Just forced myself to watch the extended highlights back after not wanting to think about the game since leaving the stadium at the full time whistle on Saturday. The referee is clearly a cunt, as is the VAR official. The inconsistency there is absolutely galling (for the shirt pulls on Vardy / Tall Paul). Fuck off. Walking away from the ground I felt that Leicester edged it overall and a win was fair enough - I was wrong. We bossed it for the first hour and could have scored a couple more. First goal goes against us and we wilt. Mentally weak. I don't wish ill on many people but if Vardy is caught in a car crash next week or falls off a balcony, I'll be opening the champagne.

This is complete nonsense. Just picked out a random game from one of the seasons Ralph guided us to consecutive 15th place finishes and the following players WALK into our current side; Adams, Ings, Walcott, Romeu, Ward-Prowse, Stu Armstrong, Bertrand We're still playing Janny B and KWP - along with Jack Stephens - so three out of the four defenders that have been shite and or got us relegated last time around. Ralph had a much more experienced, stronger group of players to work with. The idea that Martin is not getting enough from this group of players is fucking fantasy land.

He must have meant hotter by temperature. Maybe he likes nobbing his kettle or something.

I only voted keep him as I can't see past the quality of our squad as not being good enough regardless of who we get in. I have always seen this season as a stepping stone to where we will be in a couple of seasons time; relegated this season, build back stronger next season and have a proper crack at the Premier League then after Martin has had a few more seasons under his belt to learn some humility and flexibility. Sacking him now gets us what? A complete change of style with a group of players not suited to that either. At least if we stick this out we'll be ready to go again in the Championship with a style that has (mostly) worked for us before in that league. I don't see any of this happening of course, ultimately managers don't survive losing every week and we will end up with another manager and our impatient fanbase will just jump on the next poor soul who dares to take up the challenge as soon as lose a couple of games with the exact same squad Martin had to use. I can't believe this is the cylce people want to see repeating itself.

I dunno what's worse the performance or the fact that this site now displays an add every three posts.

Enjoyed everything about today until the screamer at the end. Thought we were well worth the win given how controlled we were in the second half. Absolute gut punch to concede to that rat cunt Morsey at the death. Northam was decent today. Promise. Reckon we can beat ballmouth next week.

Nail on head. It's been two games, neither of which have exactly been successful on the pitch - people writing it off as a failed experiment need to give it a bit more of a chance me thinks. I heard pockets of people trying to get new songs going over in the old-Northam but from where I am (Block 46) it just seems to be sad old gits who only want to complain that they have been moved from their beloved Blocks 1 and 2.

Agreed with this. Yeah the games have been frustrating so far with the mistakes, but with the points total we'll need to stay up a slow start is not the end of the world. Martin should have enough credit in the bank for what he delivered last season to be given the benefit of the doubt here, I trust him to make the adjustments needed to give us a better chance in games. The gap between championship and premier league is widening. If we look better but ultimately don't quite do enough I won't be surprised, in fact it's what I expect to happen despite all the signings in the summer. This won't be enough for the fans obviously as most people lose all perspective and patience when it comes to football.

Took about 5 minutes for the people round me to start moaning about the Northam being a "shit hole" and singing that they want their Itchen back. Great job giving it a chance guys, really, amazing job.
-
I hope we beat them next time. Their fans have gone up 10 notches on the odious, insufferable mong scale since their sports washing takeover - they were always an entitled "we are massive" bunch of self important twats, but at least they had some humility for the most part.
-
So frustrating because we have been excellent until that McCarthy cock up, and even more frustrating as it wasn't a surprise to any Saints fan. We can get something from this game. Come on lads.

Real statement of intent signing both of the forwards who played in one of the worst premier league teams of all time last season

Feels like this one came out of nowhere and got done quick!

The logic of people complaining about people coming to our country and making it worse by literally going onto the streets to break, damage and burn peoples property is fucking unbelievable, although not at all surprising when you look at the section of society that is out there falling for this bullshit. Every country will always have it's thickos that love a bit of a punch up. Problem is ours have been fed this lie by the political class and the rich that all of their problems are because of foreign people, and they get told this to distract from the true issue: widening wealth inequality. If the rich can protect their interests and the interests of their political donors by blaming brown people to distract the poor from the fact that they are making it harder for the poor and middle class to lead good lives, they will peddle that bullshit forever.

If he does the business when he gets on the pitch, great. Good luck to him. Life is too short for grudges, especially the kind where football fans act all butt hurt about a player for their team going off to win...well, everything, for all the money in the world. Get over it for fuck sake.

I can't wait for Lallana to turn up here, do a line of cocaine off of Russel Martin's cock and then call out all of the non-believer's mothers for the absolute whores that they are before he dons a Pompey shirt and shits on a Saints club crest.

Spot on. Watching Saints was by in large completely shit for much of the last 4 or 5 years we were in the Premier League. We just trod water, eeking out enough points to survive year after year until it eventually caught up with us. There were very few players during that time that I remember fondly, and the ones that were consistently good for us are well past it now. Hopefully the scouting department have more of imagination and data to go on than our fans do.

Southampton 1-0 Leeds - Saints are Promoted!!

Trying to use my usual stream (saints player) from Kyoto and it's not playing fair. Just about saw a replay of the goal and not a lot else, otherwise I'm stuck with text updates and it's agony! Come on lads. 45 minutes from glory. -
I didn't go in the pitch but like others can see why people do it, run around and celebrate, fine. It's the overweight chav scum sliding on their knees and waving their triple XL t-shirts above their heads that got me. Put your tits away lads, no one wants to see it.

Yea it was a bit surprising to here the love-in for the baggies manager given his record against Saints/Martin - the analysis was interesting however and did highlight how close our games against them have been this season. I watched the extended highlights of both games over my lunchbreak today and West Brom carry a big threat on the counter and at set pieces, we were somewhat lucky to get away with it in the home game, less so at The Hawthorns were I thought we were good value for the win.
-
Interesting look at the Championship play offs on the "Not the top 20" podcast. Came away from it feeling a fare bit less confident! Keen to rewatch some of the previous two ties against the baggies. From what I remember they were both tight games that could have gone the other way.

I thought I had to wait until Wednesday to grab some extras with my season ticket but just grabbed the extra one I needed no problem. Fill yer' boots!

I believe we have the fourth best as the table suggests. Many of the players in our squad are the same players that looked totally out of their depth last season in the Premier League - and yet people come on here pedalling this "best squad in the league" bullshit. By what measure? Salary? Transfer fee? MEANINGLESS. What about TALENT and TRACK RECORD - the majority of our lot are down on both!
