Benteke to Crystal Palace, this is becoming very frustrating....

Pessimistic or Realistic the season will be he judge of that. When I'm at the ground I'm 100% behind Saints come what may but when I post here I like to be realistic. I can see the club I love getting into trouble, allow me my concerns. Goals and Assists you certainly wouldn't put many Saints players in your fantasy team. -

The point is Austin may have been a good buy at 4 million but if he's going to sit on the bench for most of the season or pick up injuries when he is not,I'd have rather bought Benteke. Benteke at Villa was fantastic he scored almost a goal every other game (42 in 89).At Liverpool under Rodgers things didn't go as well and didn't figure in Klopp's plan but he's still an excellent player at 25 and a big lad to at 6ft 3in would have been excellent alongside Long. -

Who do you think will score more goals this season or play more games? -
If you think we need a new striker - which striker do you drop from squad?

I would like to see Austin play alongside Long and Redmond out wide. -

Considering Jay Rod and Austin usually sit on the bench that's a strange question. Redmond and Long are ok but they need support in the pitch and a creative midfielder would help. -

Why have we not bought a another forward? Where are the goals going to come from? Jay Rod is he ever going to be the player he was? Austin will he always be a bit player? Long is great but I feel he needs support. Having sold Mane,Pelle etc. With TV rights etc, where's the money going? I am trying not to be so negative on here but I have grave fears, even so early in the season, we need to wake up. It no good running around passing sideways you don't get points for that. -
This is getting ridiculous now...

I'd rather invest for the future than prepare for the inevitable. We have just been given a huge amount of money from tv rights and transfers(again)and while other clubs have been using this to strengthen their squads we have done what? I have said it before and I will say it again, we are going to struggle with the squad as it is.
-
Survival, we have no strength in depth and will struggle to score goals.

'HIS NAME ON FB, BEOWULF, (maybe a coincidence but not too many fans of Nazi tank commanders around' Is this a joke? Since when has there been a Nazi tank commander called Beowulf? As for being a Skate, well words fail me. I stood on the Terraces with Dougal and co and was at old Wembley in 1976 twice and 1979,as I said I have been a fan for over 50 years, even have a brick in the wall at St. Marys, lol. Is this what its come to?If someone has serious concerns about the club and posts on message board with them, he must be a skate? I wouldn't call people I don't know names on here because I have no idea who I'm talking to, I suggest those that do have a serious look at themselves, its not clever and certainly not brave.

I've only just come on here. I have supported Saints for over 50 years sunshine and if I want to express my concerns I will do. Of course its early days but when you have supported Saints as long as I have just know when something is wrong. I'm not sure about this manager, maybe he's been told he has to make do with the squad as it is, I don't know. I just feel this season will be a struggle and a frantic transfer window wont help this time.
-
Not impressed by our managers team selection. Why on earth didn't Hojbjerg start? Cant see many goals this season, why haven't we strengthened the squad more? We will pay for this big time.
-
Excellent, Dave.Ron was one of the most powerful headers of a ball I have ever seen. I remember seeing Ron,Channon and Chivers lining up to receive a corner from Terry Paine at the Dell, I think it was Chivers last game for us before he went to Spurs. Those were the days as they say.All British too, cant say that too often these days.
-
I don't understand this 'moaner' bed wetter stuff if you dare to be disappointed at our transfer activities. As has been said this is a message board, it would be very boring if we all agreed.
-
I think you're forgetting that we have now lost two very good managers and their off the field teams. The ambitions of ' aiming at champions league' are ludicrous our signings so far and a new management team that has yet to be tested doesn't tell me we are aiming at champions league. I think we will be lucky to stay in the premiership, champions league! your having a laugh...
-
I did go on to say ' is that going to be our only incoming?' I am totally underwhelmed by our incomings SO FAR,I can only hope, as I'm sure you do, that we have something 'up our sleeve 'so to speak because its not good enough so far. Anyway 'Peace Brother' we both support the same team its only banter, come match day we will both be there for the team we love.
-
'If we keep the team as it is I can see us struggling' What part of that sentence don't you understand?
-
Lets see how we do next season then? You just cant carry on selling your best players and losing successful management teams season after season, it will catch up with you eventually. If we keep the team as it is I can see us struggling,we have a good defence but the squad for covering injuries etc is not strong enough. Midfield, looks average at best and I cant see many goals coming from them,Forwards look distinctly injury prone with no cover. Now there's bedwetting at its worst lol....

Who's talking about 30 million players? There are quality players out there for much less. As for the owner we will always be grateful to Markus for his investment and subsequence running of the club. I think it was a very shrewd investment by the Liebherr's. A new stadium, infrastructure, youth set up and large fan base was there, so after debts were paid and with clever management by themselves we have moved from div one to the premiership. But what concerns me now is the lack of investment in the team, I know the season hasn't started yet but if we don't strengthen the squad we could find ourselves back in the championship then you may ask what will our owner do then?
-
Sorry, doesn't thrill me much. Having just signed a Bayern Munich player that couldn't get into the side and was subsequently sent on loan to clubs, and Redmond who has showed some promise it has to be said. That's just not good enough considering the money we have from TV rights and transfers. Its commendable to tie our best players to contracts(if that means much these days)but we need to strengthen the squad asap.I know we have some time yet but when you look who the other clubs are bringing in we look to have a real battle on our hands this season.
-
How do you know I didn't apply for the managers job?
-
I've got Grendel under control but I will release him if we don't strengthen the team, as for his mum, don't dare mess with her......
-
Not enough quality depth in the squad for my liking. Of our 3 first choice strikers,2 have serious injury histories. Redmond looks good and the Danish lad might be, but is that going to be our only incoming? With the money that must be available are we going to have to wait for a 'panic transfer window' come January? Very sad to see Sammy Lee go. We seem to want to continue our good fortune on a shoestring, we will be lucky if we do.

So you're comparing the French League to the Premiership? Paris Saint-Germain who won last season were 31 points ahead of Lyon in 2nd place and 33 ahead of Nice. I'm not looking for a argument, I hope he does well and proves me wrong.
