Thedelldays Posted 20 June, 2009 Posted 20 June, 2009 (edited) if we manage to get out of this -10 points due to our odd set-up of 2 companies...? Edited 20 June, 2009 by Thedelldays
Faz Posted 20 June, 2009 Posted 20 June, 2009 Wasn't it the FA/PL who insisted on the two tier set-up. They couldn't accept a plc as the licence holder, as the plc would be bound by Stock Exchange rules, whereas, as we've seen, the FA/PL/FL can do what they like?
Red And White Barmy Army Posted 20 June, 2009 Posted 20 June, 2009 um. no. he didn't set up 2 companies with the intention of avoiding a 10 pt penalty. if he had done then fair play. but he didn't and he is a ****
Micky Posted 20 June, 2009 Posted 20 June, 2009 Why not - no matter what, he didn't go out to purposely put the club into administration - he tried, he failed.
Faz Posted 20 June, 2009 Posted 20 June, 2009 We won't get out of it... We might you know, simply through the incompetence of the FL.
saint_ed Posted 20 June, 2009 Posted 20 June, 2009 We might you know, simply through the incompetence of the FL. The Football League will never back down over this. They know that it would set a precedent for other clubs to take them on.
Matthew Le God Posted 20 June, 2009 Posted 20 June, 2009 if we manage to get out of this -10 points due to our odd set-up of 2 companies...? It's not an odd setup. That is how Plc's are created. It is the norm! Anyway the Plc was setup about 8 years before the points deduction rules were created.
Matthew Le God Posted 20 June, 2009 Posted 20 June, 2009 They know that it would set a precedent for other clubs to take them on. Only if their cases were the same. Which none of the previous ones have been.
saint_ed Posted 20 June, 2009 Posted 20 June, 2009 Only if their cases were the same. Which none of the previous ones have been. Well we shall see. Perhaps its my disillusion of our circumstances and continued disappointment but I just cant see how the takeover will go through unless we take the deduction.
SaintRobbie Posted 20 June, 2009 Posted 20 June, 2009 if we manage to get out of this -10 points due to our odd set-up of 2 companies...? Errrr no. We would be thanking him if he'd sold the club to Pinnacle and delisted the plc last summer as he should have done... but I'm afraid the man's reputation is lower than his name suggests and always will be. He killed Saints. But, MLT will bring it back.
corsacar saint Posted 20 June, 2009 Posted 20 June, 2009 No, the man and his cronies have all but killed off our beloved club.[ As politely answered as is humanly possible under the dire ciircumstances we are now in].
Belgiansaint Posted 20 June, 2009 Posted 20 June, 2009 OK, Micky, he didn't do it on purpose (at least we all hope). But why does he leave unscathed - perhaps but for his ego - and the players are penalised?
VectisSaint Posted 20 June, 2009 Posted 20 June, 2009 if we manage to get out of this -10 points due to our odd set-up of 2 companies...? No of course not. The man (and Wilde) is the reason we are in the **** in the first place. If he had been even half intelligent he would actually have ensure we went into administration a little earlier then we would not have a 10 point penalty this coming season at all. the guy is a *****, and no thanks should be going his way.
70's Mike Posted 20 June, 2009 Posted 20 June, 2009 i was really hoping we had heard and read the last of that man's name
ottery st mary Posted 20 June, 2009 Posted 20 June, 2009 (edited) The man is a buffoon who has ruined this football club. Good riddance to an incompetent fool. Edited 20 June, 2009 by ottery st mary spellin as copying too many other posters
Colinjb Posted 20 June, 2009 Posted 20 June, 2009 Not a chance, I'ld be more enclined to hate him further for his seperation of the club and holding company which could potentially and ultimately scupper the Le Tiss/Pinnacle takeover just because he tried to be a clever f**ker! EPIC FAIL
Leslie Charteris Posted 20 June, 2009 Posted 20 June, 2009 The one reason to set up a plc holding company is to line the pockets of those with shares. The only thing RL will get from me is an ironic smile as he counts his losses.
aintforever Posted 20 June, 2009 Posted 20 June, 2009 No way, if he had put us in admin a few days earlier the 2 company thing wouldn't have even mattered. Lowe ****ed us up big time, it wouldn't surprise me if he delayed admin out of spite.
Micky Posted 20 June, 2009 Posted 20 June, 2009 OK, Micky, he didn't do it on purpose (at least we all hope). But why does he leave unscathed - perhaps but for his ego - and the players are penalised? He leaves unscathed because that is the nature of the unfair world in which we live. Shareholders have lost money (but thats a risk any shareholder runs), I don't know for sure but I would imagine that RL has lost quite a bit of credibility in business circles since this whole sorry mess went public, so perhaps he doesn't get off scot free.
derry Posted 20 June, 2009 Posted 20 June, 2009 The league can't scupper the Pinnacle deal. Pinnacle have to do that by not accepting the points deduction unless they persuade/force the league to re think. Stating the bloody obvious, if they accept the points deduction the deal can be closed immediately.

Pinnacle have to do that by not accepting the points deduction unless they persuade/force the league to re think. Stating the bloody obvious, if they accept the points deduction the deal can be closed immediately. But I think the question may be....what actually is the points deduction they will now make us accept?...I’m absolutely ****ting it here tbh.
rocknrollman no2 Posted 20 June, 2009 Posted 20 June, 2009 No, he's a **** and has ruined our club. Totally agree with this.
Justin C Posted 20 June, 2009 Posted 20 June, 2009 He was a good business man i agree but he could make the link between that and football. he did do us some favours like relegation contracts but he had no clue about football
RobM Posted 20 June, 2009 Posted 20 June, 2009 Forget the two company thing.... Lowe should have put us into Admin earlier when it was clear to all that we were relegated, so we took the 10 point penalty this (last...) season. So no, we don't thank him, we instead suffer another of his stupid, badly thought out ideas that will haunt us for some time.
rocknrollman no2 Posted 20 June, 2009 Posted 20 June, 2009 The only thing we should thank Rupert for is for leaving. Lowe dont ever darken our doors again.
david in sweden Posted 21 June, 2009 Posted 21 June, 2009 It's not an odd setup. That is how Plc's are created. It is the norm! Anyway the Plc was setup about 8 years before the points deduction rules were created. As you say, the idea of having one (or several) companies is a good way to monitor the profitability of one unit against another. IF - the stadium is "owned" by another seperate company within SLH then it doesn't " belong" to Saints, but to SLH. (just as the club does and the catering side) The majority of the debt (as I understand it) is the cost of the stadium debt. The FA's prev. enquiry stated that the club and SLH were inextricably entwined is bl**dy obvious - but it doesn't answer the question as to whom actually in " in administration " the holding company ......or SFC.? Many large Prem.sides have a similar structure. Would Liverpool or Chelsea be relegated / deducted points if they went into admin. when thee is a holding company cotrolling everything else ? I doubt it ! It surely needs the High Court / House of Lords to make a judgment on the ownership question, and the FA to own up and make a just decision. Precedents are created all the time - perhaps it's time to clarify the situation. M' Lord !
Gorgiesaint Posted 21 June, 2009 Posted 21 June, 2009 But I think the question may be....what actually is the points deduction they will now make us accept?...I’m absolutely ****ting it here tbh. Actually a valid point. The assumption appears to be that the fight is over the 10 point deduction, but could it actually be that Pinnacle are fighting against a further points deduction (ie FL want a further 15 because we don't have CVA & Pinnacle say we don't need one?) If they are fighting the 10 points then fair play to them, but I for one would just accept & lets get on with planning for the new season.
Wopper Posted 21 June, 2009 Posted 21 June, 2009 Lowe should have sold out to Crouch when he had the chance.
Fan The Flames Posted 21 June, 2009 Posted 21 June, 2009 its like thanking a mugging for not murdering you
eelpie Posted 21 June, 2009 Posted 21 June, 2009 if we manage to get out of this -10 points due to our odd set-up of 2 companies...? F***k Rupert. He's taken ten years off my life.

If only people could learn that it is the Football League and not the Football Association, then at least one good thing would have come out of this sorry mess.

Pinnacle have to do that by not accepting the points deduction unless they persuade/force the league to re think. Stating the bloody obvious, if they accept the points deduction the deal can be closed immediately. If the FL are holding out for Pinnacle to agree not to contest the 10 points deduction, Pinnacle should hold out for no further deductions. On that basis I would agree to only minus 10 points. (But the trouble is that Mawhinnbag is such a slimy fish and he makes up the rules 'on behalf of all the other clubs' as he goes along).
georgeg Posted 21 June, 2009 Posted 21 June, 2009 I have two simple words for the pompous, arrogant tw*t the second one is off - I'll leave the rest to you!!!!
