bungle Posted 17 June, 2009 Share Posted 17 June, 2009 Last game of real cricket before the farcical competition starts up again. Desperately need a win after two recent defeats. Be interesting to see if there are any changes to the team. Vince might stay in, but Benham could well be dropped, I feel.

chrisobee Posted 17 June, 2009 Share Posted 17 June, 2009 Yep but according to the Hampshire site on the ECB website he is in the squad !! Ervine is out injured as is Crawley so apparently the squad is Adams, Carberry, Lumb, Vince, Benham, Pothas, Mascarenhas, Cork, Tomlinson, Griffiths, Tahir, Tremlett Wonder if Tremlett will manage to last the whole 4 days if selected!? chrisobee Posted 17 June, 2009 Share Posted 17 June, 2009 The good news is that Ervine should be fit for our 20/20 matches next week which is important as he's been in really good form.

bungle Posted 18 June, 2009 Author Share Posted 18 June, 2009 Lancashire won the toss and batting, 71/2 after 17 overs. Flintoff came in at 3 and is out.
Leicestersaint Posted 18 June, 2009 Share Posted 18 June, 2009 90 odd for
chrisobee Posted 18 June, 2009 Share Posted 18 June, 2009 101-4, 2 for Dimi and 2 for Cork. Vince is playing so Hants team is Adams, Carberry, Lumb, Vince, Benham, Pothas, Dimi, Cork, Tahir, Tremlett, Tomlinson. Would be nice to see Tremlett get a few wickets though I suspect he's more likely to get injured again !
chrisobee Posted 18 June, 2009 Share Posted 18 June, 2009 Ah t'is now 101-5 and they have amended the scorecard and it seems Tremlett got Laxman and has now got Du Plessis.
chrisobee Posted 18 June, 2009 Share Posted 18 June, 2009 Now 120-6. Tremlett has 3-34. Big question now is can we prevent another tail enders revival ??
chrisobee Posted 18 June, 2009 Share Posted 18 June, 2009 Tremlett has got a 4th, now 135-7 which is usually the point at which things start to go pear shaped
bungle Posted 18 June, 2009 Author Share Posted 18 June, 2009 208 all out at tea. Now what we need is a strong batting performance taking in today and most of tomorrow, getting up around 400 and giving ourselves a chance to win. Will it happen....... Leicestersaint Posted 18 June, 2009 Share Posted 18 June, 2009 50 for 2 - surely someone can make a big score - maybe carberry??
Hatch Posted 18 June, 2009 Share Posted 18 June, 2009 50 for 2 - surely someone can make a big score - maybe carberry?? Not Carberry 71-
bungle Posted 18 June, 2009 Author Share Posted 18 June, 2009 Benham with yet ANOTHER failure in the CC. I'm really not convinced he is good enough, but will bow to those who get to go along more often than I.
saintwarwick Posted 18 June, 2009 Share Posted 18 June, 2009 124/4 at stumps, Vince 34* and Pothas* lets hope these two can push to a big total tomorrow.
Leicestersaint Posted 18 June, 2009 Share Posted 18 June, 2009 Well their stand is worth over 50 - it seems we must rely on Pothas to try to rescue us fairly frequently. The averages of Carberry, Benham, Lumb can't look too pretty. If things go well we might manage a first innings lead of 100. We seem to have gone right off the boil in the CC
Leicestersaint Posted 19 June, 2009 Share Posted 19 June, 2009 345 all out - lead of 137. Hope the weather holds.
chrisobee Posted 19 June, 2009 Share Posted 19 June, 2009 From 235-8 as well !! Dimi scored 108 off 112 balls and put on 76 with Tomlinson ( who made 6) and 32 with Tahir who made 24. Nice for our tail enders to do some damage for once.
mdearlove Posted 19 June, 2009 Share Posted 19 June, 2009 Tahirs 24 coming off just 9 balls!

chrisobee Posted 19 June, 2009 Share Posted 19 June, 2009 Be even nicer if they could do something with the ball as well, Notts currently 144/2. Personally I'm more concerned how Lancs are doing! Coincidentally they are 144/2 as well I don't think we can necessarily blame the bowlers as if Hants can make 345 and take a 1st innings lead of 137 then it suggests that it's not a bad pitch to bat on especially as Flintoff bowled 17 overs and took 2-60. He's now 36 not out which is good news for England even if we would rather he was out. As it is with Lancs only 7 runs ahead but with 8 wickets in hand this looks to be heading for a draw unless we can strike early tomorrow and even then it will probably rain ! georgeismyname Posted 20 June, 2009 Share Posted 20 June, 2009 Good start this morning. Lancs effectively 42-4. Flintoff out c Lumb b Mascarenhas for 54 after a bit of an onslaught by him this morning. Than Mr. Laxman decided to run himself out for 1 Kyle Hogg and Francois du Plessis in at the moment. Lets hope we can knock them over for a lead of 150 odd before tea
Leicestersaint Posted 20 June, 2009 Share Posted 20 June, 2009 Lancs are 208 for 7 - a lead of just 71. If we can carry on like this we could conujure a good victory.
Leicestersaint Posted 20 June, 2009 Share Posted 20 June, 2009 238 for 9 at lunch - that means 101 for 9.
chrisobee Posted 20 June, 2009 Share Posted 20 June, 2009 Looks promising barring a last wicket stand ! Anyway with only Chapple and Keedy left and Tahir bowling well ( 5-94 so far) and Tremlett with two more wickets we should finish them off pretty sharpish and hopefully have a nice win under our belts by tea time. Considering Lancs were 176-2 before Flintoff and Paxman got out that's a Hants style collapse!
Leicestersaint Posted 20 June, 2009 Share Posted 20 June, 2009 Well as you say we're hampshireso coudl be bowled out for 75 but Lancs are all out for 254 meaning we need 118 by my reckoning. It's currently 0 for 0.
chrisobee Posted 20 June, 2009 Share Posted 20 June, 2009 I'm optimistic lol However, I might just return to this site only at 5pm or so to see that you've posted that we cruised to victory !

chrisobee Posted 20 June, 2009 Share Posted 20 June, 2009 Yep excellent win, we found out how to bat and bowl. Well we can do both rather well but lack consistency. It will help if Tremlett can stay fit as he's an important player for us. It's a shame he's injury prone but I feel sorry for him as some players do seem to have never ending injury problems. Anyway a last day report on the ECB website : http://www.ecb.co.uk/news/domestic/lv-county-championship/lan-ham,306170,EN.html
