  1. Not much, if you look at Newcastle forums then a lot of them joke they should leave him at home when they play away. But i've never been a fan of him, simply not the type of player i want as a attacking midfielder. He would be useful no doubt but imo, not the kind of player you spend a lot of money on.
  2. He never played for one of the big clubs in Holland and then in the eyes of the general audience, journalists and everyone else that expresses their opinion about football on TV, you suck cause they never see or seen you play. Its a joke but Dutch people are a joke really when it comes to football nowadays sadly. I cant make anything else of it. And all because we listen too much to nonsense thats coming from old football players who totally missed that the game of football has evolved.
  3. Total different times. You cant compare figures, **** even the players itself from now and the 70's/80's. The Messi's and Ronaldo's from this world have a long way to go before they reach the legacy a Cruijff leaves behind. Messi for example already said it himself, without Cruijff, Barcelona wouldnt be the club it nowadays is without him. Not to mention all the things he has done outside of football with his foundation and institutes. You have too look further then just career figures.
  4. This was just bloody brilliant, pretty bad first half but second half was immense with a great Virgil and Wanyama and good goals. Clasie and Davis had a absolute terrible match btw, pretty shocking to see from normally solid players.
  5. Well seeing how the club does their business, it's probably going to be a Dutch coach and I would be fine with Frank de Boer or Cocu. Both have great experience as players and are doing well at the biggest clubs in Holland atm.
  6. And his total transfer fee would be in the range of 50 million when you include all future bonuses. Thats not something Southampton will pay anyway. He's probably only going to leave Ajax for clubs like Barcelona, City, Bayern etc In my opinion there are a few players the Eredivisie that are interesting. I've seen a few posts here now that include central defenders but no one has mentioned Bruma yet from PSV, thats the central defender i would buy if you shop in the Eredivisie. Has a great season and was absolute fantastic yesterday against Atlético Madrid. And he, well i think, might count as a homegrown player because his 3/4 years at Chelsea? I think you have to be careful that you dont bring in too many Dutch players tho but for sure i would try to get Ziyech and Tete this summer, wont be easy tho.
  7. Virgil by a mile
  8. Well i just read that Sneijder is gonna be up for grabs in the summer for 5 million pounds cause of Galatasaray's financial problems. He should have another 2 good years in him, doubt he wants to come to Southampton tho.
  9. **** happens, he hesitated. Makes one little step backwards and gets beat. Good ball in tho from William, ill give them that. Shame for Virgil tho, had a pretty damn good game again with good passes forward and interceptions but its kinda the same what happened with Forster, had great games, breaks a record and then such a stupid ball goes in.
  10. The team own dumb fault. Probably good that we lost cause they were getting way too cocky thinking nobody will score anyway. Just a matter of time before balls fly in when you sit that far back and you let Chelsea pass around without even pressing a little bit. I dont get why you would do that, first half showed how many mistakes Chelsea makes when you put some pressure on them. And why Pelle was brought on the pitch is even a bigger mystery to me. Shame, really unnecessary loss.
  11. Newcastle is getting a proper spanking
  12. It wasnt pretty today but 3 points is all that counts, another clean sheet and the team didnt give anything away. How many shots they had on target? 1? All around a good performance from the team with VVD as my MotM.
  13. Well i was responding to angelman who asked what those guys make but my guess, branding/marketing? Im no expert on it, i just watched a podcast and a short documentary from VICE about this whole competitive gaming world but i can see why it could be interesting. That gaming market is huge where gamers have thousands of fans and millions of people tune in. Put a gamer in your jersey and the chances are that his fans will buy that jersey as well and offering your shirt sponsor a whole new market might be interesting as well, im sure VEHO wouldnt mind for example. So lots of possibility's really, maybe you can even persuade a few of those gaming fans turning into fans of the actual football team? But i dont know enough about it all but from what i understand, its huge and a market that big is always interesting.
  14. If your any good in games you can make very, very good money. Not that long ago i saw a podcast about it and i was blown away with the money they make from sponsors, streaming and winning tournaments. You need to flip hamburgers for years to earn what these gaming kids make in a month. Its a legit option these days to make some serious money.
  15. Good performance overall, the front guys didnt had their day tho against a pretty good Arsenal if you ask me, Ozil and Alexis are really class. Forster man of the match by a mile
  16. My thoughts: Sell: Wanyama, Mané, Juanmi, Pelle. Buy: Pasalic, Van Ginkel, Kostic, Malli or Ziyech and get Carrillo as a free agent. Sign Stekelenburg as second keeper, put Gazzaniga out on loan and a talented CB so we can either get rid of Martina or Yoshida. This would give us a proper team if you ask me.
  17. The media links every Dutch player, or players who played in the Eredivisie in the past, with Southampton but its a lot of nonsense.
  18. You might be surprised then. If VVD keeps putting in performances like he has so far i dont doubt it for a second that Arsenal comes in sooner then people might think. VVD has been linked with Arsenal already a few times when he played at Celtic and according to rumors they even put in a last minute bid on him in the summer of 2014 after they sold Vermaelen to Barca and Celtic removed Virgil from the squad for a week because he wanted to go. Virgil is still only 24 and there arent a lot of defenders that put in better performances as he does. And i dont know about you but i take him over Mertesacker any day. I hope he stays and i think players should always stay at least 2 years at a club but i expect its going to be just a matter of time.
  19. Well he's 33, i dont see any club signing him as a number one anymore after the last 5/6 years he had. Well maybe a Dutch club would but he would have to take a giant wage cut and why clown around in Holland at that age when you can sit comfortable on the bench at Southampton? Easy decision if you ask me.
  20. I would keep Stekelenburg. In my opinion a backup goalie should be a guy with experience and who doesnt do crazy things or who makes big errors and he fits that bill perfectly, plus he's probably fine with being a backup.
  21. Vilhena aint a 10 tho. I rather have Malli or Ziyech in the summer, both according to reports have a price tag around 7.5 million pounds.
  22. You really want to hold on to Long when that kind of money comes along? Long is working hard, making it difficult for defenders but let's be real here, that's almost the jackpot for a player like Long, who's not that hard to replace.
  23. How two victories can change someones opinion... Another good performance, not as good as last Wednesday tho. Going too be interesting how this develops.
  24. Almost sounds too good to be true
  25. You should be happy with that if you ask me, mediocre striker
