Matthew Le God Posted 19 June, 2009 Posted 19 June, 2009 Cheers Tony for the update Dear All I know many of you are sitting tight eagerly expecting some news, so I'm taking 2 minutes out to make you aware of some issues that we are trying to resolve to complete our takeover. Please respect the fact that I cannot go into the finer details of some of the legal issues - myself, colleagues and clients are bound by a non disclosure agreement in respect of the sensitive details, and this will be adhered to at all times. You may be aware that a brief announcement was made earlier this afternoon confirming that, despite our continued efforts, there are some outstanding issues to resolve prior to us being in a position to completing our takeover. There are to my mind 2 legal issues - questions which need to be answered. These I am sure will be put to bed without delay. A further remaining issue is that of the Football Leagues position over our license. Again, it would be hoped that this can be confirmed without delay. My colleagues and I, clients and the Administrator have made our position clear to the Football League on the detail of this issue. I cannot go into it now, but it is cricitcal that this is resolved, and in a timely manner. We will continue to work hard with the Administrator to resolve this, as this is in my view the final piece of the jigsaw. My hope is that all outstanding issues will be resolved without undue delay, as we are itching to get on with the important job of rebuilding this great Club - both for ourselves, the supports, and the wider community. I hope the next announcement that we can make will be to introduce your new owner and Board, and our opportunity to set out our vision for the future. Best wishes to you all Tony Lynam
CWD Posted 19 June, 2009 Posted 19 June, 2009 This is really impressive, he must so busy so to take time out for the fans is great of him. Thanks Tony
Wicked Mush Posted 19 June, 2009 Posted 19 June, 2009 Sounds more positive - please let this get resolved.
Saint Billy Posted 19 June, 2009 Posted 19 June, 2009 Many thanks Tony. I appreciate the time taken to update us. It helps a little, but I think most of us will still spend the weekend chewing whatever is chewable. You guys must be down to the ankle by now.
Northam Girls Posted 19 June, 2009 Posted 19 June, 2009 Thank you Tony for the update. It is nice that the fans are the first to hear for a change. My hopes and prayers are with you for a successfull conclusion to the take-over. If it takes a few more days it will be woth the wait providing the answer is a positive one.
St Marco Posted 19 June, 2009 Posted 19 June, 2009 Thank you for the update Tony. I know all too well these hic-cups that hinder the progress of deals being concluded. Im sure all of us appreciate the amount of time and effort you are putting into this deal along with Matt and Leon. The jigsaw will fit into place eventually and we will all be much better off for it. We have waited years for the end of the dark Lowe era so waiting hours or a few more days would be a price we would all gladly pay to see the end of it. Thank you for taking the time to inform us all.
Spudders Posted 19 June, 2009 Posted 19 June, 2009 Thank you Tony for the update. It is nice that the fans are the first to hear for a change. My hopes and prayers are with you for a successfull conclusion to the take-over. If it takes a few more days it will be woth the wait providing the answer is a positive one. Here here
Johnny Bognor Posted 19 June, 2009 Posted 19 June, 2009 Should we now hit the FL switchboard with calls and bombard them with emails to let them know what the fans think? ...just to apply a bit of gentle pressure.
NickG Posted 19 June, 2009 Posted 19 June, 2009 thanks for the update, shame- and appreciate the reasons- it can't say much. Good to think if us tho
homesick-saint Posted 19 June, 2009 Posted 19 June, 2009 what a fantastic attitude these people have. They really are focussed on the fans Good luck to them in all their efforts
yorkie Posted 19 June, 2009 Posted 19 June, 2009 FL to hold an emergency meeting on Monday afternoon - not much of an emergency if it can wait that long - why not do itover the weekend? Next season beckons on a level playing field!
fareham saint phil Posted 19 June, 2009 Posted 19 June, 2009 Thanks for the update as all we have to go on is the doom and possible gloom sky reporter, these updates are appreciated but somehow make me more nervous!! ie critical in a timely manner, the FL cant do that without losing face thats my worry
Footballfan Posted 19 June, 2009 Posted 19 June, 2009 thanks for the info, we are always pleased to have feedback from yourself, just hope the next time it's better news
sotonswan Posted 19 June, 2009 Posted 19 June, 2009 I'd be very surprised if the FL did anything other than re-iterate that the penalty stands, but if the new owners (when they are owners) wish to appeal, they are welcome to do so through the official process and timescales. Presumeably such a response doesn't really affect the purchase.
Viking Saint Posted 19 June, 2009 Posted 19 June, 2009 blimey, somebody in senior management who actually gives the fans the time of day and is tune with our concerns....top man!!!
S-Clarke Posted 19 June, 2009 Posted 19 June, 2009 Top man tony - thanks for the message. I don't envy you guys at the moment; it's a nightmare for us and we’re only on the outside... good luck...
lee_saint Posted 19 June, 2009 Posted 19 June, 2009 Cheers Tony for the update. Sadly, I can't see the football league backing down.
RedAndWhite91 Posted 19 June, 2009 Posted 19 June, 2009 Thanks Tony for the update, the communication with the fans is really top stuff. Keep up the good work, and good luck.
Sevvy Posted 19 June, 2009 Posted 19 June, 2009 Thanks for the update, lets hope every thing goes through as the frustration is driving me nuts.
Draino76 Posted 19 June, 2009 Posted 19 June, 2009 Who is Tony Lynam? The brother of Des, my sources are telling me.
Smirking_Saint Posted 19 June, 2009 Posted 19 June, 2009 Who is Tony Lynam? The figurehead of the takeover, dealing with Fry and speaking directly to the money men....... i believe. Seems an all round good bloke.
Nutwood2 Posted 19 June, 2009 Posted 19 June, 2009 Cheers Tony for the update. Sadly, I can't see the football league backing down. Why?
isplumm Posted 19 June, 2009 Posted 19 June, 2009 SSN have just stated that the delay is that the FL want Pinnancle to sign something saying they will not appeal 10 point deduction .... Pinnacle & Admin don't agree to this .... everything else ok .... BUGGER!! Mark
Saint137 Posted 19 June, 2009 Posted 19 June, 2009 Why? Because they're a bunch of self-important egotistical ******s?
Mr Saints Posted 19 June, 2009 Posted 19 June, 2009 SSN have just stated that the delay is that the FL want Pinnancle to sign something saying they will not appeal 10 point deduction .... Pinnacle & Admin don't agree to this .... everything else ok .... BUGGER!! Mark FL = bunch of ****s. None more so than Mahwinney. Wnker.
Glasgow_Saint Posted 19 June, 2009 Posted 19 June, 2009 Why don't they just sign the agreement 'Micky Mouse' and then once PL agree to takeover, go hahahaha we didnt sign it proper, we will see you suckers in court, then run of laughing?
Saint_Jonny Posted 19 June, 2009 Posted 19 June, 2009 so it looks like we wont get bought out unless the FL back down, which will NEVER HAPPEN. Man this SUCKS!
oggiee Posted 19 June, 2009 Posted 19 June, 2009 Does this mean that the FL now know we have the upper hand fi we take them to court?
Minty Posted 19 June, 2009 Posted 19 June, 2009 I'm no legal expert but surely 'we' (the club/Pinnacle) have a legal right to appeal the FL's decision, so to try and prevent us doing so is potentially illegal?
L1Minus10 Posted 19 June, 2009 Posted 19 June, 2009 If that's true about 'only if you don't appeal' then that has to be illegal doesn't it...
Minty Posted 19 June, 2009 Posted 19 June, 2009 If that's true about 'only if you don't appeal' then that has to be illegal doesn't it... Great minds... (and ours! )
Leslie Charteris Posted 19 June, 2009 Posted 19 June, 2009 so it looks like we wont get bought out unless the FL back down... I think these guys have invested too much to pull out now. Good for them for pushing the FL and their arbitrary and unfair decisions. I hope the consortium's lawyers are up for a fight.
SFC Forever Posted 19 June, 2009 Posted 19 June, 2009 Yes I reckon it does now. Trouble is we need them to do the unthinkable and back down.
mattyd Posted 19 June, 2009 Posted 19 June, 2009 Why has Pinnacle taken so long? Why the legal issues so late in the day? I think the FL should have been delt with earlier. I fear Monday is the end
Glasgow_Saint Posted 19 June, 2009 Posted 19 June, 2009 do we need a seperate thread for this? also thread named "Would You Take The Ten Point Deduction" and "FL to hold emergency meeting" surely ALL can be discussed in the "takeover day latest" thread?
L1Minus10 Posted 19 June, 2009 Posted 19 June, 2009 do we need a seperate thread for this? also thread named "Would You Take The Ten Point Deduction" and "FL to hold emergency meeting" surely ALL can be discussed in the "takeover day latest" thread? Who ****ing cares
Glasgow_Saint Posted 19 June, 2009 Posted 19 June, 2009 Who ****ing cares me!! flicking between 4 or 5 threads for news is a pain in the ass
John Smith Posted 19 June, 2009 Posted 19 June, 2009 Personally, I think we're missing something crucial in all of this, and that is the arrangements that lead to Saints becoming a PLC in the first place! I don;t what to drag up old whatshisface, but the simple fact is, the league sanctioned this reverse takeover, and now it's gone belly up, they're sticking their head in the sand and denying the facts, and those facts are stated in their rules AND the law of this land. The FL should back down, allow the takeover to go through, remove the 10 point penalty AND THEN change the rules to capture this loophole or accept that it is legal for clubs to exist and trade in this way! The FL is acting just like F1 on this and it is the fans that suffer, nobody else. Boooooooo FL! Bunch of old timers, running out of time, tick tock, tick tock!
NickG Posted 19 June, 2009 Posted 19 June, 2009 How fair will the FL look if they let a club go out of business just because they were not willing to let a fair impartial trbunal look at their decision on points? They would look awful and IMHO wouldn't let it happen
wightman35 Posted 19 June, 2009 Posted 19 June, 2009 It is good to be kept informed of the situation. My understanding, which may be entirely wrong is that the league management consists of some paid employees and a group of other clubs chairmen. Hardly an independent, unbiased body in my mind to give us a fair hearing. It seems they can make up their own rules and revise the interpretation as they go along. If you don't agree they dock more points and or see you go bust.

No it didn't, we were in the FA Premier League at the time, nothing to do with the Football League.
docker-p Posted 19 June, 2009 Posted 19 June, 2009 No it didn't, we were in the FA Premier League at the time, nothing to do with the Football League. This was pre Premiership days i think.
PaulSaint Posted 19 June, 2009 Posted 19 June, 2009 Appreciate the update Tony, breath of fresh air after years of Duck Face. Good luck with it all over the weekend!
Ricky Redstripe Posted 19 June, 2009 Posted 19 June, 2009 I fear Monday is the end Bloody hell, don't go near any razor blades over the weekend will you!!!
chrisobee Posted 19 June, 2009 Posted 19 June, 2009 I'm no legal expert but surely 'we' (the club/Pinnacle) have a legal right to appeal the FL's decision, so to try and prevent us doing so is potentially illegal? Yes, 100% exactly what my thoughts are so it's nice to agree with you Minty It's essentially the FL trying to rail road Pinnacle into signing an agreement when if they are so sure the points deduction is legal why do they need to do that?
supergoose Posted 19 June, 2009 Posted 19 June, 2009 How refreshing for us fans to be dealt with as if we actually matter. Thanks Tony.
