NickG Posted 15 June, 2009 Author Posted 15 June, 2009 wouldn't go public this late saying how much he wants the job if already told he hasn't got it
trousers Posted 15 June, 2009 Posted 15 June, 2009 Why doesn't the OS make mention of him being linked to the Egyptian club? Selective journalism?
trousers Posted 15 June, 2009 Posted 15 June, 2009 tbf they don't normally do gossip Not as instigators, but they've been quick enough to squash rumours in the past. I seem to recall a pretty swift denial that SLH was buying an oil rig, for example....
saint_stevo Posted 15 June, 2009 Posted 15 June, 2009 any news on the egyptian job other than t'other days stuff?
Arizona Posted 15 June, 2009 Posted 15 June, 2009 Not as instigators, but they've been quick enough to squash rumours in the past. I seem to recall a pretty swift denial that SLH was buying an oil rig, for example.... That was almost as funny as the Milan Mandaric statue. The actual story was that we'd been given a £136m contract to build an offshore oil rig in the South China Sea. That was also officially announce on the LSE, as opposed to just tabloid rumour.
gordonToo Posted 15 June, 2009 Posted 15 June, 2009 Wotte is already on record as stating he's had other job offers and is now waiting a decision from Pinnacle.
NickG Posted 15 June, 2009 Author Posted 15 June, 2009 sounds like they have not told him he is out so thinks he will either be here or at least has a chance - and wants it
saintstr1 Posted 15 June, 2009 Posted 15 June, 2009 All very strange , The sooner pinnacle let everyone know what is happening the better because at the moment we are a rudderless ship drifting every which way. So many conflicting stories and speculation, we will be the worst prepared club in the league again if someone doesnt step up to the plate very soon. Staff , Players and supporters all need to be put in the picture as a matter of urgency.

A lot of decisions have been made behind the scenes, but until the takeover is finalised and has gone through (Friday) then nothing can be said in public. Expect a flurry of news on the OS once Pinnacle have sealed the deal. News on the new Board, Manager, players and kits etc will all be out in the open soon enough. We've waited long enough for a takeover, surely a few more days won't hurt?
Hopkins Posted 15 June, 2009 Posted 15 June, 2009 The players don't know whether Wotte is staying or not. Waiting untill the weekend to find out. I expect the same goes for Wotte personally as I'm pretty sure if Wotte knew he would have told the players by now but everyone is just waiting for the weekend.

Exactly, just think of sfc as having severe constipation for 21 days, there is no movement and there is a large backlog of stuff that needs to come out. They are just waiting for that laxative to kick in and the toilet (os) will be flooded with sh1te (news).:-)
Thedelldays Posted 16 June, 2009 Posted 16 June, 2009 it would be funny as fook if he was kept on....just to see the reaction on here by the idiots
trousers Posted 16 June, 2009 Posted 16 June, 2009 Why not take a hint Mr Wotte and get on your bike. Didn't realise they did c o ckney rhyming slang in Holland too... p.s. how come I can post 'penis' but not 'c ock' ? Scuppers any future chicken debates somewhat.
Window Cleaner Posted 16 June, 2009 Posted 16 June, 2009 Who is there to tell him he's out? No-one can tell anyone they're in or out until some moolah gets paid to the creditors and the transaction is completed. AS far as I can work out that hasn't happened yet so there's no-one to hire or fire.
Pilchards Posted 16 June, 2009 Posted 16 June, 2009 it would be funny as fook if he was kept on....just to see the reaction on here by the idiots To be honest I've had enough of the clubs silly games and I would view keeping Wotte on a waste of time unless he had a lesser role.
gordonToo Posted 16 June, 2009 Posted 16 June, 2009 To be honest I've had enough of the clubs silly games and I would view keeping Wotte on a waste of time unless he had a lesser role. Best not to be too blinkered IMO. Wotte would be as good a choice as any in the current circumstances especially as the main bogey men have left the building, pre-season is here and some continuity is to be valued.

saintjay77 Posted 16 June, 2009 Posted 16 June, 2009 LOL so Wotte was not in Egypt yesterday then? I thought it was signed seeled and delivered? I still think that Pinnicle dont see the long term future with Wotte at the helm but the longer this takes the more chance he will be there short term. I expect a few hissy fits and boycotts to come out of it but then thats about the intelegence level of some of the "Saints Fans" we have and Pinnicle will just have to get used to it
Give it to Ron Posted 16 June, 2009 Posted 16 June, 2009 it would be funny as fook if he was kept on....just to see the reaction on here by the idiots Yeah all those idiots that had to watch us get relegated by playing a stupid formation - no width, no pace, no passion. A bloke that sat here and watched us play the same joke system under JP and did nothing as part of the heralded set up. But then again you have a motive for championing him don't you...after all you posted all those great predictions about him keeping us up. Your right we do have some idiots as fans.

Just because some fans have the common sense to realise the difficult position the new owners may be in. If they feel that the best option is to give themselves a little more time by hanging onto Wotte in the interim, then so be it. The difficulty would then come for idiots like yourself, if the guy is successful. I really doubt Wotte will be manager once things get going but that does not detract from the blinding stupidity of fans such as yourself. It's not our decision and you should be grateful enough, just for Pinnacle to pull us out of this financial mess.
SaintRobbie Posted 16 June, 2009 Posted 16 June, 2009 Wotte will have been told by MLT that we would not block him if he was to get an offer from another club. That being the case we then hear that several clubs including some in Egypt may be interested. Wotte continues to run the team and do these interviews as he is in the shop window. For his own benefit he is being allowed to appear to be manager of Southampton. This will help him get another club with dignity - simple. If he stays we'll pay him peanuts to move the cones around. There is no way that the new owners will want someone who if firstly not good enough and doesnt know the league and secondly is close to the last Chairman. Wotte is either going or will be on a JP-esque tiny wage until he can be offloaded. He will not be Saints manager by the end of June. IMHO.

If my Aunty Mary had ******** she would be my Uncle Bob. We start with -10 points do we have time to suffer further mismanagement or do idiots like you not see that? I accept that people like you who supported Lowe to the n'th degree will not have any word said against a stupid decision like appointing this guy in the first place so have to constantly follow blindly - whereas some of us want more from the club. You want him to stay on.....but then take over whose job? Hockaday, Henderson all have done great with the academy and reserves yet you want them replaced by someone who gets relegated at most of his clubs and you think thats the best option? Its idiots like you that see this club in the mess its in with just accepting the mediocrite we always have to put up with.

david in sweden Posted 16 June, 2009 Posted 16 June, 2009 http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~1693245,00.html talking as if still thinks he has chance to be manager several people have complimented his "diplomacy" recently, despite the chaos he's done a good job of saying " business as usual " until new owners appear. MY guess is that he'll go - and that he knows it already - but he's carrying on as normally as possible - which helps contain the hysteria and uncertainty from all sides. well done Mark.
Frank's cousin Posted 16 June, 2009 Posted 16 June, 2009 Jeez... Pinnacl;e are NOT yet Wottes employers and there will be LEGAL restrictions on what they can and cant say to him officially at this time until they take over the club - there is also employment protection for employees of companies taken over and so due legal process in line with his contract will need to be observed - they can not make an announcement of any kind until its been finalized.... The decison by Pinnacle will also be influenced by other things... and thankfully MLT/Lynam are going to basing any decision or offer of alternative contracts/coaching role on their assessment of hi abilities NOT because he was employed by Lowe...and they certainly wont be listening to a load of bitter fans who seem to wallow in schardenfreude and simple meanness...
SaintRichmond Posted 16 June, 2009 Posted 16 June, 2009 Wotte will have been told by MLT that we would not block him if he was to get an offer from another club. Yet we still have some 'intelligent' fans who want him here next season as manager despite his great career record! yes I did and the translation was all over the place so I dont think we can be 100% on what is supposed to be said. It didnt look very good as it was though. I dont particularly want him here next season but will understand if he gets a chance depending on when we finally get taken over. The deal could still fold and mr Fry could still decide to shut us down completly so i find some of the hate thrown at Wotte laughable at times. He is never going to take us as a club upwards but I think he could do a job to help stablise us in the short term. Id be happy enough with that but I would be happy enough if he got replaced too.
NickG Posted 16 June, 2009 Author Posted 16 June, 2009 Jeez... That's not actually true. 1) if they are buying SFC there is nothing to stop MLT or anyone else saying that when they complete their preference is for a different manager. 2) Wotte's long-standing contract is for acedemy director, therefore his "protected position" is that, not as manager. 3) since when have football clubs worried about employment protection for managers!
saintjay77 Posted 16 June, 2009 Posted 16 June, 2009 Wotte will have been told by MLT that we would not block him if he was to get an offer from another club. MLT will not have the right to tell Wotte anything at the moment because he is not in charge. He might have spoken to Wotte but legally he cant inform anyone of any decissions. The take over may not even happen so if he tells Wotte to bugger off and the takeover collapses then we are even further in the shiite. That being the case we then hear that several clubs including some in Egypt may be interested. We heard he had other offeres ages ago before we heard MLT was speaking to possible managers. Its not unlike players/managers to be shown interest when therer contracts are coming to an end and there is bugger all anyone can do about it. Wotte continues to run the team and do these interviews as he is in the shop window. For his own benefit he is being allowed to appear to be manager of Southampton. This will help him get another club with dignity - simple. He is not being alloud to appear to be manager. He IS still the manager and will be untill his contract is up at the end of June. Most managers would have seen the righting on the wall and looked out for them and there family by securing a job ASAP and been off letting Fry deal with organising pre-season and planning for next year. it might not seem like much to you but I say fair play to the guy. He might not have saved us but I couldnt see Burly or Redcrap sticking around in the same situation. If he stays we'll pay him peanuts to move the cones around. If he stays it will be because the new lot think he can do something more than push cones around, or because Fry will need someone to manage the team while he finds another buyer should the pinnacle deal collapse There is no way that the new owners will want someone who if firstly not good enough and doesnt know the league and secondly is close to the last Chairman. The new owners should they get that far might want Gus Hiddink because he is deemed good enough but its about what is available and within budget that will deem who gets the job. And if they decide because of who is close to the last chairman then they are as stupid as the previous lot. Didnt the last chairman get rid of Pearson because he was got in by Crouch? Sound business skills they will have if they follow in Lowes footsteps dont you think? Wotte is either going or will be on a JP-esque tiny wage until he can be offloaded. He will not be Saints manager by the end of June. Your powers of observation are amazing With Wottes contract up at the end of June he will probably not be manager after but if he is he will be on a contract that he accepts. If its similar to the one he is on now then it will be JP-esque but if they are planning to offload him then they probably wont even offer him a contract and see him on his way. IMHO. All IMHO of course
Frank's cousin Posted 16 June, 2009 Posted 16 June, 2009 That's not actually true. In response though 1) NOthing to stop them maybe - except its pretty bad form and not teh actions of a decent and dignified employer to speculate publically when they dont even own teh club yet - I actually applaud MLT and LYNAM and Wotte for teh way they have conducted these discussions in private. 2) True, in which case it may be that he is still being considered for that role which is why as his NOT YET employers nothing can be publically stated by MLT/Pinnacle 3) Slightly different scenario - all clubs take employment proction laws very seriously as they are too much in teh public spotlight to do so, Thats why it costs them the full amount to pay out contracts etc. In this case, because new owners are arriving, other rules/regulations will apply as tehy relate to new owners - in addition, as in point 1, public speculation about omeones job before you even own the club is NOTthe kind of thing I would expect from decent honorable folk who I would like i charge of our club - to date Tony and MLT have lived up to those ideals Finally - teh only ones who seem obsessed with this are those who seem hell bent o seeing Wotte booted into touch in some sort of pathetic schardenfreude joy moment - which suggests they dont get out much - Wotte may not be wahat we want or need long term, but enjoying other folks sheitd doesn't show some of our fans in the best light.
NickG Posted 16 June, 2009 Author Posted 16 June, 2009 we are not talking about speculating publically, which would be unprofessional, but privately informing Wotte of their honest thoughts - both decent and professional its not just considered for that role - that is the default his contract goes back to
Frank's cousin Posted 16 June, 2009 Posted 16 June, 2009 Can also depend on the something else - It may be that Wotte HAS been told he may remain in his academy role - Subject top teh approval of the new manager - which has yet to be decided... hense Wotte rightly saying his role is still up for discussion AND it being corrrect that dignified and professional discussions have taken place...
NickG Posted 16 June, 2009 Author Posted 16 June, 2009 I think he has been diginfied, just think his pride would stop him saying, repeatedly and enthusiastically, in public how much he wants to stay as manager - if he had been told it was unlikely. I just put on the Keegan thread -think Wotte still has a fair chance of keeping the job.
Give it to Ron Posted 16 June, 2009 Posted 16 June, 2009 Finally - teh only ones who seem obsessed with this are those who seem hell bent o seeing Wotte booted into touch in some sort of pathetic schardenfreude joy moment - which suggests they dont get out much - Wotte may not be wahat we want or need long term, but enjoying other folks sheitd doesn't show some of our fans in the best light. You see there is your read what you want. You have totally chosen to ignore anything that was an explanation of why some of us want Wotte gone. If you read my post it gave full explanation why I want him gone - he has been a disaster at nearly every club he has been. His record is apalling and he sat back as part of the heralded management team and did bugger all while JP was fed to the dogs in the name of resignation! Some of us still supported the club due to sh1te decisions like appointing these 2 Dutch jokers, watched 7 pathetic loans come in, see us appoint 4 Dutch coaches yet still went every week and supported the team. So some of us now want a new manager due to not agreeing with Wotte being any good. If Wotte stays on then I will still go and support us....if he amazingly does be kept on and does well then great because it means we are doing well and thats what we all want. But this does not mean I think he is the best man for the job. I find it comical that someone posts on a thread about stability then mentions that we can replace Wotte in a few months!

But that is not the same as acknowledging taht he has remained pretty professional and dignified throughout all this - nor should it prevent me from finding it churlish that there are those who ENJOY other people going throgh this sort of crap..and no I did not aim this at you ... finally, not sure if that stability thing was aimed at me or not - as its not applicable - if you read what I say about long term, its not meant in the wya you have interpreted it...

Fair play Frank but take it from me I don't enjoy people losing their job but he shouldn't stay on and agree he has said the right things but so did JP at times. Not aimed at you.....tempers and nerves all on edge this week as just dont want this to go wrong at this late stage as that means we are stuffed.
Frank's cousin Posted 16 June, 2009 Posted 16 June, 2009 Fair play Frank but take it from me I don't enjoy people losing their job but he shouldn't stay on and agree he has said the right things but so did JP at times. Not aimed at you.....tempers and nerves all on edge this week as just dont want this to go wrong at this late stage as that means we are stuffed. NO worries.. I will say though that its rare these days that we do see dignity - we saw it with Pearson and he has rightly been much praised for that - and although Wotte is not right to lead us on he has also shown those qaulities - I still amintain that in the RIGHT role he could be a useful addition, but taht really all depends on who i brought in and who teh new man is and what set up he wants - If teh new man wants him involved we should support that, if not then thats fine by me to. Chill out on the nerves thing though - I feel it will be a good week. The nly ITK ho is actually worth listening to is my old Skate buddy NSS, I have know him for 6 years and there is NO bull comming from him - he knows Tony very well...so I am not worried, just intrigued as to who teh new owner is... as even NSS wont let on if he knew - way too professional - but he has said we should be pleasently surprised...bring it on I say. Sorry cant be bothred editing and correcting the grammar and typos...

But this does not mean I think he is the best man for the job. I find it comical that someone posts on a thread about stability then mentions that we can replace Wotte in a few months! I can understand most of that and agree to a portion of it. But some of it comes accross as though you want him gone because he was Lowes puppet. His record has been bad on paper but much of the clubs he has been at have been in similar positions to ours. Sinking anyway! That doesnt exactly do him any favours as he might have been brought into save the clubs and failed but taking over a mess doesnt gaurentee you will be able to tidy up. many said our seaason was doomed before JP and Wotte turned up just becuase Lowe was looking to come back in. you put allot of weight on the "management team" aspect yet his job was Acadamy Director. WTF was he supposed to do when the manager/1st team coach left/got the boot? Would it have made more sence to you if when Wotte got the job they had a seperate press conference just for him? The way I see it is they got the job at the same time and were announced as "part of a new seemless management team" together. All of the managers at the club were part of that same team. So by that reckoning Hockoday and the others should also be gone because that "Management team" failed. The loans and coaches are where it went pair shaped and I doubt there will be many that dissagree. I think the club went for quantaty in the hope that they unearth a gem. I would be interested in who was actually suggesting the players because allot seemed to come in when JP had only been at the club for 5 mins. Could it be that Lowe thought the best way to control the finances was to organise the loans and transfers himself as then he could bring in the ones we could afford rather than the ones that could help? I just dont see how allot of the decissions can be put at the feet of JP let allone Wotte which is where it looks like the fall out from some is more about who employed Wotte than what Wotte actually did. I also dont rate him as some kind of special manager but then I dont know what kind of budget we have for next seasons manager or when that decission will be able to be made. Wotte has prepared for the coming season and I think he will at least see us safe if he gets the nod. starting from -10 I think that is all we can realisticly ask with it being a bonus if we are up in the playoffs. If he gets the nod and things go horribly then replace him the same as anyone else would get replaced. but i dont see what would have been lost compared to a last min appointment just before the season starts. If Pinnacle take over Friday and put someone in charge by Monday then great. The new guy has the time to assess and make changes. But if it goes on another 4 weeks we will have lost players, lost the chance to sign new players, the new guy wont know much about whats left of the squad and our chances will IMO be allot worse than they would with sticking with Wotte in the same sittuation. Its all about timing and what can be done with the time available. KK in charge with a 10mill budget by next monday and we can all get smashed and look forward to some happy times. Can anyone actually believe that will happen though with so many false dawns in the past?
Give it to Ron Posted 16 June, 2009 Posted 16 June, 2009 Nothing to do with being Lowe's puppet....my problem with Wotte is based solely on his performance here as manager. As for the bit below then Hockaday was also put out of the dream team like JP wasn't he? quote) All of the managers at the club were part of that same team. So by that reckoning Hockoday and the others should also be gone because that "Management team" failed.

If Wotte is successful then great but show me where in his career he has been? Where have I stated I want Wotte to stay? That decision is Pinnacles and I will be happy with what they go along with. But if they are having problems nailing down a manager and they want to keep Wotte in the interim, I will have no problems with that. This is nothing to do with Lowe, just idiots like yourself.
