kpturner Posted 18 June, 2009 Posted 18 June, 2009 Just heard those - which one? One made a good point for all those saying he'll walk if things go badly - we're bottom of League 1 with -10 points, how much worse can things get?!!!How about bottom of League 1 with -10 points with 5 games played?

saintalan Posted 18 June, 2009 Posted 18 June, 2009 I honestly think some of the people on here and some of the fans are just simple. They can't grasp the easiest concept. A lot don't even have a basic knowledge of football. Anything wrong with that. We're all fans some may belong to MENSA, and those that aren't can still sing COYR!
Glasgow_Saint Posted 18 June, 2009 Posted 18 June, 2009 Mods/Admin Apologies if the picture wasn't allowed. what picture?
OldNick Posted 18 June, 2009 Posted 18 June, 2009 Ignore the sponsors name if it makes things easier. This division used to be Div 3, became Div 2 when the Premier League launched, then League 1 when the Championship started.when was it Div 4 then. lol
niceandfriendly Posted 18 June, 2009 Posted 18 June, 2009 http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/s/southampton/8106934.stm Strange how the BBC describes it as "Crouch's Pinnacle group"... that's either inside knowledge or very very sloppy journalism. Although they make a valid point about the photos being next to pointless.
SO16_Saint Posted 18 June, 2009 Posted 18 June, 2009 This feels just like when KK signed for us. Sort of can't quite believe it is happening. Of course things could all go tits up tomorrow. (But as a Saints fan I live in eternal optimism ) **** me - people were on message boards going mental back then, too??? seriously though - this could be a massive coup for the new owner(s) and a 'show of strength' maybe? rearrange: chickens they've count wont hatched till
Redbul Posted 18 June, 2009 Posted 18 June, 2009 http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/s/southampton/8106934.stm 'Relegated League 1 club....'? We haven't got that bad yet have we?
OldNick Posted 18 June, 2009 Posted 18 June, 2009 Look it's quite simple. Initially there was just The Football League (FL). Then FL split into 1 and 2, soon to be joined by 3S and 3N. The last two metamorphasised into 3 and 4. So now we had 1,2,3,4 - quite simple huh? But no! 1 wanted distance from lightweights 2,3 and 4 and so became "Premier League" (PL) enroute to "Premiership" (P). But P's plan was foiled as 2,3 and 4 simply became 1,2 and 3 respectively thus maintaining the same distance from P! 1 (the erstwhile 2) followed P's elitist lead and became CCC. Again 2 and 3 (previously 3 & 4) became 1 and 2 so completing the transition from 1,2,3,4 to P,CCC,1 & 2 -all of which was merely a series of rebranding exercises! If only people put it clearly like that then there would be no confusion
Mr Nice Posted 18 June, 2009 Posted 18 June, 2009 They are not 'Photos' in the Daily Echo and they have no image rights to them.
St Marco Posted 18 June, 2009 Posted 18 June, 2009 Just a point on the whole administration thing, Its quite easy to look back with hindsight to tell if something was a good idea or not and if it comes off it will all have been worth it. (unless it somehow gets worse in some strange way of course) But when Admin was 1st talked about the options you gave above could not have been thought about. Like you said, we were thinking Tisdale and now it seems we are aiming for Keegan! We cant also forget how close we have come to not having a club at all. Its only a matter of time before a high level club folds completly because of a lack of white knights to the rescue. In theory that could still happen to us as we havent yet been taken over! So take us back 6 months and offer admin again and without the crystal ball I would still want us to do everything possible to avoid it and try to make sure there is and always will be a club to support. So if it comes off and we can push on back to where we all feel we should be then fantastic. But I will count ourselves lucky and will pitty any other club that has to go through the same things. Nah i was one of the few who said admin was the best option for us, i was one of the crazy few who tried to explain to people that we were already in admin in everything but name. The club was in pure freefall. The team was awful, the staff were hated and nothing would change. It was just a slow death of blood dripping bit by bit. People see the word admin and they assume all these horrible things. They don't understand the point of it. The reality was as i said multiple times that this club would be bought out once in admin. The question simply was by who? I don't think any of us would of thought a big money man like what we see at Chelsea would buy us but someone with maybe a few million to invest. Someone to steady the ship and start the slow climbing process back to where we were. So admin is not something you want to do, but from a buisness analyst point of view the club was never going to recover without a huge financial injection. It was clear the two board of WIlde and Lowe would not put that cash in nor find someone else to put it in. So without that we would just keep dropping and dropping like other teams have done. Going into admin has given us a chance to finally go forwards.

Mr Nice Posted 18 June, 2009 Posted 18 June, 2009 What are they then? Video Images from cctv
treggs23 Posted 18 June, 2009 Posted 18 June, 2009 Nick even made it onto mediawatch... http://www.football365.com/mediawatch/0,17033,8749,00.html
Pancake Posted 18 June, 2009 Posted 18 June, 2009 Video Images from cctv A still from video image is still a photograph. And anyway, the Echo have said they are photographs from a mobile phone.
Scummer Posted 18 June, 2009 Posted 18 June, 2009 The angle of the 'photo's' would tend to suggest CCTV. Mr Nice is ITK isn't he? Sounds a bit like they aren't too happy this has leaked.
Pancake Posted 18 June, 2009 Posted 18 June, 2009 Looks more like Roy Walker than Keegan to me! Jim Bowen will be next then...
brightspark Posted 18 June, 2009 Posted 18 June, 2009 How very interesting. Would certainly make me a happy chappy. Rather hear the news of Keegan signing than.... hmmm.... Gray, Wigley, Poortvliet, Dodd/Gorman et cetera
SOTONS EAST SIDE Posted 18 June, 2009 Posted 18 June, 2009 Nick Illingsworth has as much PR nous as Chemical Ali!

St Marco Posted 18 June, 2009 Posted 18 June, 2009 what a load of b###### Unlike you nickh i actually speak the truth, I actually said what i said back in Alpines admin thread but for some reason its not in the archives on here. So here is when i said it in february http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?p=202319#post202319 This is what i said "If we go into admin we will see many people come out of the woodwork willing to buy the club because it will have no debts. It will look a better prospect to an investor then having to negotiate with lots of different people for their shares. The last thing the courts will want is to have to re-administrate the company again in a year or two. And with no money and the local population being hostile to Lowe that is what will happen. If he came in with some rich partner then that would be different but he has not done that in the 12 years he has been at the club so i don't see that changing one bit. Going into admin is not a punishment, the points deduction is the punishment. Right now this club is in admin in every way but title. We have had to sack a lot of staff, have had to cut player costs, manager costs, stadium costs etc etc the only difference is Lowe and Wilde get paid while if we were in admin they wouldn't. Now i'm not saying we should officially go into admin but if we are 10 points adrift we have to be honest and say we will not survive. I think a lot of us are nearing that realisation. If we could only win 6 of our games how will we win 50% of our 15 games that are left? Not very likely. If at that point admin guranteed we would be rid of Wilde and Lowe for good; and would mean we can stop the slide like Leeds did and teams like Hull before them did. Then again we have to be realistic and realise that taking the points deduction this year and being relegated is better then waiting to see if we survive then if we do get relegated then starting next year with a -10 start. So my opinion is that going into admin will actually not be any different to what we are currently suffering. We owe a lot of people money. The players we have are not worth what we think. The playing side to the club is the poorest it has ever been, the management side is the poorest it has ever been, the board is the poorest it has been, the attendence is the poorest it has been, the finances are the poorest it has been and so on and so on. If we drift further away from the teams above us then i would vote for going into admin and getting the people out of this club who have brought us here once and for all. This club will never go forward while they are here so the slide will continue. So i would wait for the next 3-4 games, see how they go. If we lose them and are around 10 points adrift i think we will have to accept we are down and going into admin will be the only way to stop the slide further." How ironic though looking at that post, you said "We are not dead yet we have been in a lot worse positions than this before" Lookslike you have a habbit of being wrong about everything doesnt it
Barry the Badger Posted 18 June, 2009 Posted 18 June, 2009 So he is laking for all Saints fans is he? I hope not because saddly he did come across as a waffling knob. To be fair, he never says he's speaking for all Saints fans. He doesn't come across very well though and I've got no idea what point he's trying to make half the time.
Bearsy Posted 18 June, 2009 Posted 18 June, 2009 I have been watching this Keegan story develop with considerable interest, and I have now come to the conclusion that Mark Wotte is Dutch.

niceandfriendly Posted 18 June, 2009 Posted 18 June, 2009 I have been watching this Keegan story develop with considerable interest, and I have now come to the conclusion that Mark Wotte is Dutch. That interview with NI was embarrassing. If the bloke gets nervous when speaking on television why does he still put himself up for it? Give it a rest man, public speaking clearly isn't your forte.

I just said that if we were to go back and without a crystal ball I would still prefer the club to try and avoid admin as I wouldnt want the risk of us being the 1st club to fold completly. we all had opinions and fair play to you for believing that admin would see us OK. I am glad that it appears it has but still think there were other ways that involved less risk. End result is all that matters though right?
Chez Posted 18 June, 2009 Posted 18 June, 2009 I'll be happy with keegan - even if he just gets us out of League 1 then sods off. I don't think tactics come into it at this level so much. we have superior training facilities, our players should be at physically much fitter than players from Yeovil or Wallsall, simply because of the facilities and expertise at our disposal left over from our days in the Prem. Even if we're a goal down, we just need to do a Mohammed Ali and hang in there, when they're knackered after 70 mins we should still be fighting fit and can sucker punch them. But then I thought that about the Championship... why people think that tactics are less important the further down the leagues you go I will never know. I play 5 a side and even at that crappy level tactcis come into play. As for thinking that our players are going to be fitter because we have more dumbells in our gym...gee

I wasent quoting that for you mate nickh said i made it up so just quoted it to prove him wrong what seem the 3 millionth time this year. But your 100% right the end result is what matters and right now all we have is speculation in regards to both owner and what will happen with the manager's position. There is a high chance the press could have done what the press do and make a mountain out of a molehill. Keegan could of been at Matt's for so many different reasons. But you would think by now his agent/spokesman would of come out and denied it if it really was no truth in it. What we do know for sure is at least tomorrow we will have some closure to this whole saga once and for all. Hopefully then we can get over our obsession of talking about chairman, directors and everyone else who we blame for our demise and finally at long last get back to talking about the one thing we all our here for in the 1st place and thats our football team. The politics has gone on for far to long!

SFKA South Woodford Posted 18 June, 2009 Posted 18 June, 2009 The latest bulletin said that a spokesman for pinnacle confirmed that they have spoken to KK, and also that he held futher talks with them at St Mary's yesterday. Since no one posted on here that he had been seen at St Marys yesterday, it would seem that pinnacle have built a tunnel into the ground so that they can come and go without being seen, or have a very good disguise kit, or more likely that the grapevine has been well and truly pruned.

This is the bit that worried me ...KK at SMS yesterday and no-one noticed? Now the paranoia in me is wondering whether this is all a smokescreen....We would of apponted KK if we had taken over - unfortunately we could not complete as the terms Mr Fry offered were not acceptable or do this in time so have to leave this deal? Or has this been released to put pressure on Fry to grant extension? I have not seen any denial from KK though and only TL text to Radio Solent denying anything. However Solent are now stating they believe he will take over.....its all weird.
SFC1906 Posted 18 June, 2009 Posted 18 June, 2009 If this is all true then tomorrow will be my best birthday ever wohoo!!!
St Marco Posted 18 June, 2009 Posted 18 June, 2009 Wonder what the bookies are offering for Keegan to be manager then?
Scudamore Posted 18 June, 2009 Posted 18 June, 2009 I would normally come back asking what you mean but seeing as its you Scudamore i have no need too I can't be arsed to retread an old argument of how ridulously high risk a move it was going into administration because i'm feeling nice and optimistic today! Hopefully nobody else will either because now isn't really the time...
