OldNick Posted 2 July, 2009 Posted 2 July, 2009 I think that Little Old Lady Who WAS the punchline!!! Ohhhhhhhh, it must be funny when Tony Blackburn used it or not
trousers Posted 2 July, 2009 Posted 2 July, 2009 Swiss to take over this afternoon. Press conference at 2pm
Toadhall Saint Posted 2 July, 2009 Posted 2 July, 2009 Why do people do this? Do you honestly think that its hard for ANYONE to call SMS and ask if there has been a press conf arranged for today? They used to ask what paper you were from, now they dont even do that. Shocking as it is, they have no knowledge of a press conference being called today. Its really starting to **** me off TBH. If you have info you want to pass on great but can you please give it some kind of backing ie a taxi driver told me..... or Mark Fry told me......or my talking parrot told me......
Toomer Posted 2 July, 2009 Posted 2 July, 2009 Not everybody, I think you'll find that both Toomer & I have consistently voiced this concern. The thing is we have both become cynical in our old age.
trousers Posted 2 July, 2009 Posted 2 July, 2009 Ohhhhhhhh, it must be funny when Tony Blackburn used it or not Keep up Nick...
Um Bongo Posted 2 July, 2009 Posted 2 July, 2009 Ha, I'm off on Holiday now. What a great time to go away without football for a week. When I come back hoepfully the club will have new Owners, we will have lost to Eastleigh and made at least one signing. For those who aren't going away and will watch and wait for takeover news, I salute you.
ottery st mary Posted 2 July, 2009 Posted 2 July, 2009 There are a lot more fans with the same worries as you..ESB, TOOMER and RICHMOND... I have always thought there was something strange about the.. Jan transfer sales policy or lack of it..Administration itself...Unexplained cheques presented, -10 points and cut off date etc...Certain peeps still in place at the club, Jones and Tointon as Directors, Wotte running the side.. which I find totally absurd in view of what he achieved all season.........Even the Administration company their staff and recent strategy concerns me. I can hear the rustle of Ra Ra skirts and Pom Poms.. Rupert, The Lavender Hill Mob and THE LUVVIES have never truly gone away... Club on the cheap.....WOULD HE BE SO CLEVER? I HAVE NO TRUST IN THIS PERSON WHATSOEVER... I still live HOPE that real business/footbal peeps......MLT, Salz and Crouchey got to be better than a bunch of Retirement homes peeps... Would Barclays and Aviva entertain Rupert again or would they want a sum of money, at the end of the day, from anyone...

I think we both think there is something strange about the timings etc. You point your finger at RL. Interesting as he and Askham and co had a lot to lose that they had in shares still in the club (whilst it is fair to say they did not pay for them, they were still assets), as for outside spectators ???
ottery st mary Posted 2 July, 2009 Posted 2 July, 2009 Why are these fake press conferences always at 2pm? The real one will be on Friday at 2.30 pm:D
OldNick Posted 2 July, 2009 Posted 2 July, 2009 Why are these fake press conferences always at 2pm?it is the fashion.
Evo Posted 2 July, 2009 Posted 2 July, 2009 So, imagine for a moment what might be the result if somebody had done that.... 1) Fry could have had a fit as it was probably covered in the NDA leading to them being kicked out 2) Aviva could have had a totally different figure or structure that they would accept to the one Fry was asking for leading to a great deal of "confusion" 3) Barclays/Aviva could have refused to have any meetings themselves Now one of those would lead to Fry kicking a bidder out, one of those would seriously unsettle a proper moneyman and one wouldn't make a bit of difference either way.... Would be interesting to find out what actually happened for ALL of the groups. Oh and Benji, you are of course so right. I see where you're coming from, but handled in the right way I don't think there would be any toy tossing. I'm not suggesting marching up there and banging on the door, obviously.

Don't worry nick old boy....This was not one of my dreams......This has been an ongoing nightmare since Rupes turned up in Southampton:rolleyes: One day hopefully the man will leave the football club alone and concentrate on his flourishing businesses like WH Ireland.. Please no more dancing troupe[-o

miserableoldgit Posted 2 July, 2009 Posted 2 July, 2009 Love the photo. Think I got the message. Pic makes me feel even older. There was a film of their Hyde Park(?) open air concert on Sky Arts a couple of months ago. That certainly made me feel old!
ART Posted 2 July, 2009 Posted 2 July, 2009 I have just received an email informing me there is huge problem facing Southampton Football Club if they attempt to play under the name. Being considered by the Football League in Administration they require permission and the licence to play as Southampton Football Club. Does this include friendlies? If they should appear as Southampton Football Club without prior permission and licence they will be under threat of a further points deduction. Can anyone enlight further on the matter and if correct what do, or have, the so called Directors of Southampton Football Club done about it? PS That is not Eric Clapton in that photo, it's Stevie's elder brother Muff Spencer.

Are you not a little concerned that there seems to be no news , considering we got the impression it would happen quickly. We dont have the luxury to be picky Id have thought

All covered by a tax free bonus at the end of the financial year. Factored into my cynical gut feeling.

PS That is not Eric Clapton in that photo, it's Stevie's elder brother Muff Spencer. As far as the FL are concerned Saints have been in administration since April 2nd (???) If what you are saying is true then how come they let us finish the season just gone? How is that, I think, Darlington have played in their division while under admin? i think this may be a bit of a hoax, but who knows with Saints?
SFC Forever Posted 2 July, 2009 Posted 2 July, 2009 I didn't!! As Saints supporters we all need Blind Faith to keep us going with the belief that we will be saved.
StInky Posted 2 July, 2009 Posted 2 July, 2009 PS That is not Eric Clapton in that photo, it's Stevie's elder brother Muff Spencer. You're joking, right? That must be the Muff Spencer who played with the Stevie Davis Group then!

I believe that our license was revoked when we went into administration but we can still carry on as members of the FL for 18 months whilst in Admin. Therefore although they will not reissue a full license until after any takeover has been complete, there must be some sort of temporary license system, which I'm sure Jones/Tointon are aware of.
Fowllyd Posted 2 July, 2009 Posted 2 July, 2009 Found a new one while in UK..... Not on sale here so brought some back with me.... Branston Hot Jalapeno relish.... much better Just checked the cupboard and we've run out! Is this is the tomato based one in a squeezy, stand on the lid type bottle? It's superb with a nice mature Cheddar and lifts a Bolognaise sauce no end! A sauce that bites you back. It's also fabulous on a nicely griddled burger. Best get out and replenish your stock...
thorpie the sinner Posted 2 July, 2009 Posted 2 July, 2009 Anyone hear solent this morning between 8-9? no why?

Evo Posted 2 July, 2009 Posted 2 July, 2009 I used to work for a company that had a lot of dealings with the Woolwich [building Society, then plc], including up to board level. When Woolwich was folded into Barclays we were unceremoniously dumped and the company eventually folded after a slow lingering death. I've never really cared what happened to the Woolwich bods after then but I've just noticed that one of them went on to form Barclays Capital Mortgage Servicing. Didn't have an awful lot to do with him, it was more his subordinate who I dealt with. At least someone did OK for themselves out of all this crud... They were quite enjoyable days though, thinking of that dump in Crayford they used to have to work in lol. Sorry I know this has nothing to do with Saints Oh except from the fact that I feel like I've indirectly had a double stuffing from Barclays over the last 5 years...
EastleighSoulBoy Posted 2 July, 2009 Posted 2 July, 2009 Anyone hear solent this morning between 8-9? Had it on while I took Chip to school but there was little of interest so I probably missed anything salient?
Master Bates Posted 2 July, 2009 Posted 2 July, 2009 no why? Because I didn't and I think my mate's either on drugs or he's cracked under the heat.
thorpie the sinner Posted 2 July, 2009 Posted 2 July, 2009 Because I didn't and I think my mate's either on drugs or he's cracked under the heat. lol!!
EastleighSoulBoy Posted 2 July, 2009 Posted 2 July, 2009 Nothing at all about Saints at mid day on Solent.
StInky Posted 2 July, 2009 Posted 2 July, 2009 Spencer Davis Group surely Of course, but I think Art's eyes must be going if he thinks that wasn't EC in the photo. And his memory too - Stevie was in Blind Faith and the Spencer Davis Group; Muff only in the latter as far as I am aware.
dubai_phil Posted 2 July, 2009 Posted 2 July, 2009 Anyone with better google skills able to find out if a Mr Richard Fry has recently joined Begbies? Apparently it was on their web site because somebody emailed it to me, however when I google it it shows up on the partner page but there is then no mention of the article, so I am now either in receipt of an email showing games being played OR somebody has covered up and explosive piece of information http://www.begbies-traynor.com/richard_fry/29 and the link to us... http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/saints/untoldstories/4356000.Barclays____huge_profits_will_only_rile_Lowe___Co/ The name occurs just past half way So the man who strangely pulled the plug on our overdraft and appointed Begbues Traynor then appears as a new partner on the BT web site and is then removed... And interestingly the email does have an independent confirmation that the old phot was the same Mr R Fry. But as it no longer exists I can only post the links I can find curiouser and curiouser
Lets B Avenue Posted 2 July, 2009 Posted 2 July, 2009 Anyone hear solent this morning between 8-9? Dont be daft! Life's pants enough at the moment without having to listen to that jug-eared buffoon. Actually I was still asleep. Has the cat been found?
