Strange that Coventry were in the Northern section, yet Burton were in the Southern. Someone at the FL needs to study an atlas. Probably Lord Paddyhawhaw.

Knowing the idiots at the FL, they probably thought this was a team sponsored by Burtons Menswear in London

home to northampton

.....just like old Division 3 days (both teams in the same league in the 1950's.)

even though it is less than glamourous there are some other interesting games in the cup draw.

Cardiff (cup finalist 2008 / just missed play-off 2009) entertain Dagenham and Rebridge (only came up from Conference a couple of years back.

Former Prem.side Watford will have an interesting visit to Barnet.

newly promoted from Conference - Burton Albion (minus Nigel Clough) travel to Reading (who only just missed promotion / play-offs to Prem.)

and Exeter will entertain QPR ..maybe an upset there.

there could be some giant killing - even in this competition, but wait until the second round - if we get through.

Woo-hoo, Hampton Derby !

And apparently we've already played and won 3-1 according to the poster above - are they doing the Carling Cup on Football Manager 2010 or something this season ? Less hassle for everyone...

Cobblers were my home team in my youth and the first team I followed (before I saw the Saintly light).

I remember fondly the old County Ground that they shared with Northants Cricket Club. The cricket outfield actually overlapped part of the football pitch so there were quite a few problems until the cricket season finished. Temporary stand had to be built along one side of the pitch for each football game and demoloshed if the cricketers wanted their ground back!

I went to Northampton in the FA Cup 3rd Round 2005

There's a Sainsbury's about 5mins walk away, I went in to use the loo and a bloke in a Saints shirt was trying to use the urinal. He was so ****ed, he was missing the target & peeing on his shoes

Good day out, we won 3-1

it's North enough

But South of Watford Gap, where some think the North starts.

Btw, I was just south of the Scottish border the other day, heading north, and the signs still said I was on my way to "The North", so where does it begin?

Record low St Mary's attendance coming up.

Maybe not if, for example we appoint a radical coach playing youngsters in a total football approach and exciting the fans ;)

Take 70 teams. Sift off the top 35 as "seeds" and try to split them in 17 "northern" and 18 "southern" teams. Now take the remaining 35 teams and try to split them in "northern" and "southern" also. Now shuffle a few from north to south to get the correct split.

Don't know, but when you get there all the signs point South.

North enough...but (having lived there) i can assure you that people from Northampton don't consider themselves northerners...

I'd also like to say what a sh:thole it is...

Crowd might not be that low, as it could be first home game of season depending on what happens tomorrow!

p.s. The North starts at Ringwood.

Did you ever sample "Northampton's Best Kebab House" ?

Surely you mean "least worst"

No, it is actually called "Northampton's Best Kebab House". I do not believe it is, as the kebab I had from there after the league cup game (in 2004?) was rubbish.

Although I have managed to get extremely drunk on a number of occasions, I am proud to say I've never been drunk enough to eat a kebab.

Oh no, Pauls' Kebab House was best opposite the Post Office HQ. Free food if you timed it right there.
