http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/education/8107858.stm Read this today, and i must admit i completely agree with it. I have thought for ages that the schools are too safe, it is all ********. Personally i think that it will seriously damage the next generations, they are all going to grow up scared of everything and competely wrapped up in cotton wool. It never hurt me to get ****ted on the knuckles with a conker, falling out of trees and grazing my legs playing football on the tennis courts. (though the missus will probably disagree)

Thedelldays Posted 22 June, 2009 Share Posted 22 June, 2009 some school playgrounds have been redisigned lately to add more risk in the play areas...
Thorpe-le-Saint Posted 22 June, 2009 Share Posted 22 June, 2009 I would say that it is not so much that schools are becoming 'safer', but more that teachers are worried about being sued by parents looking to make a quick buck if their child does hurt themselves at school. There has been some instances where teachers stopped kids bringing in empty toilet rolls because of health risks!!! Also, it used to be no running in the corridor, now its no running in the playground and in sports day, no one wins just in case the losers get upset. This is true. Being married to an infant teacher, my wife has seen many cases of irate parents coming in to complain that their little treasures have come home with a scratch on their leg. Master Bates Posted 22 June, 2009 Share Posted 22 June, 2009 (edited) I guess this isn't an American article. When they say schools, do they mean in general or just Infant & Junior? If just Infant & Junior then i'm sure they'll toughen up at Secondary School. Edited 22 June, 2009 by Master Bates
