  1. Last game of the season, 1994, I think. Upton Park. Pitch invasions. Utterly electric. Le Tiss scored a free kick. Edge of the seat stuff. Final score 3-3. We stayed up. Best football supporting experience bar none(so far).
  2. Reboot the mascot. Free pies. Oversized Harry Redknapp piñata which players are contractually obliged to smash before each game begins. Squad of cheerleaders with Le Tissier masks. Oversized Branfoot piñata which players are contractually obliged to smash before each game begins. Fireworks. Special 'zone' cordoned off for moaning millenials and OAPs.
  3. I'm quite sure that somebody has already mentioned this but those clapper things that the Huddersfield fans have must be the most irritating footy paraphernalia since the vuvuzela and half and half scarves. Monstrous.
  4. Good times. I remember freaking out a number of people because I was so ecstatic for that goal. It was Rickie Lambert, and I love and adore what he did for our club.
  5. A very warm welcome from me, Boscombe Scummer, to the Gao family.
  6. My first game at The Dell was as a 7 year old in 87 and against Sheffield Wednesday, I think. I was well poised to appreciate the magic of Le Tiss. What a man. Great memories watching with my grandfather, old man and his mates. I think a favourite match of mine was last day of the season against West Ham at Upton Park. Relegation looming, pitch invasions, absolutely electric atmosphere, end result 3-3, Saints are staying up! Le Tiss scored from a free kick that day. Still admire the man, an inspiration. Many great memories.
  7. It could always be worse..... Does sound like it's awful though.
  8. I just got back from a trip to my old stomping grounds of Boscombe/Bournemouth and met a fair few decent Cherries fans who actually followed Saints as their second team and had done so for many years. This supposed hatred and 'rivalry' with Saints is very much down to newer fans I should think. (managed to get to St. Marys to see us completely demolish the arse on boxing day with my old man, what an xmas present that was! Amazing game.)
  9. Hope for a good competitive match. 3-2
  10. I lived in New Orleans for 8 years up until around 2012. SG's ramblings make for very unreliable fantasy. They make me cringe.
  11. For me personally it would have to be the win at Old Trafford last season. I was watching in a packed sports bar in NYC, the only Saints fan amongst a hoard of plastic Man U fans. When Tadic scored I went nuts, same at the final whistle. It was fun.
  12. I'm coming home for a month from around mid-December to mid-January and was wondering if anybody could recommend some good teams/grounds to visit? I'd obviously love to watch my beloved Saints but there may be difficulty getting tickets(was a regular at The Dell and away with my grandpa and dad from the late 80's to mid 90's, miss it dearly). I'd very much like to take in the flavor of possibly the Southern Football League but am unsure of any other leagues/what teams might be good to see. As the username suggests, I'll be staying with my old dear in Bournemouth and most likely travelling to any ground by train/bus. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
  13. Haha, yes, I was confusing upstate with Long Island, doh! Didn't manage to find a place open for 10 but seeing as it was a rather dreadful game, wasn't too bothered in the end. Actually managed to stop at Southampton Publick House Puddings, and yes, their beers are great. Also had some amazing beers/porters at Montauk Brewery and Barrage Brewery too. Well worth checking out if you're in that neck of the woods.
  14. I'll be headed to upstate NY this weekend and was wondering if there were any forum members who know of any bars that show EPL games around Montauk for this Saturday 12th September. I was hoping to find one in Southampton but haven't had any luck yet. I'll be with my girlfriend who is an Arsenal supporter so I suppose a place with multiple screens would be ideal. Thanks for any help in advance!
