The9 Posted 18 June, 2009 Posted 18 June, 2009 We'll have a franchise. Newcastle become the Southampton of the North, Stoke already the Southampton of the West Midlands. Whatever next? They could start charging Franchise fees and we'd be sorted.

They've got the Angel of the North and we've got the Angel of the South, that Biker pub just up the road from the Eagle. Perfect.
voteforpedro Posted 18 June, 2009 Posted 18 June, 2009 Maybe NI said Keegan has as much Ligue 1 experience as Wotte? To the best of my knowledge that would be true as neither have managed in the French leagues
miserableoldgit Posted 18 June, 2009 Posted 18 June, 2009 Well he will probably be able to sign Barry Hayles again - perhaps just not for £2m. Watch out for Geoff Horsefield and Dirk Lehmann too. I thought that he had given up football to concentrate on trying to save his and his brothers bank.
The9 Posted 18 June, 2009 Posted 18 June, 2009 £2m just on Barry Hayles Nearly 10 years ago, don't forget to factor in a bit of inflation (not so much the last year or so...).
trousers Posted 18 June, 2009 Posted 18 June, 2009 Am recording SSN and will upload the video clip when it comes up again cheers, nice one
Pancake Posted 18 June, 2009 Posted 18 June, 2009 They've got the Angel of the North and we've got the Angel of the South, that Biker pub just up the road from the Eagle. Perfect. Pinder?

JustMike Posted 18 June, 2009 Posted 18 June, 2009 OK, before you ridicule NI, please tell me ...... what Clubs has Keegan managed in Div 1 ???? fulham and man city
Scummer Posted 18 June, 2009 Posted 18 June, 2009 He managed Fulham in what is now League One in the late 90s, then Div 3. It was Div 2 actually.
Leicestersaint Posted 18 June, 2009 Posted 18 June, 2009 This is excellent news - he will bring the 'wow' factor and attract many players who otherwise would not come. We will see more season tickets and generate more sponsorship and we will attract a lot more media attention. As for the churlish curmudgeons on here - haven't we had enough doom-mongering? The glass is now half full!
SW11_Saint Posted 18 June, 2009 Posted 18 June, 2009 Funny, I had a dream (nightmare) last night that Dennis Wise was going to be our new manager - getting King Kev on board would at least make that a non-starter! Others have said it, but I would love it, absolutely love it if KK came aboard.

OldNick Posted 18 June, 2009 Posted 18 June, 2009 It was Div 2 actually. No it wasnt, it was either L1 or division 3 depending what time
StuRomseySaint Posted 18 June, 2009 Posted 18 June, 2009 No it wasnt, it was either L1 or division 3 depending what time NO It was Nationwide Division 2 Division 3 was before, L1 was after.
OldNick Posted 18 June, 2009 Posted 18 June, 2009 NO It was Nationwide Division 2 Division 3 was before, L1 was after. you're tryimg to confuse me now
trousers Posted 18 June, 2009 Posted 18 June, 2009 http://www.goal.com/en/news/9/england/2009/06/18/1332276/kevin-keegan-could-return-to-southampton-to-take-on l Former England manager Kevin Keegan could be set for a sensational return to management as there are numerous rumours circulating that the 58-year-old has held talks with Southampton legend Matthew Le Tissier and former chairman Leon Crouch. Interesting...
krissyboy31 Posted 18 June, 2009 Posted 18 June, 2009 Even as a rumour, it has for the first time in ages, put Southampton back on the sports reporter's agenda. For that reason alone, KK as manager would be a good thing IMO.

Shroppie Posted 18 June, 2009 Posted 18 June, 2009 I thought they were turning into the Southampton of the North. Shouldn't that logically be Northampton?
Shroppie Posted 18 June, 2009 Posted 18 June, 2009 I must admit I do hope this will happen now. I couldn't face the extensive egg-on-face if it all goes t!ts up.
saintjay77 Posted 18 June, 2009 Posted 18 June, 2009 Funny, I had a dream (nightmare) last night that Dennis Wise was going to be our new manager - getting King Kev on board would at least make that a non-starter! Others have said it, but I would love it, absolutely love it if KK came aboard. Im sure we could turn it into some kind of chant that would be easy to follow and put a grin on KK's face
Master Bates Posted 18 June, 2009 Posted 18 June, 2009 Im sure we could turn it into some kind of chant that would be easy to follow and put a grin on KK's face How about "Dennis Wise, what a w@nker, what a w@nker"
krissyboy31 Posted 18 June, 2009 Posted 18 June, 2009 you're tryimg to confuse me now From the time the Premier League started, until the rebanding of CCC, League 1 and L2. The FL changed it's top division to Div1 and the others below to Div2 and Div3. There is probably a team that has never changed division in all those years but have gone from Div3 to Div2 to League 1 just by the FL's rebranding.
yarb101 Posted 18 June, 2009 Posted 18 June, 2009 What baffles me is what role is Leon Crouch playing in all of this. Why should he have been at the meeting with KK and MLT?. Could he be the mysterious backer or already have been identified for a role in the new setup at the club. I'm getting a headache just thinking about all of the potential options !
ladysaint Posted 18 June, 2009 Posted 18 June, 2009 I am excited as well about KK would love to see us win games 4-3, not so happy with losing 4-3 though.

trousers Posted 18 June, 2009 Posted 18 June, 2009 What baffles me is what role is Leon Crouch playing in all of this. Can I be the first to say: "interesting first post after 3 years being registered..."
krissyboy31 Posted 18 June, 2009 Posted 18 June, 2009 Shouldn't that logically be Northampton? Please?!! Have you been to Northampton?
Burger Posted 18 June, 2009 Posted 18 June, 2009 I was convinced that our new manager was going to be Strachen and thought that this was too good to be true. KK would generate so much interest that now GS might even seem a let down!
OldNick Posted 18 June, 2009 Posted 18 June, 2009 This has intrigued/worried me as well. For someone who is not very pro LC, I dont see it as a problem. He may well know KK from contact with LM or socially. I doubt he is the money man as I doubt he has 12-15m spare to invest in football. If he has fair play to him.
golfdelsur Posted 18 June, 2009 Posted 18 June, 2009 Just had call from my son he was outside SMS and KK walked into the stadium with 5 other people he did not recognise
saintjay77 Posted 18 June, 2009 Posted 18 June, 2009 This has intrigued/worried me as well. Carefull I got a slating on another thread for being worried about the same thing lol

OldNick Posted 18 June, 2009 Posted 18 June, 2009 Just had call from my son he was outside SMS and KK walked into the stadium with 5 other people he did not recogniseWas he 100% sure it was KK and not Paul Ince or Garth Crooks??
trousers Posted 18 June, 2009 Posted 18 June, 2009 Just been on BBC News....they say story came from someone who took a photo on their mobile phone of Crouch and Keegan at Le Tissier's house...all in the echo....pic to follow....
Whitey Grandad Posted 18 June, 2009 Posted 18 June, 2009 If nothing else, KK should help sell a few season tickets.
thorpie the sinner Posted 18 June, 2009 Posted 18 June, 2009 Was he 100% sure it was KK and not Paul Ince or Garth Crooks?? lol!!
Burger Posted 18 June, 2009 Posted 18 June, 2009 KK - DoF, GS - Manager??? We've dreamt before. in our dreams only........
saintjay77 Posted 18 June, 2009 Posted 18 June, 2009 Just had call from my son he was outside SMS and KK walked into the stadium with 5 other people he did not recognise Jordan and Jonathan Knight, Joey McIntyre, Donnie Wahlberg, and Danny Wood maybe?
krissyboy31 Posted 18 June, 2009 Posted 18 June, 2009 KK - DoF, GS - Manager??? We've dreamt before. Or KK Dof, Shearer manager. That would really p the Geordies off.
Master Bates Posted 18 June, 2009 Posted 18 June, 2009 Or KK Dof, Shearer manager. That would really p the Geordies off. and Dowie as assistant manager, mwah ha ha ha ha
OldNick Posted 18 June, 2009 Posted 18 June, 2009 thats not Keegan thats the South today sports bloke
Saint_clark Posted 18 June, 2009 Posted 18 June, 2009 No chance of getting the actual picture up here? Surely someone will snap it on their mobile, or scan it onto the comp
