I could never understand why ITV did not schedule the championship for Saturday evening (after MOTD)

exactly what I thought. Niemi was great with us, but that performance was sh*te. I'm not bothered if Niemi signs for Pompey, he is a professional footballer being offered a chance (by his old coach) to come out of retirement and has an opportunity to play prem football again I would be surprised if he turned it down.

Exactly, and part of me hopes that ML does not pump megabucks into Saints, that we can grow as a more stable team. ML has said that we will invest at the required level (not buying Kaka) and looking at the squad & other teams in L1 (albeit with limited knowledge) I think we are doing just that. Can someone tell me how much the stadium debt cost per year? Obviously we need additions hopefully they will come soon, but is there any team in this league that doesn't need strengthening? If we believe what we read, Saints no longer have to be a selling club, and our facilities & high(ish) profile manager must make us an attractive option for L1 standard players. For the first time in years I am genuinely confidant of a good season and expect us to be pushing for a playoff spot, but the first goal has to be get out of the relegation zone. the future is bright............

true - I forgot about that

Has Crouch ever moved club without Arry being involved?

Irish lad here (lets sit back & slag the english) & I know what you mean. If it came down to a one off major trophy I would have to say Ireland because the country would go mental for at least 6 months & its more fun if you have someone to celebrate with....(dreams of being there to see Saints win a Champions League Final)... if it was sustained success it would have to be Saints. ...that said it would be great craic to lord it over Liverpool/Man utd fans, even if it was just for 1 season... I'm torn.

Good point, well maid, its good to have a proper manager, who is saying the right things, like expecting a good home record. I think the goal is to be in the chasing pack (of the top 6) by Christmas & hopefully join them after improving the squad in January. I was happy with Pardew when he was announced and I'm happier after seeing his comments.

I have had mixed feelings about stoke, a club I would imagine that is of similar size (or even smaller than) Saints, made up of players who were not good enough/too expensive for Saints keeping their place in the prem - Largely helped by Delap's long throw, which many of us laughed at. It just goes to show how badly managed Saints have been if you ask me. what does everyone else think?

He's not sure either... http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11662_5431898,00.html

Regardless of who is in charge on Saturday I fully expect us to get spanked by Ajax, If a new manager is appointed after the game on Saturday he can start with a win against Hearts the following week & it's always nice to start the way you mean to go on.
-
lol it looks like some of us are starting to come back down to earth here today, I am still going to believe we will be in the Prem in 2012 for a little while longer.
-
lol, that always makes me chuckle, along with "its just like watching Brazil"

well said, & I've paid up now so I am allowed to give out. & may I point out that 19's condition, whatever it may be, is not Saints related - unless it was caused by Saints - in which case i think it is deserving of a separate thread.

Well Said, no harm in us fans enjoying our moment, god knows we have had not had many moments to enjoy lately. However, even if ML does not invest on a man city scale, I think mos fans realise Saints is now Debt free and can move forward without massive investment, and it is nice to know that there is money there to get the right people in for the job. If ML lives up to the following, I will be more than happy.

Of the list above - WGS I think a better poll would be - New Manager Poll (if not WGS). then I think NP

Poll: Would you be happy for Pearson to be our manager?
westofshannonsaint replied to St Marco's topic in The Saints
I dont think the majority would vote for NP over WGS or KK but would still be happy with his appointment. If really needed a poll could have been added to that thread, but reading both threads yes I think most would be happy if NP was appointed appointment. and other than the poll this would still be a speculation thread. -
not quite what I meant, but did make me LOL. Perhaps a chant of "Woggy's Red & White Army" then

Poll: Would you be happy for Pearson to be our manager?
westofshannonsaint replied to St Marco's topic in The Saints
to be fair I don't think he has messiah status, lets leave that to WGS for the time being. I do think he is one of the preferred realistic options (e.g. Tony Adams/Dennis Wise/Coleman) I am not a fan of the DOF position (because I don't really understand the role) but I think NP as manager & WGS/KK as DOF would be excellent. -

why the need for another thread? Yes I would love to see NP back. Knows our Squad and more importantly knows what is needed to win League one. a question to those who think keeping us up when he was here was not an achievement - Would you have preferred to keep Dodd and Gormless, or do you recognise that the team was pretty much f*cked when he arrived? alot of people are comparing NP's record to Wotte's, do you think Wotte would have done as well if he came into the club cold instead of pearson? -
TDD, that really made me laugh, of course you are right, but will you follow the same advice? (of course if everyone did this forum could get quite dull)
-
I may be wide off the mark, but I always pictured Woggy as a grandfather/uncle type figure at the club. Someone who knows the history of the club, who has seen the good times and the bad and can offer friendly advice to young players. In my old job, there was a security guard who to be fair did not do much other than chat to everyone and offer a friendly ear. Shortly after he fell ill and was replaced the company realised that the company did not actually need a Security Guard, but as a mark of how important this gentleman was to the company the building was renamed in his honour.

Very good point... I would also be delighted to see NP back here, & I am stunned that some people still think otherwise, he is a promising English manager, with experience and success in the league we are about to go into, he knows our team (or most of it anyway) so would not need to spend assessing the squad to find out what is required, and has shown he is able to bring in the players required. Also he seemed not to want to leave last year even when Lowe came back, so must have seen some promise even with zero funds. I have to admit that when he was appointed I was not impressed (because I didn't recognise his name) but I am man enough to admit I was wrong. I would still prefer WGS, but NP would make me very happy & feeling positive for the upcoming season. As others have said, even if Leicester did start last season on -10 they would have finished only 1 point off automatic promotion. I think some on here would complain if Ferguson was brought here and say, he is past it & cant do anything without megabucks.

Qwerty, thanks for going to that effort, it is a joy to read. I particularly like this...
-
Hi qwerty, not everyone can speak French, could you please correct Google's effort for us who are not bilingual?
-
aside from the fact that I don't think he likes us very much (wanting us to go down) I would like Keane to commit to one club (and through a difficult time) for a while and become a good manager, I would not be happy for him to come here so soon after joining Ipswich and walking out of Sunderland.
