Lancashire v Hants

Last game of real cricket before the farcical competition starts up again. Desperately need a win after two recent defeats. Be interesting to see if there are any changes to the team. Vince might stay in, but Benham could well be dropped, I feel.

Yep but according to the Hampshire site on the ECB website he is in the squad !!

Ervine is out injured as is Crawley so apparently the squad is Adams, Carberry, Lumb, Vince, Benham, Pothas, Mascarenhas, Cork, Tomlinson, Griffiths, Tahir, Tremlett

Wonder if Tremlett will manage to last the whole 4 days if selected!?

101-4, 2 for Dimi and 2 for Cork. Vince is playing so Hants team is Adams, Carberry, Lumb, Vince, Benham, Pothas, Dimi, Cork, Tahir, Tremlett, Tomlinson. Would be nice to see Tremlett get a few wickets though I suspect he's more likely to get injured again !

Well their stand is worth over 50 - it seems we must rely on Pothas to try to rescue us fairly frequently. The averages of Carberry, Benham, Lumb can't look too pretty.

If things go well we might manage a first innings lead of 100. We seem to have gone right off the boil in the CC

From 235-8 as well !! Dimi scored 108 off 112 balls and put on 76 with Tomlinson ( who made 6) and 32 with Tahir who made 24. Nice for our tail enders to do some damage for once.

Be even nicer if they could do something with the ball as well, Notts currently 144/2.

Personally I'm more concerned how Lancs are doing! Coincidentally they are 144/2 as well ;)

I don't think we can necessarily blame the bowlers as if Hants can make 345 and take a 1st innings lead of 137 then it suggests that it's not a bad pitch to bat on especially as Flintoff bowled 17 overs and took 2-60. He's now 36 not out which is good news for England even if we would rather he was out. As it is with Lancs only 7 runs ahead but with 8 wickets in hand this looks to be heading for a draw unless we can strike early tomorrow and even then it will probably rain !

Good start this morning. Lancs effectively 42-4. Flintoff out c Lumb b Mascarenhas for 54 after a bit of an onslaught by him this morning.

Than Mr. Laxman decided to run himself out for 1 :D

Kyle Hogg and Francois du Plessis in at the moment.

Lets hope we can knock them over for a lead of 150 odd before tea

Looks promising barring a last wicket stand ! Anyway with only Chapple and Keedy left and Tahir bowling well ( 5-94 so far) and Tremlett with two more wickets we should finish them off pretty sharpish and hopefully have a nice win under our belts by tea time. Considering Lancs were 176-2 before Flintoff and Paxman got out that's a Hants style collapse!

Yep excellent win, we found out how to bat and bowl.

Well we can do both rather well but lack consistency. It will help if Tremlett can stay fit as he's an important player for us. It's a shame he's injury prone but I feel sorry for him as some players do seem to have never ending injury problems. Anyway a last day report on the ECB website :
