Well depends what lines you are talking about, some he said and some he didnt. And better? You dont hear me talk about better. All im saying is that apparently some people make a big thing out of what he did or didnt say while he really didnt say much at all.

Nope, the quotes that were picked up actually came from multiple interviews he did for dutch tv stations when he arrived at the hotel for the national team. And the "media" throws the little parts he said to different tv stations about his summer into one article and made it look like he rambled on about it the whole interview and make it look more juicy. He actually said very little about it and wasnt asked much about it cause in Dutch football we have a bigger problem atm then van Dijk and his summer issues at the club.

This performance doesnt mean anything, the guy played his first matched since like 8 months. He needs to make minutes on the pitch thats the only thing that matters from yesterday. VVD is a player who needs rhythm, there's nothing to worry about for now.

I've watched Tadic play for years and years and if Tadic ain't happy he starts to whine and moan about everything on the pitch. To me there's only one spot where he should play and that's on the left wing and use him especially to link up with the left back, cause that's actually where he starts to shine. Tadic ain't no attacking midfielder, I've said this before but when Twente bought him they wanted to put him behind the striker. Even in the Eredivisie it showed that Tadic wasn't a 10 so they put him on the right wing, which doesn't really work either cause Tadic simply can't shoot. Left wing and left wing only, otherwise don't even bother using him really.

What's stupid about it? If VVD stays the club wins, if he goes you know someone is desperate enough to put down silly money. That's also a win. Plus you made your point to future players who might want to get out. It doesn't sound stupid to me at all.

I call complete bull**** on that. If you can get a better job (well the dream job that you have been dreaming about since a little kid) and like triple your wages etc you are gone tomorrow, just like anyone else on earth. No offense but anyone who says they wouldn't do this or that are full of ****. Unless you have been in that position you can only speculate what you would do but 99% of the people on earth take the job and the money so good chance you would probably do the same.

A captain should be someone who is respected by all players and who has influence inside the squad. But it doesn't matter who wears the armband, that's most times just a ego thing. The real leader/captain gets chosen by natural selection in the dressing room and on the pitch and not because a manager says so.

His old contract was until 2020, so with his old contract you think the club would let him go now? Highly doubt it

I havent heard or seen anything that stated that VVD refuses to do his job (tricky to legally define what his job is in the first place cause playing matches isnt his job), only that he was thrown out of the squad because the manager only wants players who are 100% focused on playing for Southampton. Fair enough but good luck in court with that.

So we need to keep paying him his wage while letting him rot away to to make a point? That would be 100m+ absolute waste of money on a player who doesn't want to be here. If the club wants to make a point then they sell him tomorrow to who ever wants him, players should be proud and happy to play to the club, if not they can **** off. Last year around this time i said we had almost on every position a better player as Everton. At that time only Lukaku, Coleman and maybe Barkley would make it into our starting 11 but that has changed quite a bit.
