Based on not knowing our manager, players or the condition of the other teams 7 weeks before the first game kicks off.... a very worthwhile endeavour.. time well spent! :|

Saw exeter play us in a pre season friendly last Summer. They were very good. Not at all surprised they got promoted. You will find they are no pushover.

I think this was the summer before on a very sunny evening game. Last years pre season was cancelled due to the fact that we were drawn away to them in the Carling Cup which would have been a week or so after. Nonetheless, I must agree with your sentiments.

I think you're confusing Mr Eyes with a Saints' fan.

Quite. Could handle one being midweek...but both?!

I'll find a way of making a day of at least on of them though!

Probably through redundancy...

I was there for that friendly and they bullied some of our kids about. Wasnt until Ras and Jesus came on that we started looking a bit better than them. They looked allot more organised than us but then we had GB as manager at the time.

Amusing... seems as though the OS (along with loads of others) didn't manage to get the fixtures live for 10am, having obviously been advertising "see them here first" - http://www.pafc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10364~1694709,00.html

I was quite taken aback by reading that. Being used to an OS where "everything is great" I can't believe how much of a rant at Perform they are having there. Good on them :prayer:

Kinda makes you glad we kept our own site, rather than siging up for that pants offering. Oh...

Have I been too demoralised with the recent goings on, or just getting old!!

Whatever, I look at the fixtures and get an instant feeling of dread as to where the points are going to come from unless we can keep our decent players and strengthen in crucial areas, especially starting from a -10 point situation and historically never winning our opening game!!

The Press Association sent the fixtures out to everyone with a licence at 8am this morning.

Congrats on being the club's "designated website" and thus having permission to print the fixtures in full for only a quid rather than the extortionate rates they usually charge as well, you sly monkeys.

Shame about Swindon midweek. Bring on the Carlisle weekender, Hartlepool midweek is a nightmare!

Charlton & Orient away days both before November look good for a jolly on the train, we must be on our best behaviour though...

Decent Boxing Day and Easter games.

Nothing of the sort - we chose not to even ask the club about the "Nominated Fanzine" status as it may be perceived to compromise the site's independence, so we have paid for a full licence.

Is it just me that feels quite embarassed seeing us plonked at the bottom of league one table on bbc website... stands out like a sore thumb that we have -10 points :S

don't be embarressed, just be thankful we feature in the table at all at this point. Its going to be a long tough season but everyone likes an underdog and we are just that right now.

how much did that cost Steve? Who got the clubs nomination then?

Mad foockers then. But cheers for that, at least we don't have to pretend our personal iteraries include going to see some lions in August any more. :D

PS Does this stretch to hosting a link to a csv file I'm putting together for Outlook ? All but finished for League matches, just need to stick the Cups in.

What an excellent article. Nice to see a club being open and honest with their fans.

no sooner do we sign up do we find out they (Perform) are chumps. Not sure of the financial implications of joining the Perform `group' but I think it is a damn shame that the web business is not performed in house or at the very least by a Southampton based company (apologies of Perform are just that but I would guess they are London based) - I suppose with our recent financial record maybe we are not such an attractive client, but I'd like to see the local community/businesses benefitting from the club which I have no doubt gets a revenue stream from somewhere based on it being a `community club'.

Total was about £450 inc VAT, which is a fair bit cheaper than last season - they have the cheek to charge £104 + VAT for "delivery", which is basically e-mailing a Word document, and has come down from £150 + VAT from last season. Bit of a joke really.

No idea if anyone even applied for it, but I remember speaking to Graham Hiley about it a few years ago and he said they'd probably try to avoid allowing anyone to have that as they didn't want to be seen to favour any one site over the rest.

Should be fine - e-mail it to me when it's done and I'll upload it and link to it from the main site's fixtures page.

Does the licence extend to the forum pages? All part of the same 'shop window' isn't it?

No, for two reasons:

1. We have to display the fixtures licence information on every page where fixtures are shown - the licence information isn't shown on the forum (yet).

2. One of the conditions of the licence is that the fixtures are displayed on a page without adverts. For the normal "Registered Users", they have adverts on every page on the forum, so we'd be contravening those conditions.

Cheers Steve - Makes sense, although sounds like it good be quite straightforward to 'get around' it...i.e. put the licence info up somewhere and only allow people to quote the fixture list on on 'member only' sections.

Anyway, all good. cheers

Where have all the midweek games gone?

I probably get to see up to 8 midweeks H and A in a season, as I can't get to see many Saturdays in Oct-March.

Presumably there are more Saturday games in that we play on international Sats and from R3 of the FA Cup onwards.... bit of a ****er for any other midweek-ers out there ... I can't see the Johnson's having quite the same appeal as regular league games.

I was thinking of an ST if they were the right price but I don't think I can justify it for the amount of home games I can access... pity!

How pathetic is it by the way, that you have to pay to put the fixtures up

Very, although the most pathetic thing is that you have to pay £104 + VAT for the privilege of them sending an e-mail with the overpriced product you've just bought!

Sadly, until someone with bottomless pockets forms a legal challenge to the system (highly unlikely), things will remain the same.

Millwall and Brentford will both bring big away support for our opening home fixtures. We have a realistic chance of over 25,000 for both these games. maybe more depending on who's the manager....
