Think it was called 'On the march'

[quote name= People generally go because they want to be part of something called Southampton Football Club, and to some that means once in a while remebering fans, friends, players and managers who once graced the stage of the oldest club on the south coast.[/quote] spot on.

Will see you in Sumners then Andy - if you are not too numbed to recognise us - giving Matt a lift. Aiming to be there for 1:30

it was around 20th December in 2007 from memory

rumour my dad heard at the ground last night was that John was keen to stay and offered to take a pay cut but only if he was assurred he would get a game

I'm going to download this as my norton subscription has expired and I understand that these are not only free but won't slow my machine down as much. I remember reading somewhere that I need to download some software to uninstall Norton completely. Is this correct and does anyone have a link? cheers John

You're correct. Think it is like chinese water torture - this is one drip too many! Also I really am struggling to see who is going to get the goals for us now

But in other businesses the customers go elsewhere if the company goes bust. Football is unique in that it has a loyal customer base (ie the fans) who will not go elsewhere. The wealthly fans I am aware of only have tens or maybe a hundred million to their name. To invest successfully in Saints you need to be prepared to pay £40m (£10m to buy the club plus £30m on stadium debt and overdrafts)before any investment in players etc. Therefore you need to be prepared to lose at least £50-60m of your own cash. They are not traitors just sensible businessmen

Can JP not have noticed that our defence is the area he must address. Most of us have, and we can't muster any international caps, top flight appearances or managerial experience (except Champ Manager) between us. So why does he still sign random midfielders/forwards? The optimist in me thinks it is so obvious that things must be happening behind the scenes and we pull a Christain Dailly / Chris Lucketti / style loan signing out of the hat.

Two issues for me here: 1) Will we stay up? Based on what I've seen I think we will stay up. Yes the defence is suspect at times but hopefully can be addressed on the training ground through better organisation and positioning. I also hope we utilise Thomas and Skacel more as their experience is needed - I do not know what their attitudes / costs involved in playing them are but it may explain why we won't see them I have concerns about our transfer policy - we seem to be stocking up on midfielders and forwards rather than full backs but I hope that this is so obvious that Jan will take action to address We have shown we can play some good footy and I think we will be ok when it comes to scoring goals. We will be inconsistent, we will lose more games but equally I believe win enough to be safe. 2) Is that good enough? Personally I have seen my hopes eroded over the last few years so that this season I will be happy with survival. I can bleat and moan about the failings of Lowe, Crouch, Wilde and Lowe again but the alternatives are not there at the moment. a) Current economic conditions make likelihood of investment almost zero and I suspect neither Lowe, Wilde or Crouch can afford to put up more cash even if they wanted to. b) Administration would be a disaster - as we would lose the ground and remaining assets (ie our young players for values below their market value) and suffer at least 1 set of points deduction. c) Whoever is in charge we have to manage the bank which means more player sales are likely in January simply to avoid administration as I suspect the drop in attendences means we are still loss making. Will I still attend games - yes: I do not like Lowe as I hold him most responsible for our predicament or Wilde as I fell for his bull**** first time round. But my passion for Saints goes beyond who is in charge and not attending will deprive me. The Doncaster and Norwich games were some of the most enjoyable games I have attended in recent years. I know a few fans who have stopped going and can understand why and have full respect for their decision, simply mine is a different one.

When Rupert told me he had signed Aston Martin to go in goal I wasn't expecting this!

Good to see the removal of any football history pre Premiership continues. Refering to our 8th place finish as our best ever.

its because the bookies reduce the odds because the two events not mutually exclusive. ie they are linked. a saints 2-0 win is more likely if Surman is the first scorer and at the same time surman scoring first is more likely to happen if the final score is 2-0

Donny? That's ruined tomorrows game for me already

Anyone remember what the 9 points were? And no, I haven't got time to trawl through the internet to find them myself hence trying to get someone to do it for me!!

45 min to get out of the city - I was on the A34 by then. Still didn't get home till 01:30 though. At least Sheffield is only an hour away for me next Tuesday!!

or we could be in the bottom 3 come 5pm. Not being pessimistic - just making the point that the table means nothing at this stage Personally I am getting more optimistic performance by performance at the moment
-
No luck for me either - any suggestions on how to get it working?

Who would be your next offload to reduce the wage bill if required?
John D replied to TopGun's topic in The Saints
because fortunately we live in a society where you are innocent until proven guilty. bwp has pleaded not guilty so we cannot do anything till after the court case -
Agreed - we played some good footy on Saturday but in the 2nd half when B'ham got in our faces more and Carsley started bossing the midfield we struggled. That's when you need the experience/aggression of a midfield bosser to dish it out - Perhaps Wooton can do this role (have never seen him play so don't know) I would also put one of Skacel, BWP, Thomas or Euell on the bench just to add something different other than youthful enthusiasm

Because unfortunately we have little experience or strength in the team and an unknown on the ability of our players at this level. Saints to win 1-0 (have never predicted us to lose so won't start now)
