badgerx16 Posted 16 June, 2009 Share Posted 16 June, 2009 Falco Subbuteo = the Hobby, a small falcon, and 'Hobby' was the original name the creator tried to trademark for his table top football game. He failed, so used his ornithological knowledge to change the name to a Latin substition. Also, made famous by the Undertones in 'My Perfect Cousin', and Half Man Half Biscuit in 'All I Want For Christmas is a Dukla Prague Away Kit'. stevegrant Posted 16 June, 2009 Share Posted 16 June, 2009 I think the entire contents of my collection (including stands, floodlights, ridiculous throw-in takers, etc) are currently located in my parents' loft. I somehow doubt I'll ever be playing it again, to be honest.
Hatch Posted 16 June, 2009 Share Posted 16 June, 2009 I might be able to scrape together a 5-a-side team. I have a lot of long term injuries.
L1Minus10 Posted 16 June, 2009 Share Posted 16 June, 2009 Still got loads. 11 a side, 5 a side, about 20 teams. I'm teaching my kids to play and so far it's going ok... it's an alternative to the Wii. Brilliant game. I played my dad a few weeks ago for the first time since 1987... he still ****ing cheats. My mum thought it was funny to see a 64 year old and a 40 year old arguing over 'scrape flicks'.

Ponty Posted 17 June, 2009 Share Posted 17 June, 2009 I always felt it was rubbish, a bit like Scalextric. Hyped to death, top of the Christmas wish list, gathering dust under the bed by January.
John Boy Saint Posted 18 June, 2009 Share Posted 18 June, 2009 At least one week of the school holidays was always put aside to a full tournament played at different venues around the street with the fixtures arranged around when you didn't have to go and do something with your Mum and Dad. My Mum and Dad would not buy me a team of my own so for a while I had to borrow a team, until I had fished enough maimed players out of the bin and given them the £6m dollar man treatment complete with a snazzy gold strip (thanks to Airfix). Amesbury Saint Posted 18 June, 2009 Share Posted 18 June, 2009 took my Saints team on an 18-30 holiday to Corfu. My mate took his Spurs team. He droped a vase in a shop an had to buy it with one bit broken off, which became our "FA CUP" The week consisted of getting up late with hangover playing subbuteo beer ****ging girlfriend bed
