  1. Haha - you don't work for the LDs do you? Given a free vote? Wow, wasn't it in the manifesto to eliminate tuition fees entirely? Seemed to be a big part of their campaign. Which way did Clegg and the top brass vote? The talk about deficit cutting is total BS. As we've been told, students will repay over 20 odd years once they earn over a certain threshold and so the costs are still being met by the Government through BORROWING. How ironic is that! They'd have been much better off reducing the numbers attending higher education to a more manageable level e.g cutting funding for courses like Media Studies etc
  2. Well I was thinking about their amazing about face on tuition fees more than anything. This will stick in voters' minds far more prominently than Lords reform which most people think is very low on the priority list. For the record I don't read tabloids.
  3. They've completely sold out which is why they will get pummelled in the next general election. They face years in the political wilderness in exchange for Nick Glegg's moment in the sun.
  4. Great stuff, always appreciate any footage of Denise Lewis, very attractive IMO.
  5. Very proud to be British today. I hope that we start to invest even more heavily in sports, really inspiring and hopefully getting the feelgood factor back in the country.
  6. Great post NorwaySaint
  7. Blimey you're patronising
  8. Well you use whatever is practical at the time. If you adopt a sensible approach over the long term then you rarely need to resort to more stringent measures. If the worst came to the worst I'd and halt the meal, pay up and leave and deal with it at home. To turn it round - is the first thing you'd do if your child was misbehaving in a restaurant to hit them?
  9. What, you can't imagine one for yourself? Really? Well I've kept the peace in my house through a combination threatening to take and taking away privelages, raising my voice, making them go to bed early, sending them to their room, and putting them on the naughty step. I'll always let them know why they're being naughty, the consequence of carrying on and that it's their choice to behave better.
  10. If an adult can't win a battle of wills against a 3 or 4 year old they probably shouldn't have had kids in the first place.
  11. Because its akin to bullying? Kids are small and weak physically, its basically cowardly. I still don't know why any adult feels the need to smack, there are loads of non-violent ways to effectively enforce discipline.
  12. Totally agree, times change. There really is no need to hit children as there are many other effective ways of getting your point across. Even more - how can it be right for a 14 stone grown man to hurt a 2 stone 3 year old for example?
  13. When were you there mate? lived there for years as a nipper.

  20. Tory MP says that Osborne should apologies to Balls: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-18778111 Quote: BBC political correspondent Gary O'Donoghue said there was a sense from some Tory MPs he had spoken to that the chancellor "may have messed up on this" because the attack went wrong and "he didn't have the evidence to back up what he was saying".
