After losing the three best players (Clyne, Schneiderlin and Toby) I think it would even be dangerous to sell Wanyama and/or Mané as well. With the huge tv deals the BPL is getting more and more competitive, and it's a thin line now between a top ten finish and fighting for relegation. I think Saints should follow Everton's example, and hold on to players more firmly.

It must be very frustrating for you fans that the club cannot keep hold of its best players. A whole contingent have already left in a short space of time. And now Wanyama looks set to leave, at last next summer, and United has serious interest in Mane. The Everton board handles it differently. They offer their best players big contracts. And they just hold on to them. They kept Baines and Coleman despite heavy interest, and now they do the same with Stones. Is that a policy you would rather see from the Saints board?

Midtjylland is a decent side. They make revolutionary use of the Moneyball principle and it seems to be working very well. After Everton last weekend this is again an unconvincing performance. Looks like it could be a long season ahead for Saints.

I, with many other Dutchmen, expected Cuco to really be a flop in the premier league. And the fact that he only got a two year contract is a sign of a lack of confidence in his ability. But on the other hand the Koemans see things very well. So if they think he is up to it, they might well be right. Despite Alderweireld, Schneiderlin and Clyne leaving, Saints still have a nice squad with exciting players imo. I think they might go very far in the Europa League. That would be awesome.

On football manager he is / was an excellent player. But his record over the past years is not promising. He played very few games and couldn't impress in his loan spells to Stuttgart and Valencia. I think Saints would have been better off with Cork. Cork is an underestimated player in my opinion. Does nothing special on the pitch but a very useful player. Was excellent backup to Schneiderlin and Wanyama. Besides Romeu I also have doubts about Cuco Martina. He was quite a poor player at FC Twente. And in Holland everyone was surprised that Saints came in for him. Looked like Cuco couldn't believe it himself either. I hope Saints will do well again. Looks like the squad depth will be very good, that's important.

Haha. Yes, a tour to Holland is so much better than one to Asia or America. Looks like Southampton chooses sportive interests above commercial gain. Wise choice.

Yes that's definitely true. I think if you played against PSV or Ajax, it would have been a lot tougher.

I have watched the game on Dutch television. And the general opinion here in Holland is that Feyenoord was very poor, rather than Southampton being that strong. Last week Feyenoord also lost a friendly against second division team VVV. So I would not be to impressed with the 3-0 victory.
