Wade Garrett Posted 23 June, 2009 Share Posted 23 June, 2009 I was Saints lawyer I wouldn't make any money by dragging everything out over every single sentence, but that doesn't make me wrong. We won't get the 10 points recinded and if we ever do "appeal" to the FL, the Court of Arbitration for Sport, the high court, Watchdog, the European Union, Norwich Union, the Pope or Lynne Foulds Wood we will never, ever, win. All of you can come and poo on my head if I'm wrong. I'd rather take your word for it than give you a Bournville Bowler.

FarehamRed Posted 23 June, 2009 Share Posted 23 June, 2009 For goodness' sake, have some patients people! It's not just about the 10 points, it's about the extra 15 points we could be deducted for not having a CVA. I trust MLT and Pinnacle, and if things take a few days longer than we'd all like, then so be it!
aberdare Posted 23 June, 2009 Share Posted 23 June, 2009 I never knew we had such a bunch of lilly-livered surrender monkeys as fans! By the letter of the law we have been cheated, and are being asked to give up our right to appeal be an organisation not fit for purpose. An organsiation behaving in the best traditions of a south american banana republic, changing the rules to suit them. The more Pinnacle push the League and their old school tie brigade the better i like them. I can see and sympathise with the emotion but still struggle with the factual grasp on reality. If SLH was nuked could SFC have paid the wages last month or this: A. No If SLH are nuked would SFC have a ground: A. No Did SFC, who were not in administration, appeal within 7 days of the league decision A. No Do the League rules permit appeals? A. Yes Do the league rules have terms? A. Yes they must be lodged within 7 days. Ergo: If SLH was nuked could SFC play this season - A. No The semantics are fine and dandy, but who is kidding who? I think a lot of effort is being wasted on causes which are simply not ultimately winnable especially in a members club. In the meantime pay day approaches again. It is hard not perhaps to ponder that the funding available from the Pinnacle backer, however wealthy he or she may be, perhaps is only at a level which means promotion year one is a pre requisite as there is no offer of sustaining L1 football, and the club will struggle to survive in L1 longer term. That would in fact fit with a non football fan act of generosity. I wonder if any of the Pinnacle Group can confirm that promotion in the first year while excellent for the the club is not actually a necessity, and that the plan is indeed a long term strategy which would not be impacted by a second year in the long grass? offix Posted 23 June, 2009 Share Posted 23 June, 2009 no they should not! They are showing some balls and trying to get the best possible deal for SFC. Why oh why are some people so obsessed with Pinnacle just rolling over and doing exactly what the FL say. I would rather go down fighting than roll over and be the sort of club that says "thank you sir and by the way please feel free to whack me again whenever you feel like it" Finally someone who I agree with. 100% right! Crispypie Posted 23 June, 2009 Share Posted 23 June, 2009 II think we should also keep in mind that this is not about a couple of hundred pounds! aberdare Posted 23 June, 2009 Share Posted 23 June, 2009 Finally someone who I agree with. 100% right! Ok, so SFC fight the battle, lose (90+% odds to everyone outside of SO postcodes) and as a consequence are expelled from the League or deducted another 15 points and then have to rebuild from L2 (perhaps at best?) Worth it? 100% right to fight as you suggest? Interesting theory, but again emotions perhaps running away with things?

Many things may happen between now and the start of the season but being expelled from the League or being forced into League 2 is not one of them. Too much scare mongering on here, Pinnacle are quite within their rights to clarify any issue they please and no matter how people regard the FL at the end of the day they have an obligation too and will no doubt fulfill this. The people I feel most sorry for are GP's who must have waiting rooms full of nervous wrecks !!

They have already spent 500K. if they can't get the terms they need to make this giant investment worth it, than they will not, and should not, go ahead. Their money, their right to try and get terms that are acceptable to them. If they don't succeed, you'll get the whole cycle over again with the real tire-kicker (Jackson). sunrise Posted 24 June, 2009 Share Posted 24 June, 2009 I wonder why the 'minor hitches' Pinnacle are supposedly having are taking quite a while to sort out? I also wonder what those hitches are? I don't think that the -10 is the only issue. Unless the deal gets completed today or tomorrow then personally I don't seeing happening at all - as you can see I've almost lost the faith.
