Post Match Reaction: SAINTS 2-3 Aston Villa
anothersaintinsouthsea replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Not really, our style of play resulted in us having far more possession and chances. A couple of individual errors by players who've had limited game time this season. We haven't got a top 4 squad and it showed tonight. -
There is no justice in this world.

Who could've predicted all of this infighting between fans?

Adam Lallana vs Eden Hazard - The Independant
anothersaintinsouthsea replied to Saint86's topic in The Saints
Hazard has bags of talent but based on his price tag and actual end product you'd have to say he has not yet delivered. Yet.... -
If you have to tell people you're not embaressed (sic) there's a high chance that you know you should be
-
Did she ever really have it?

Lallana didn't do his squad chances any harm at all, one of the better players tonight. JRod couldn't really get in the game but didn't do anything bad. Lampard, Milner and Wilshire were dreadful in the first half. Once the second half subs came on England lost all shape and never looked like getting back in it. Most worrying thing for me was that England didn't know whether to press or drop off and sometimes did both at the same time with predictable consequences. You wonder how well they prepared given that Chile are well known for their approach.

Well done Tesco Mobile, Jaffa Cakes, Yorkshire Tea et al

Mainly as it started off as a supposedly genuine Facebook chat with someone "slagging off" Tesco mobile in exactly the same way that Tesco have been promoting their mobile service which "somehow" got put on twitter for @tescomobile to comment on. Then all the other brands get in on the act and you just know that they'll be at least 3 or 4 media types behind each desperately working out how to make their next move sound genuine and savvy. bluergh! -

Tories try to delete pre-election pledges from the Internet
anothersaintinsouthsea replied to pap's topic in The Lounge
This is a tragedy for fans of quality broadcasting: Tories have taken down "WebCameron" from youtube http://www.theguardian.com/technology/2013/nov/14/conservatives-remove-webcameron-from-youtube I honestly believe that to some extent that you get the politicians you deserve and as a country we get shower of ****e after shower of ****e. -
US Navy is much larger than Royal Navy shocker.

US blocks publication of Chilcot Report (Iraq)
anothersaintinsouthsea replied to pap's topic in The Lounge
Not surprising. The whole inquiry has been poorly managed and poorly conceived - makes a wishy washy bland conclusion all the more easy to reach. The panel was picked by Brown and didn't include one QC/barrister - no wonder Blair was able to run rings around them. -
Totally agree. Video replays/technology can only be used for objective decision making - ball over the line and offisides (in theory). Subjective decisions would only become MORE controversial with extra in-game analysis.

not really -
But isn't the maritime version of a Hercules an RFA ship? If Typhoons are mentioned in the news they're called something like a "fighter aircraft".

Post Match Reaction: SAINTS 4-1 Hull City
anothersaintinsouthsea replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Hull fans very complimentery: stantheman | Sunday, November 10 2013, 8:19PM Had an excellent, if not very long and expensive day out at Southampton. Steve Bruce is very generous and honest in his praise of Saints. They are a very good team. Especially at home where St Marys is a caldron of noise for the home team. Another unnecessary soft penalty against us which is a bit of a worry. No disgrace in defeat and a good benchmark for us at to the level we need to aspire, especially in our home form. UTT! -
A very thought provoking article by a war veteran
anothersaintinsouthsea replied to bridge too far's topic in The Lounge
Very thought provoking. The lines about wealth not equating to wisdom and not thinking of ourselves as citizens first and foremost are on the money. I'm sure I've been guilty of it but as a country we are becoming increasingly "them and us" in so many arenas: taxpayers vs scroungers; south east vs the rest of the country; old vs young; babyboomers vs under 40s; super-rich vs middle classes etc etc -
cheers for that, some of those are amazing

Shipbuilding at Portsmouth to end
anothersaintinsouthsea replied to mightysaints's topic in The Lounge
You obviously know a lot about military stuff but this is all a bit simplistic isn't it. Do you think the MoD just sat around while BAE came up with a quote? Do you think that MoD would have just accepted any old figure BAE came up with and just thought "oh well" back to the old design then? Who are the "US authorities"? and where did you get the £400m from? -
The article originally suggested his agent was Ben Thatcher but it turns out that Allen had got it wrong...

Thanks for the advice, might come in handy one day.

Surprised this thread hasn't re-surfaced already. Great irony that we hear of Brooks and Coulson having an affair for years. Prosecution currently outlining their case but doesn't currently look good for these scumbags. http://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2013/oct/31/phone-hacking-trial-brooks-coulson-affair

Yes fascinating insight into this particular problem and their culture in general.

Interesting topic. Not seen anyone so far link this to immigration. If it wasn't for immigration over the last decade or so then policy makers would actually be looking at trying to increase the birth-rate to offset the impact of an ageing population - the opposite of the consensus in the thread. It may sometimes seem like a squeeze in the UK but we must avoid at all costs what is happening in Japan where the birth rate is something like 1.3 and tax payers are becoming an increasingly small section of society.
