Great post, totally agree on the last bit. I must say that when "Barry Sanchez" came on here I did think it was "Dune". The only things that Dune would post that BS hasn't have been posts extolling foxhunting and tips for buying shares - remember his tip to load up on HMV? lol.

"The liberal's" [sic] eh? I thought it was the fault of "leftist extremists"? make you mind up.
-
If you post on this thread and link it on Facebook Mark Zuckerburg will give you $50.... As for the actual OP, you've failed and mainly because you haven't defined what "a good muslim" is or what "a good westerner" is. The first 3 would catch out any athiest, so presumably no athiests can be "good westerners". The geographical one doesn't make any sense what so ever and doesn't improve from there.

oooh you called me Mavis, you really are the wit.
-
Yeah you could argue that if you really wanted. Would be a load of toss but you could argue that.
-
post 21: my bad, you're actually claiming that the English were liberated from the Normans. Just as silly.
-
hahahahahahahahahahahaha are you going on just this thread or have I built this up over time? I'm not sure apathy for a "national day" and gazumping your silly belief that the Normans liberated England justifies that. Clegg is extreme left now is he as well? bless.
-
Out of interest, who are the ones on here with an "extreme leftist agenda"?
-
Thing is the Govt ignored pay reviews for large sections of the public sector. Why should MPs get special treatment? I think it fairly simple. They should get pay increases/decrease equal to the growth/decline in average real wages in the economy. That would focus their minds.
-
How can you possibly infer that from what I've written? You get a bit precious when others don't answer your questions but you've struggled to undertake basic comprehension. You came up with a silly notion that the Normans liberated England. I pointed out that King William I was called William the Conquerer not William the Liberator which was kind of a massive clue that the Normans weren't on a liberation mission. I've not made any comment on whether or not he was "the correct king" whatever that means. As I understand it there were several claimaints to the crown none of which has a particularly strong case.
-
That still doesn't fit with "England being liberated byt the Normans". The population of England was predominantly Saxon. The Normans came in and took over. Who were they liberating the Saxons from? They could only liberate if the majority were being repressed by a minority and they then handed control over to the majority. A key giveway was King William I's moniker. William the Liberator? no. William the Conqueror.

It's not really an issue though is it. When St George's Day passed I don't remember anyone being particularly bothered nor do I remember ever remember any sentiment that suggest we need to celebrate a national day. We're not interested, it's not that "we're not allowed". National Days are for countries that have been liberated or become independent.

Who says we can't?
-
err not true cos they don't have any good young players.

Some good fiction books about the Far East theatre I've read are "The Thin Red Line" by James Jones; "The Naked and the Dead" by Norman Mailer and "King Rat" by James Clavell. Another great related read is "Empire of the Sun" by JG Ballard.

Come on don't be too harsh they did beat Barton Rovers 1-0 in the previous round.
-
I heard a few do the same thing with Fuller and K Jones. I'm sure there's a connection there but I can't work it out.

I seem to remember someone posting about an idiot who heckled Darren Ferguson when he last brought a team down here with the line "you're a **** manager, just like your dad!". There then followed a Monty Python like comedy routine of people shouting out stuff like "apart from those Premier League titles"..."and those 2 European Cups" etc etc.

Possible Pompey Meeting in the FA Youth Cup

So what they're saying is that despite everything, they actually have the bestest academy around? -
I loved how McInnes started ranting about the problem of gambling and how they should clamp down on betting advertising - SAT IN FRONT OF SKYBET LOGOS! I'm not sure that McInnes is 100% behind the Barker appointment. You don't need to be a body language expert to note that McInnes sat with his left arm behind Caitlin but with his right arm dividing the space between himself and Barker. He also made a couple of gags about Barker, one that he was a makeweight to get Coppell and one that he was the cheapest they could find. Many a true word.....

Totally agree, I wouldn't have given a flying **** is Bialkowski, for example, post a picture of himself and David James back in our L1 days.

just from a logical view that makes sense. I'd imagine that the reason so much soviet military men and materials were ensnared by the quick Nazi advance was because the Soviet military was concentrated in the Polish territory they'd just annexed in addition to the westerly soviet states that in reality hadn't been subjugated for that long. I've not studied the Eastern Front like you have but have read a few good books that others might find of interest: Forgotten Soldier by Guy Sajer (German memoir) A Writer at War: Vasily Grossman with the Red Army, 1941-1945 by Antony Beevor and Luba Vinogradova Ivan's War: the Red Army at War 1939-1945 by Catherine Merridale Stalingrad & Berlin by Anthony Beevor

Interesting thread. Did Buchanan consider what would've happened to Britain if the Nazis had got 'the Bomb' and started to threatened our position in the Middle East? Would the Nazis still have invaded Denmark and Norway?
