Keegan as Manager? Rumour or truth

The delight of seeing KK on the touchline would always be tempered with the thought that he could walk at any minute.

He has of course got himself that reputation, however, he has also done a lot of good with Fulham, Newcastle and Manchester City. Personally I think the moral boost on its own would be massive, still it ain't gonna happen so we might as well close this thread before we all get carried away with the prospect; a bit like Paul Allen.

Two reasons why this thread is a load of over the top sensationalist bo11ox. If Keegan becomes manager at THIRD DIVISION Southampton, I will eat my todger.

Kevin Keegan...........give me strength.

My grandad said something similar once, he said "If Keegan ever plays for Southampton, I will eat my todger"

I've never known him to go for a pee.

The quality of players he has at this very moment won't matter... neither will it matter if he has any money or not. The simple fact is people want to play for Kevin Keegan and because of that, he will attract the very best players available to us as a club, budget permitting.

This league does not require tactical nous, it requires grafters who are motivated by their manager. KK is a motivator and people will run through brick walls for him. He is the kind of person who can lead us right back up to the Premier League on a wave of optimism, and give this city and this club the buzz that has long since deserted it. He will unify everyone, even if there are doubters now.

No matter what people say about him, he is a good football manager and is honest enough to know his limitations.

He could turn this club around big style and if any of you think otherwise, well... :o

Absolutely spot on. Some see weakness and an inability to stay and face the music. Some see honesty and an ability to see your own limitations...

I would be ecstatic if the man came here. LeTissier as chairman and Keegan as manager? It would be a ****ing dream come true!

It's the biggest 'no brainer' since King Canute gave up on wave control.

Of course KK would be good for us in League 1. It would heighten our profile hugely, increase attendance, and help sell more corporate boxes etc.

KK has been found wanting tactically at times at the very highest levels, but the lower down the leagues you go the less its about tactics and the more it's about motivation. And KK is very good at that.

I was fairly relaxed about the whole Keegan thing. If he becomes manager then great, if not it wouldn't be a disaster.

However, now I really, really, really want to see him as manager. :smt045

When i started reading this thead I thought "yeah, that would be great, but not a snowballs chance in hell"

5 pages in and you have convinced me !!!

It would, of course, be a dream come true............and its about bloody time we had a dream come true instead of all the nightmares of the past few years.

Look at it from Keegans point of view. He's made his money and this is an opportunity to come to a club who's fans love him and work with Matt Le Tissier who'd be a dream chairman to work under. Purely from KKK's point of view it'd be fun.

WTF!!!! Where the f**k has the optimism come from??

You lot seem to have convinced yourself it's a done deal. Take a step back- Keegan will not be coming here

Don't think anyone is convinced it's a done deal. People have just said it would be great if it does happen, which it would be. You don't know for sure that it definitely won't. He's managed at this level before. exit 2 isn't the type who would just make something like this up.

It's not him saying it though, he his relaying a rumour that he has heard. That's my understanding of it anyway.

well people seem to know he lives on the outskirts of Ringwood. Considering it was posted by the brother of 1 of his bestr froiends Id tend to believe that.

Well he does rent a house between Hedge End and Burseldon and that is fact, I know his neighbour who looked after his house while he was on holiday in the last week or so.

Yes indeed, an absolute nightmare.

Lets recruit a man who turned his back on management and football completely for 3 years and came back to the 'only club he would come back for' and proved he neither had the ability or the fight to tackle the modern game IMO.

We also have reports on here saying that KK has allegedly said he is happy and does not want to come back to football management again as I think he has lost his motivation for the game at the professional level and enjoying his grass roots involvement and fair play to him for that.

So of all the possible candidates for the job most on here are clamouring for Pinnacle to recruit a manager who does not seem to have the stomach for the job anymore based on the fact he was a great player for us for a while about 25 years ago. So what he played in our greatest team so did Armstrong so let's give it to him, or god forbid, McMenemy, LOL. At least Armstong wants the job which I guess would be a start or alternatively we could give the job to a young ambitious manager with current experience that doesn't require some tired old faces having to get involved to persuade them to come to SMS. Lets get a manager because they actually want the job and has some RECENT SUCCESS on their CV and because they want the challenge and are hungry to take the club forward. KK, reign it in, if Pinnacle recruit him it will in the long run only prove one thing IMO. Lets think football not fairy tales.

yes, like JP or MW

KK knows this league and how to get out of it. You wouldnt be so quick to reject if it had been Lowe appointing him

Would that would be the Newcastle that finished 2nd in the Premiership ? A position they have been nowhere near since.

Notwithstanding whether he is or is not the right man for the job - I rather think there is more chance of Madonna giving Gordon Brown a blow job than him becoming our manager !

Not really.

Ex-Player

Daughter still lives in Romsey

He still owns a house just outside Romsey

Looking for work possibly.

Pretty much zero pressure job.

Would not surprise me at all.

typical, let's completely ignore him as the man who transformed Fulham and took them up the leagues and let's concentrate on recent "failures."

1) His failure to take Newcastle down

2) His failure to ressurect Man city

3) His failure to do anything with Fulham

4) His failure to win the league with Newcastle

oh and

5) His failure to win the world cup..

It's truly inbelievable how some fans (ie Numpteeen Canteen) can try and claim the "intellectual" high ground and "think football not fairytales" They'll completely ignore the fact athat at the very heart of thing, Keegan is a bloody good manager. Ask any Man City fan, ask any Geordie, ask any Fulham fan and they'll tell you exactly the same... Their club was only healthy thanks to his involvement.

It's childish, churlish and rather obtuse to just look at his recent record and ignore his very real achievments. The man has a successful track record at this and all other domestic levels. He failled as England manager. So did Ericsson, the difference being that Ericsson milked the FA for months after his dismisal, Keegan felt out of his depth and fell on his sword. Ask old Numpteen who he'd rather have as manager and he will go for Ericsson, which would show his complete and utter obsessive dislike of anything pre Lowe and his complete and utter lack of knowledge of football...

So his recent track record is patchy, if it was a player we'd quote "Class is permanent etc" so why has Keegan suddenly become useless? The man has every experience needed. It is extremly blinkered to assume that Keegan is over the hill now. Give him a real challenge, give him a good chairman and I have every reason to believe that this club has a chance. But hell, no... Let's concentrate on dragging McMenemy into the conversation shall we numpteen?

Would I accept Keegan as manager, even if just for a few years? Hell yes! I'd take Keegan any day of the week. Ideally I'd have Keegan as manager and Shearer as assistant with Keegan moving upstairs and Shearer eventually taking the reigns, hell I can dream can't I?

Just get over it and **** off will you?

Don't forget promoting Newcastle, Man City and Fulham.

How many managers have achieved as many promotions/lower league championships, as him?

Anyone know? (not you Numpteen, this is a football question)

As oppose a myopic and gratuitous ar5e licker? My guess is MLT will welcome different opinions and won't believe he has all the answers and unlike my posts all he will get from yours is the ability to save a few quid on Andrex.

Nope, he'll think, like most of us, that you're an unpleasant, post Euro 96, football hanger on who thrives on attention.

He'll think that, in life, you're rather unremarkable and thrive on being a cyberwarrior/internet personality.

He'll think that you probably avoided sport at school and spent most of your gym classes in your underwear and now follow "footy" to ingratiate yourself on the sort of blokes who avoided you like the plague at school...
