  1. That footage is disgusting - this is from just behind the dugouts, normally the most sedate bit of the ground. Edit - doesn't get better for Serbia: photo of a Serb headbutting the England physio. ****ing racist sore losers. http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2012/oct/16/england-under21-racism-serbia-danny-rose?mobile-redirect=false
  2. Serbia have got form. Can see FIFA being utter ******s and giving Serbia a tiny fine and even giving England one.
  3. Get a grip, far far more news coverage has been given to Savile than this case. Anyway, it is news worthy and should be covered.
  4. Don't deny it just pointing out why it had been said earlier in the thread...FACT
  5. That's how it was being reported in some media outlets.
  6. eh? drop what? I'm not making any judgement on the conduct of the individuals involved or anyone else in the frontline.
  7. Exactly. Worth noting that the person who brought this incident to light was a serving Royal Marine that had been on the same delopyment - presumably he knows far better that any on here that "those who have worn a uniform and seen combat understand the split second decisions people have to make that can have fatal consequences"
  8. What's that got to do with labelling people "lilly livered Liberals"? The Armed Forces have to be accountable. Those on the front line do an incredibly difficult job but they can't be given carte blanche to do whatever the like. If there is a suggestion that certain individuals have crossed the line and acted illegally then it needs to be fully investigated. I can't see how that position can be controversial or cause someone to be labelled as a "lilly livered Liberal".
  9. Agree in general terms. People will point to isolated cases as proof of a big problem but 30 years ago these incidences would have happened in practically every game and not even been reported. There's a youtube clip of Lawrie Mac laughing off all the fruit that had been hurled at Danny Wallace during a match at Krap Nottarf by saying that we'd be able to open a market stall. The Rooney Rule is a red herring. There is no proper recruitment process in the vast majority of coaching/managerial roles. Targets are identified/tapped up/lined up and then slotted in when the incumbent is fired etc. The other problem is that there is a general sense of entitlement, particularly amongst ex-internationals, that they should be given plumb jobs without putting in the hard graft in the lower leagues or academies - look at Shearer positioning himself for the Blackburn job (how many of today's Prem managers were journeyman? Adkins, Wenger, Rodgers, Fergie, Pullis, AVB, Moyes, Martinez, Alladyce, McDermott). If black managers were doing great jobs in the lower levels and not getting opportunities then they'd definitely have a point but people like Barnes and Ince already had chances - any moaning from them rings hollow.
  10. because people are lazy and it makes it easier to create a strawman argument.
  11. I'm with you on this, why has this all suddenly come out now? He's obviously been fed information by someone ITK.
  12. Cheating is surely when you default on your debts. If Bolton's benefactor doesn't want payback and doesn't call in the debt that's up to him.
  13. This can't be true, some skate told me we were on the verge of complete capitulation.
  14. I'll take a different approach to FC and just say that this is total b0ll0cks.
  15. Corp Ho is such a gutless ****. That is all.
  16. Must....resist.....temp.....tation.........to respond......aaaarrggghhhh....I....can't.....hold......out.....any....longer false documentary evidence given that no WMDs were found. and there was plenty of evidence suggesting they didn't exist. Anyway back to OP. Torture is a remarkably unreliable tool. Hollywood always shows the 'ticking time-bomb' typre scenarios where the hero saves the day by torturing the baddie getting the info and saving the world. Life rarely works out like that. And what if the subject turns out to be innocent? How far into the torture do you stop before you realise he's innocent? Will you find out or just get some made up crap?
  17. Anyone been to Luton? Anfield? Fratton? Millwall? etc etc How many football grounds in this country aren't in pretty rough areas? Even most of the ones that aren't are in souless retail parks stuck on the edges of towns.
  18. Some of you pussies need to man up. We don't know how much has been borrowed, we don't know the repayment terms, we don't know how much it will cost, we don't know what exactly its being used for, we don't know the real identity of the lenders and we don't know how this fits in with our cash flow for the next few seasons. Concluding that we're doing anything particular risky and using words like gambling is just based on nothing but conjecture. You want Saints to be run like a business? The vast majority of successful businesses use debts to finance capital purchases and working capital.
  19. You're on to something. You could even extend the logic of Tory economic dogma and look to sell off the more marketable Royals to foreign countries or rich oligarchs.
  20. Not directly comparable really then given it takes into account all his staff and secret service. It would be massively surprising and absurd if running the world's biggest economy and being the most powerful man on the planet was less than that of a constituional monarch with only symbolic power. Does the cost include all the tax breaks and perks enjoyed by the Queen?
  21. Despite all the rivalry I actually hope the PST manage to pull it off - would carry on giving us plenty of laughs for one thing but I'm really sceptical about their model. It is £1k you'll never see again. Never ever. For the vast majority that is a considerable amount not easily written off. But the main problem is that success or failure is not impacted by one individual which gives rise to freeloading i.e. if a target was set for £5m of funds being raised one individual pulling out their £1k isn't going to make or break the deal - £4,999k will do. Plenty of people will pull out because they'll reason that they can save their £1k and enough other people put up then they'll be able to carry on OK.
  22. The accoustics at SMS are really pretty bad, you can only really hear singing in nearby areas. In ye olden days I sat in block 38 for a match against Man U and thought their support was really quiet but when watched back on MOTD you could hear them loud and clear (for example).
  23. Well you obviously do follow the line of argument but you contend that the poorest in society are still better despite rising inequality. Seems fine to me but is the supported by any evidence?
  24. No I'm agreeing with you on the stats, just felt your original statement could have been mis-interpreted. The point about inequality was that with growing inequality you could easily end up with a significant number of people becoming more reliant on welfare even though the economy itself is growing. Hence welfare bills increase despite supposedly more prosperity.
