If the Keegan link was extremely unlikely to come to fruition then you would expect Pinnacle to have properly denied it. Afterall it now gets the hopes of the fans up and if now we got say Ince or Tisdale people would be at least a tad disappointed whereas without KK in the frame they would be ok.

unless it's WGS \\:D/

I F*cking give up! How many times do you need telling that he's not coming!!!

For the last time... KEVIN KEEGAN IS NOT THE NEW SAINTS MANAGER!

Surely if something wasnt happening then kk himself would of come out and denied it and not let it get this far with the media, Pinnacle may not be able to comment until the takeover is signed so they may have to keep quiet. I believe that kk will be involved somehow but not as manager, that is my gut feeling. I think that a younger person may come in below him.

I think now it's fairly obvious that talks have happened. We will just have to wait and see what comes from them.

Without reading who said what I can only hope this isn't true.

We didn't get relegated last season because of lack of motivation!

We got relegated because of lack of quality, attacking tactics that teams worked out very quickly and terrible defeding.

KKK has a bad track record in recent times. He's shown repeatedly that he can't handle the pressure, which often originates from his team doing badly and will just walk away. I think he doesn't show much in the way of tactical brilliance and hasn't got much going for him in terms of jobs atm. Premiership manager to div1 manager? That says a lot!

Stop making stuff up.

He walked away from one job - England because the fans turned on him.

He walked away from Newcastle because Ashley is a moron. I think we can all see he was right!

He resigned after achieving promotion.

He walked out on one job.

His management record is what:

Newcastle - promoted and highest ever Premiership position? Tighter defence than Champions United. Win ratio 55%

Fulham - promoted. Win ratio 62% Taking Fulham into the Premiership - that's Fulham, check where they were before.

City - promoted. Win ratio 44%

And England... where he 'failed'.

Keegan gets slated for wearing his heart on his sleeve. Oh for a fraction of the success he's had as a manager!

No one has said he failed especially not in every job as that would quite clearly be making stuff up. We are talking about him walking away which he is quite obviously done and more than once! To say he hasn't is just a total lie.

Keegan would be a phenominal appointment, just for the impact, confirmation of ambition and expectation it would bring.

Tisdale would be an appointment showing a long term comittment to rebuilding.

After those two I can't be optimistic over the names put forward.Shearer has no track record and Ince would be a sorry state of affairs, merely appointing a 'name' for the sake of it.

Ok, but the implication was (as you no doubt know) that he simply walks away all the time. He might well have resigned from all his jobs (and let's face it, he probably knew he'd done all he could), but in all bar one case (forgetting the fiasco at the current Newcastle) it would be extremely disingenuous to suggest that he hasn't done a fantastic job.

People slag Keegan off along the lines that his teams only play attacking football and concede goals left right and centre, which is evidentially untrue. And they also claim he can't hack the pressure - which is also patently untrue. You don't achieve four promotions if you can't handle pressure.

He was an idiot to take on the England job. He found the fans against him and as a proud patriot who wears his heart on his sleeve he gave them what they wanted.

I cannot conceive that any Southampton fan would not want this man involved with the club, but each to their own.

Who gives a flying f*ck whether he has walked away before? Some might say its a good thing. He knows when to jump and doesnt prolong things, forcing his club into paying him large amounts in serverance etc...

The fact is he has a record of promoting every club he has managed. This isnt a coincidence. Yes he's been backed in the transfer marker wherever he has been (bar the brief stint at Newcastle, which was the main reason he left) but justifiably so. If he gets us promoted twice on the bounce and we find ourselves in the Premier League and then he walks away, quite frankly we'll be in a much better position to attract a manager of higher calibre than we are now.

Ince is a ***t of the highest order. Yes, his track record in the lower leagues is decent enough but the majority of fans just wouldnt get behind him as he is a to$$er.

Tisdale is a massive gamble. He's been given a decent amount of time and little pressure or expectation has been put on him. It would be a different kettle of fish with us and who's to say if he'd be able to handle it? I think there are a lot of worse options than Tisdale about but Keegan certainly doesnt fall into that list.

Call me old fashioned, but I am really excited about the prospect of having a side intent on outscoring the opposition and watching a side that thrives on the motivation KK gives. It's been a very long while since we have seen a team full of players that will run through brick walls for the manager. Since 2003 to be precise.

For Tisadale read Wigley or Gray IMHO.

Not even the same ballpark.

Tisdale has some pedigree, and massive potential.

its not just us who talk about him btw, Reading, Watford and Swansea were all interested at one time

they were not managers

they did not manage a team to successive promotions

they were listed as top 10 promising young managers

they were not linked with many jobs including decent level

Ditto, the last bit of this quote....?

"The key creditors of Southampton Leisure Holdings are Aviva, which financed the club’s stadium and is owed £30 million, Barclays, the club’s bank, which is owed £5 million, and Revenue & Customs, which is owed £2 million"

Posted
"Pinnacle will be able to pursue a managerial appointment if it is successful with its offer, which was based on a lower initial payment than a rival consortium, but with money to be paid on possible promotions, including to the Premier League"

Is that new information or have I not been paying attention....?

Old info as far as i can see.

It was the best deal for the club, even if not the highest initial outlay it showed they would invest in the team etc

I don't disagree with any of your points. My reference to the other two is that the general fanbase will be suitably underwhelmed by the appointment that the vast majority would never of heard of. A few bad results and he will be getting the Portaloo treatment.

Reading that Times article when they mention Shearer,WGS,Curbishly and Keegan as our next manager just to me seems really sureal. So sureal that you just know some Pompey bastard somewhere is laughing his ass off or something as once again a false dawn turns us again into a national laughing stock when we announce Wotte on a 5 year contract etc.

We are a club in admin, a club with no money, a club starting division 3 on minus 10 points. There is only one way one of those guys would come here and thats serious £££. Maybe the new mystery owner is a lot more wealthy then we thought?

Keegan is a man who doesn't need to work. He has his soccer school and doesn't need the pressure and hassle of football management. He left his beloved Newcastle after a short second stint and probably thought that would be it for him......Then this happens, it has been proved he has spoken to Matt and Leon, so for him to be interested in a league 1 side it must show the new owner has got some serious ambition. Keegan wouldn't come cheap and likes to have good financial backing when taking a team on. He must still have a love for the club if he is willing to talk. So there could be two outcomes, Keegan has had talks but felt it wasn't enough for him to return to football or this is a wonderful opportunity for him to take this club back to the premiership and make this his last job and finish his career on a high. If he does come to the Saints then the new owner may well be the white knight we have been looking for.
