If a deal is happening it is happening tomorrow after whoever is the real power behind the bid decides to accept whatever FL has got on the table. If not, it is dead. It only means that whoever else comes in will have to accept the deal instead, whatever it means for SFC.

FL don't negotiate, they never have, so why would they now? Whether that makes the deal unfair, unjuste or even illegal, that's it. They know how to get what they want and they have all the power, and Pinnacle has none. It isn't right, but it's the truth. There is, I think, a possibility to sign the deal and then sue them for unfair business practices, but it's a long shot.

I had promised to eat my hat if they changed their mind. I'm putting the tasty old thing away now. The end is here, take it or leave it!

The Club is running out of time, the Club could fold tomorrow and not exist. In a couple of weeks if not sooner we will pass the deadline for entering this year's league...end of Saints..it really is that serious!!!!!

The points docking etc is a result of a bad judgement call by Rupert Lowe thinking that Saints could cheat a rule(s) that every other club in the land has to abide to. We have made a mistake, we have been punished. We should not have been treated any differently to any other club.

But Pinnacle must have known that and were niave to think that they could fight the FL on that rule. Clubs must be thinking who the hell do Saints think they are! Can you imagine if Portsmouth tried to become a precedent....what would we be saying then....

We dont have any more time! Simple as! So if this guy is going to do something its need to be done now as we will not be able to entered into the league without a signature, if not he needs to walk away now. There is no time left to fart arse around.

I admire Pinnacle's vision but they obviously dont understand the moral or gentlemanly rules of the game and have been ridiculously niave if they really werent going to accept any punishment for the past regimes mistakes..

I dont blame them for not wanting to put that amount of money in a club that may be docked however many points it will be but they should have walked away long ago and let someone else have a go who is, if indeed there is anyone.

If the unthinkable does happen it could be the most awful tragic devastating legacy that Rupert Lowe has left us with. That decision to try and cheat the laws of the game could cost us everything....as well as not taking the initial ten points before the spring deadline when the club knowing it was going to go into administration could have done it without letting things get so bad...

I see all sides but am sick of hearing it will happen, dont worry, etc etc because we are going to find out soon that some deadlines are actually final!

Again if it does happen in the next few days, in time for the deadline (definition in dictionary) I will overjoyed, happy, pleased, prepared to say my doubts were wrong but it is now beyond an emergency for Saints....urgency is needed if they really want it!

The -10 points and possibility of further sanctions was spelled out by the FL in their statement back in April. Pinnacle should never have put a bid in if they were not prepared to accept the situation.

My feeling is that they've deliberately picked a fight with the FL that they know they can't win so that they can walk away with some measur eof good grace.

Where's MLT?

I thought there was even some conjecture about who paid the exclusivity money - someone suggested that LC might have been stung there.

Who knows what's true - I certainly don't. All you can say is that if Pinnacle's handling of the whole FL issue is to be taken at face value then they and their advisers are incredibly stupid.

Same old crap - different board (maybe)

What if they put a bid in on the basis of begbies telling them they would be able to contest the points appeal ?

I am going to guess that the t&Cs of the exclusivity period with Begbies had the appeal as worthy of being contested. Pinnacle had everything going to plan and submitted stuff to the FL early last week. Then last thursday they tell Pinnacle that they will not allow the appeal.

Well firstly Begbies are accountants not lawyers and secondly one of Begbies' primary duties is to get the best possible deal for creditors.

Pinnacle would be crazy to rely on Begbies' say so on such a big and technical issue.

Thanks - I wasn't far off.... ;)

I get the feeling they may well sell a few more tomorrow morning in that case....

Yes and No... Michael Fialka is the main backer but, interestingly, he is of Jewish background and has a very extensive, and wealthy, network of associates. Hence why the word 'Consortium' is used with regards his bid with Pinnacle.

I've just asked someone who has previously played for London Lions about this guy and they've given the whole 'gonnegshuns' talk, about how a fair few involved are minted and that they wouldn't be surprised if this guy is in with a few (even though they don't necessarily know the fella).

I'm inclined to agree - bit odd that the points deduction became such an issue so late on when it's been up there in lights since April. Maybe they realised they couldn't see it through and need to walk away with grace. MLT has also been quiet recently.

All is being asked for is the right to appeal - that is not cheating. Anyway I thought Derby set the precedent a few years ago. The Football League and politician Mawhinney should have been more careful in their writing of the rules. Otherwise - like everyone else I want it all over and done with. Clearly not many writers here play poker.

Okey dokey, just so long as the star prize is not a poorly built catamaran.

I'm guessing your location says the excrement is going to hit the fan after the Echo tomorrow? In other words, what we're all fearing is true :(

[waits with calm anticipation, ooooh the suspense]

I thought they were being careful when they wrote the 'catch all' rule that gave them the ability to use their discretion when an unaccounted for scenario arose?

The trouble is that everyone on here is fed up with the gambles and shambles past owners of our club have made.

They came into run the club and Fry openly talked about the points decision. They had other people dla piper ? Someone amongst that lot must of carried a review of this points deduction and its likely appeal.

You have to buy it as an add on to the News package (£1). if you don't have Sky then you get it on freeview.

An extra Pound ??? May be worth it, but a tad harsh seeing as i have the bloody sky sports package.

Do you have Freeview? Because you can get SSN on terrestrial digital.

No, got rid of when i got sky, was aware of this though.

You have the internet though, just a bit short of initiative?
