I posted the following a few weeks ago (& its open to further correction) 25 man squad rules (edited*).... Each 25-man squad must include at least eight 'home-grown' players - "A home grown player is defined as one who, irrespective of his nationality or age, has been registered with any club affiliated to the Football Association or the Welsh Football Association for a period, continuous or not, of three entire seasons or 36 months prior to his 21st birthday (or the end of the season during which he turns 21)." In addition to the 25-man named squad, clubs can use an unlimited number of players aged 21 or under. - "An Under 21 player is defined as one who is under the age of 21 on 1st January in the year in which the season commences. For the 2012/13 campaign Under 21 players will have been born on or after 1st January 1991*." Only in exceptional circumstances, such as a goalkeeper crisis, can changes be made outside the window, and then only if the Premier League board approves the changes. Who do we sell & who do we send out on loan? & what contracts should we look to extend?

As a Paddy, I would rather we keep the £4.5m & DC on much lower wages (does DC have, or is he getting his coaching badges?).

it maximises revenue, I would be very supprised if we dont put them in. as a sky/tv viewer i find them annoying.

now that we are back to having a 7 man bench, we have a little more room to offer the youth a chance to come through.

Why ignore loans? We've done very well in the loan market over the last couple of seasons. I will be very supprised if we do not bring a player or 2 in on loan during the next transfer window. Loans give the club the option to try before we buy/fill gaps in the squad. Jos was first here on loan.

what they said... I think we all do. no we are not. If results go badly against us at the weekend (as they did the other week) it could mean that there is alot to play for on the final day for us, wham & coventry. we are in a good position, almost there but not quite. We should go up, but were not there already.

I thought he had a good game, got the ball into the box, both with crosses and clever runs. tracked back at with amazing determination/pace to deny Roberts a 1 on 1 with Davis.

fair enough, maybe not the "definition", but even most their own fans seem to think their season is over/play off place is highly unlikely & they have started their summer transfer thread without suggesting what league they might in. FWIW Leicester are only 1 point ahead, along with a +12 GD. It's not much I know, but it is the reason I think they had a better chance of getting into the play offs than Hull. it's all about opinion & we all know that anything can happen - I hope I am wrong and both Leicester & Hull play W.Ham looking for a win to secure the play offs. I can't see that happening though. If Hull do manage to finish 6th, would they have 3 games in a row against W.Ham (provided they finish 3rd)? Joe, of course you are right

SAINTS - Position: 1 - form table: 2 - with 4 games left we couldn't have expected any better :) Reading (H) - Position 2 - form table - 1 - a real 6 pointer. P.borough (A) - Position 17 - form table - 18 - only 9 pts off the drop zone but little to play for except pride. M.borough (A) - Position 8 - form table - 19 - falling away from the play off spots, lets hope their form continues. Coventry (H) - Position 22 - form table - 11 - I'm hoping that the result doesn't matter to either team We need is 6 points from these 4 games (if W.Ham go on win their remaining 4 games). iirc, we were in admin at the time & Kelvin turned down a move to Prem W.Ham. He stuck with us through the sh!t & his loyalty alone earns him "legendary" status along with a place in next seasons starting 11.

even if we do drop out of the top 2 in the mean time, I think we will be within 3 points of promotion on the final day of the season. the goals against column is still a little concerning though.

don't be silly, if we loose on Saturday (and presuming Brum win their game in hand) we are still only 3 points away from a top 2 spot, that's 2 points + accounting for whatever the goal difference might be. this is a tight league - 12 points separate the top half with 18 games remaining, anyone can beat anyone as ipswich proved tonight, and we remain in a good position. back on topic, I listened to the Cardiff commentary of the second half tonight & they were happy with the draw.

This, even if we do drop out of the top two; there is nothing to say that when we get our new improved first 11 playing together we won't get back in an auto spot. In fact not having the "league leaders" tag may help us - teams may open up more & allow us play football. I think if we sign a decent defender tomorrow, were looking good for promotion this season, regardless of results this week.

hope he had a nice relaxing couple of weeks & is back fit & ready to go. Great to hear Chappers is almost back. any ideas on when Fonte, Lallana & Jos are expected back. it would be great to have a fully fit squad available again.

I still think Saints did some good business in the last window. The team that started this season was better than the one that finished last season & currently sit in 2nd - a position we would all have excepted in august. However, it is a little concerning that we are still looking for players to cover the same positions that we were in the summer. And, how many more players do we bring in before the squad becomes bloated? all that said this year I think we're trying to "settle for the playoffs"

I hadn't seen that before...link... lol @ Chamberlains "internet forum's" remark. But, he's really not doing himself any favours. Has he handed in a transfer request, or will he get a cut of any fee? It might not be a bad thing to make him train on his own/with the kids, it could be a good example to them... "see kiddies, if you develop the wrong attitude you could be that saddo doing laps around the pitch"
