No chance of getting the actual picture up here? Surely someone will snap it on their mobile, or scan it onto the comp ;)

Quick....have a rummage in the loft for a scanner....:D

Its on the BBC website though so it must have a link.

It was a live broadcast so not sure they would have had time yet to create 'play back' clip, if indeed they feel so inclined

So there's a rumour on here that Keegan will be manager. Echo pick it up and add a couple of blurry photos. Sky pick it up from the Echo. Someone spots it on Sky and posts it on here. And round the circle goes again.

Hope it's true though ;-)

Shall we try it with something else as well, like "Gordon Brown to use taxpayers money to bail out Saints".

FL First Division (AKA Div 1) >>> Premier League (AKA Carling/Barclaycard Premiership) >>> Premier League (AKA Barclay's Premier League)

Level 2

FL Second Division (AKA Div 2) >>> FL First Division >>> Football League Championship (AKA Coca Cola Championship)

Level 3

FL Third Division (AKA Div 3) >>> FL Second Division >>> Football League One (AKA Coca Cola League 1)

Level 4

FL Fourth Division (AKA Div 4) >>> FL Third Division >>> Football League Two (AKA Coca Cola League 2)

How can that be confusing?

I think you will find that the basis is correct, it is what he wants or requires that may stop it.

What im trying to work out is this.

Basically if Keegan comes to be our manager then i cant see him being that without someone telling him he has a bit of cash to spend. I just cant see him being our manager through nostalgia of once playing for us. So if he has been told there will be cash then that makes me think how rich this secret guy buying us is. Because lets be honest here if the type of profile were going for is ex England manager standard then they must have a few bob, we were all thinking Tisdale etc..Lets hope it turns out to be true. It would be the best thing to happen to this club for such a long time. It would also prove beyond a doubt that going into admin was right and more good came from it then harm. Im sure if you asked most Saints fans what would they rather have Keegan as manager, lots of money, no Lowe or Wilde but a minus 10 start in league one. Or bugger all money, Wotte as manager, Lowe and WIlde as Chairman and strugling to survive at the bottom of the CCC then they would choose the 1st option.

So lets hope this really comes true, Saints fans have suffered enough for too long. Time for things to change, its our turn!

Look it's quite simple. Initially there was just The Football League (FL). Then FL split into 1 and 2, soon to be joined by 3S and 3N. The last two metamorphasised into 3 and 4. So now we had 1,2,3,4 - quite simple huh? But no! 1 wanted distance from lightweights 2,3 and 4 and so became "Premier League" (PL) enroute to "Premiership" (P). But P's plan was foiled as 2,3 and 4 simply became 1,2 and 3 respectively thus maintaining the same distance from P! 1 (the erstwhile 2) followed P's elitist lead and became CCC. Again 2 and 3 (previously 3 & 4) became 1 and 2 so completing the transition from 1,2,3,4 to P,CCC,1 & 2 -all of which was merely a series of rebranding exercises!

That would depend what you meant by Div 1.

He managed Newcastle in 1992/3 in Div 1 (now the CCC)

He managed Fulham in what is now League One in the late 90s, then Div 3.

He managed Man City in 2001 in Div 1 (now the CCC) too.

But only one of those is the level that we're currently at.

Just for the record, I think it's a terrible idea, and the arguments against are many and varied. The argument for seems to be "he's a big name and it will get people to attend", but how long will that last if we leak goals and lose games as he chucks 8 players forward and then leaves the club in late August as is his wont?

And in that one season, Fulham ran away with the league managing 101 points. One hundred and one points. Think about that for a minute.

We'll see if this pans out or not, but thankfully your glass-half-empty mentality is firmly in the minority.

Bring on King Kev and let the good times roll!!!!

PS For the record, I also think he managed Man City in the 3rd tier too when they went up.

PPS SSN just mentioned he'd got every club he'd managed up in his first full season... (where promotion was possible of course).

If all this hype is coming just from the photos in the Echo, I'd be concerned, because those photos prove nothing. There is a picture of MLT and the back of someones head who they claim to be Crouch, standing next to a car, and then there is a totaly seperate photo of Kevin Keegan alone wearing a backpack.

I'd LOVE it if these rumours are true, I just hope they're not basing everything on those pictures.

They read out my email on SSN, I should not be as excited by that as I am. :-)

Just heard those - which one?

One made a good point for all those saying he'll walk if things go badly - we're bottom of League 1 with -10 points, how much worse can things get?!!!

I honestly think some of the people on here and some of the fans are just simple. They can't grasp the easiest concept. A lot don't even have a basic knowledge of football.

Please let this be true and not another Paul Allen-esque false dawn. Hopefully our new owner(s) will actually be capable of delivering on their targets (if the Keegan rumour is true) and merely add to the (seemingly) never-ending list of disappointments in recent years.

This is really bad, 5 pages so far and not one dissenting voice - who's gonna be the first to post KK Out!?!?!?!?!?!

:-)

So, the Crouch rumour also appears in the media (as in the enigma code breaker just for St Billy).

Will go find the bottle of bubbly I got to celebrate our survival and may just put it in the Fridge ready for tomorrow's press conference when they sign everything and pay the cash across.

Was the first one they read (my actual name is James), said that Keegan is a legend and would bring optimism back to St Marys but just said at the end I'll not get carried away until we know for definite.

Keegan as manager. It cannot get worse than that.

keegan would be a great signing as manager as he is the type of manager players will stay for / sign for / play for.

he hasn't exactly got a bad record as a coach, but more importanly a big nme manager like keegan would get players to, come, play and stay + the crowds would generate more money, and say what you like, we have to survive and we need the money.

certain fans might not like him, but players do! and thats a good thing

You're all alone! (well, you have The9 for company).

Again, refer back to his record on promotions... and the excitement this mere rumour alone has generated should surely tell you something about his ability to galvanise a club.

Just a point on the whole administration thing,

Its quite easy to look back with hindsight to tell if something was a good idea or not and if it comes off it will all have been worth it. (unless it somehow gets worse in some strange way of course) But when Admin was 1st talked about the options you gave above could not have been thought about. Like you said, we were thinking Tisdale and now it seems we are aiming for Keegan! We cant also forget how close we have come to not having a club at all. Its only a matter of time before a high level club folds completly because of a lack of white knights to the rescue. In theory that could still happen to us as we havent yet been taken over!

So take us back 6 months and offer admin again and without the crystal ball I would still want us to do everything possible to avoid it and try to make sure there is and always will be a club to support.

So if it comes off and we can push on back to where we all feel we should be then fantastic. But I will count ourselves lucky and will pitty any other club that has to go through the same things.

NO

It was Nationwide Division 2

Division 3 was before, L1 was after. [end quote]

So where does that fall in with Pancakes post then? Obviously it was as I had originally said div 3 or L1 now but Pancakes post does not mention Nationwide so its not a case of being simple but forgetting how many names each league has been called in the last couple of decades.

Apologies if the picture wasn't allowed.

Baj is on about recording SSN and posting it so if he is prepared to rob stuff from Sky Sports then the Echo are small fry that will bow down and live in the shade of SWF's greatness and there will be no trouble ;)

There's always one Phil - well, two actually - The9 and Portland Wilfred. You can't please everyone. Apparently the arguments against are "much and varied", although of course neither can come up with any of substance, or based on fact.

Thanks for that DP, Crouch/bad back etc, obvious now.

Ignore the sponsors name if it makes things easier.

This division used to be Div 3, became Div 2 when the Premier League launched, then League 1 when the Championship started.

Nationwide were just the sponsor of the FL after the Premier League ran away.

This feels just like when KK signed for us. Sort of can't quite believe it is happening.

Of course things could all go tits up tomorrow. (But as a Saints fan I live in eternal optimism :) )
