I think us lot on here are giving TL more grief than the FL at the moment.

Perhaps we should chill out if at all possible and stop endlessly covering old ground of which we have limited knowledge about (myself included btw).

Agreed. I will attempt to chill.

I have to agree with that totally, but fear the League have made up their mind that the -10 is fair and justified, even if it doesn't actually fit witin the letter of their rules.

I would like to be reassured that this will not be be a deal-breaker, but appreciate that I'm unlikely to get that.

I think that's the crux. It may well be that the Fl's own rules do give us gtrounds for a potentially successful appeal, but the league naturally want us to accept teh punsihment as they see it as within the spirit of the rules and the most 'sporting' decision. I would suspect that a compromsie will eb possible, given that because of the uniqueness of the situation that SFC cannot agree CVA aswe are technically not in administration, some sort of agreement with respect to this would need to be reached so we dont leave the dorr open to further points deductions down the line if accepting the -10?

Thanks for the update... and before you get the wrong impression, I think its born out of the frustration of these last two years let alone the last few months! ;-)

Most I think would agree that waiving a right of appeal is NOT in the best interests of the club, but maybe feel that given the current situation, and whatever the legal technicalties, seeing a confirmation of our survival and the unveiling of the new owner/s and teh positive sthis would bring are in some ways more imporatnt to fans right now than the 10 points - which given the wave of renewed optimism and support could be overcome anyway with the right management in place.... The frustration is not helped by the Football leagues stance as you mention, why insist on no right of appeal if the case is solid anyway - I suspect because in the cold light of legal scrutiny the club may have a techical case, but do we have the stomach for such a fight? There is alos the greater good of the game to consider... the impact that a successful appeal could have on the league and other clubs - I know its not fashionable to consider anything but our own position, but it would be hypocritical of me to condem the the way the game has evolved in terms finace and what this has done to stiffle true sporting competition, if not accepting that sometimes its perhaps better to take one on the chin for the greater good and maintain the moral high ground?

Whatever, I am sure you and your team and advisors will be doing all you can for a successful resoltion and I wish you all the very best in your negotiations.

Thanks for the graft these last months. It is appreciated.

Frank

As usual, a lot of sense in there Frank. I, like you, (and most here) really just want to get on to the important issue of Football.

However, lets look at it from Pinnacles point of view for a moment, and take a more protracted view of the situation.

They naturally want to get the best possible deal - obviously that would be starting on a level playing field with no points deducted. As a consequence they have decided that the right of appeal should stand.

Now take a slightly longer view of the situation as well. What if, next (this) season, we actually manage to get into a play off position - but fail to gain promotion. It is very likely that those points would've gained us an automatic place. All hypothetical, I know, but if it happened, then would we, the fans, not be asking why Pinnacle did not fight for the right of appeal? I think we would.

I'm pretty sure that Pinnacle will complete the deal - they just want the best for themselves, the team and the fans. In order to get that we need to keep our nerve and remain a little more patient.

Oh and BTW - I agree with your sentiments with regard to MJ - he needs to stay away while, how shall we say, 'the preferred' bidders do business.

Im concerned about this now. The FL have made their ruling and they arent going to chage it just becuase someone has taken us over. Why should they and what sort of can of worms does it open

If this mystery buyer does have cash to spend we ought to be one of the best teams in L1 next season and if that means we take time to rebuild the club and it takes a few years to get back into the CC then so be it

Pinnacle have next to no chance of getting this reversed and its a bit odd how they seem to believe they can do? Just buy it and get on with it

They probably won't get it over turned but for the sake of a couple of days i am glad they are atleast giving it a go.

If it does not come off so be it, it will be minus 10 but i am glad they are attempting it.

So I miss the point of this? Its another few days we could be getting the squad together with any new management/coaches and looking at bringing in players

When theres absolutely nay chance of something why bother?

The point being for the sake of a couple of days 4 wins could be the difference between 12 points on the board or just 2.

The extra 10 points if put into context would have saved us this season ?? So if at the end of the season and we end up 10 points short of automatic promotion, would you regret not waiting a few days ?

:D

My sentiments entirely as a fan.

However, if it was my money buying the club, I would want to make damn sure I was getting the best price I could and the -10 points could have a major impact on the club at the end of the season, if we do very well...

Just phoned FL again. Confirmation that the meeting is finished and the decision will be on the FL website in the next 2 hours according to their media dept.

Regards

If there's been a decision then I would hope that our team will be aware of what it is.

I can see it now...

' the football league can firm that it held an emergency meeting today with espect to teh ongoing situation with Southampton Football club. NO conclusions have been reached, but we can confirm that discussions will be ongoing until at least Friday...'

A sensible decision would be to say "Ok, you can appeal BUT if it fails you'll be docked a further 15 points"

That way it's a small moral victory for the Pinnical led consortium, they can take over and not persue the -10 points anymore.

I just want us bought out now!

Is the statement being typed by someone using only their tongue then ? FFS this is beyond crazy _ I can't go home from work until this is sorted - infact I can't even leave my room to go for a pee

I did, and I got away with it!

Enduring image, isn't it?

Does the Beeb know something we don't? They have us at -10 points at the bottom of League 1.

As it stands we are starting the league on -10... this has been the case since April. So unless you have been living under a rock since then, you should know this also.

The whole point of the current goings on is trying to overturn the -10... so unless we suddenly appear to be on 0 points again, they know the same as us
