david in sweden Posted 15 June, 2009 Share Posted 15 June, 2009 (edited) he certainly doesn't tuck enough of the 1 on 1's away and his shooting from outside of the box was woeful, appauling even, I don't recall him hitting the target last season for distance. The question I keep on asking thouhg is if we let all these `failed' players go will we actually replace them with anything better? of course Chez, it's all down to playing formation and service. Our great goalscorers of the past; Reeves, George O'Brien, Martin Chivers, Ron Davies all had the service of two good wingers, and pinpoint centres. In the modern game, where one winger is a luxury, it's harder for strikers to score and more so from headers. Despite his " lazy" tag, Rasiak is one of only 3 players to net 20 goals / season in the last 20 years. The others being James Beattie and Matt Le Tissier THREE times. (Stern John tantilisingly finshed with 19 in his big season) so, lazy or not he found the back of the net with more consistancy than most strikers we've had since the 1990's. Bradley was always best as a change player, coming on after 60 mins. and scored most of his goals from the subs.bench whereas he was almost invisible when playing matches from the start. Perhaps, like Dyer, his fortune lays further afield. If I were an incoming manager, I'd want to create my own team and buy 2 experienced strikers ASAP, and introduce the likes of Paterson, Jamie White and Holmes to learn their craft from profs. (as did Lawrie Mac... with Moran, Wallace, and David Puckett in the early 80's.) Having said that, BWP would naturally do well in League 1, but I seriously doubt if he'll still be here in August. gammon cheeks Posted 15 June, 2009 Share Posted 15 June, 2009 not a loss imo, we've got patterson and white alone who could fill the position. if we play further up the field than we did last season we will easily have more than one player who will bag 20goals in L1. Patterson! Dont make me laugh! Im glad BWP is going , never produced the goods in my opinion.

Stu Man Do Posted 15 June, 2009 Share Posted 15 June, 2009 McGoldrick if he stays will and only if he plays upfront for the whole season(which he didn't for large parts of last season i.e. behind Saga and Euell or wide on the right) Perhaps not breaking news but I've heard BWP really wants to stay and would take a pay cut whilst Surman and DMG both actively want to leave before the end of the pre season. Also heard that alot of the players want to keep Wotte on as boss. Whilst im not BWP's biggest fan I do think he'd do a good job for us if he could get properly fit, always seems to run out of puff after 50-60 mins. Scudamore Posted 15 June, 2009 Share Posted 15 June, 2009 Don't like him but I bet he starts very well there. In his rare form patches he can look good. But overall his finishing one on one is appalling. Still would have done well in league 1. Patterson is a big risk, might prove himself and score freely, might well struggle to score at all. We just haven't seen enough of it. I'd like him to get games, but not as the main striker we're relying on please. I'm pretty sure MLT won't let us go into a season with our main striker being a 19 year old with 12 first team appearances
sidthesquid Posted 15 June, 2009 Share Posted 15 June, 2009 Hurrah!! Second only to Skacel in the failing to live up to the hype. 3 more years on a decent wage he hardly deserves. Possibly the most brainless footballer ever to wear the red and white (and there've been a few).
alpine_saint Posted 15 June, 2009 Share Posted 15 June, 2009 The 21 day exclusivity period ends on Friday. Last time I looked at a calendar, that was 19th June 2009. Also, last time I looked, that was 12 days before 1st July 2009. So maybe those sneering at me about him being out of contract should shut the f**k up. The new owners have a chance to offer him a new contract before he can do anything about Argyle. Hopefully, they already know which players they want to make an effort to keep. And have had some discussions to that end.
EastleighSoulBoy Posted 15 June, 2009 Share Posted 15 June, 2009 Ronaldo is in the public eye. There are many interviews/quotes from Ronaldo's mouth that suggest his attitude stinks. Show me one where BWP shows an attitude that stinks... http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-544993/Football-stars-arrested-caught-CCTV-rifling-barmaids-handbags.html http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/news/4182761.Saints_duo_arrested_over_assault_claims/ And that m'lud sums up the case for the prosecution. Well shot of in my opinion.

Matthew Le God Posted 15 June, 2009 Author Share Posted 15 June, 2009 (edited) He could have started talking to whomever the funk he wanted to on the first of January, doofus. Wrong! Only can talk to foreign clubs for bosmans from January. Movement contact/talk within domestic leagues is around 6 weeks before end of contract. Be careful before using the word "doofus" Edited 15 June, 2009 by Matthew Le God

Who? Wotton? Gillett? not their game to score goals. Other players probably will be off. Patterson has scored one goal if i'm right. White could not get a regular place in Shrewsbury's first team. These two have some potential but we can't have a team of potentially good youngsters like last season.

red&white56 Posted 15 June, 2009 Share Posted 15 June, 2009 Maybe he wasn't as consistent as we all would have liked but he was one of the few current players who I felt could do something special when we needed it. He had the skill to go past all those 6 footers in every backline who snuff out any cross but can't cope with someone running at speed at them. If it was my decision I would keep (on lower wages). Bailey Posted 15 June, 2009 Share Posted 15 June, 2009 BWP would have done well in League One but it was always unlikely that he'd stay due to his wages. I know he's not got many fans on here but I wish him all the best if he does move on. He's shown glimpses of potential, but not proved himself on a regular basis. BWP will be missed, but at the same time he's not irreplaceable. He leaves, I wish him all the best, and we move on.
haddock22 Posted 15 June, 2009 Share Posted 15 June, 2009 BWP i imagine will not be missed by the vast majority of saints fans.He summed up all that was wrong in the saints team brainless and spineless with little if no talenr and vastly overated..I was always amazed that managers gave him a space in a team. With him gone I may decide to renew my season ticket.Bet he scores a hat trick in his first match for them though
