  1. He absolutely does deserve stick. Stuck with Ralph waaaay too long, consistently telling fans how grateful we should be to even be in the premier league (we’ve only been there 24 out of 31 seasons), whilst lamenting how hard his job is giving up his weekends to follow the team, all whilst raking in a high 6 figure salary. And whatever you think about him being sidelined by SR, HE PICKED THEM AS THE PREFERRED BUYER. Oh, and he also pushed for Selles to get the job for the rest of the season.
  2. And most of that lot lost 25 (soon to be 26) league matches, our worst ever Prem side by some distance. Im not saying for one minute the management has been anything other than a shambles, but this group of players are the most inept, spineless, mentally weak bunch you could come across. It’s going to need a sea change across the club in the close season to change attitude and shed that loser mentally - that will take time. I can’t see us making the play offs.
  3. Most of that lot played against Sheff Weds (scraped through on pens), Lincoln (struggled badly against and squeezed past), Blackpool (hung on for dear life) and lost to Grimsby. Good manager or bad manager, there’s no way half of that lot can be described as easily top half championship players.
  4. Well the ones that remain own the club, so they’re obviously not going to go.
  5. This is the key, bringing in the players to suit his system and philosophy. Hopefully they’ve learned their lessons from the last two windows.
  6. How do you know we didn’t sound him out and he laughed us out of town? There was no chance he would be coming here, when he’s sat on a fat pay off from Chelsea and can swoop into a number of Premier League sides when they want a manager next year. Or take a nice project abroad out of the spotlight.
  7. Thomas Frank, that well established name that was assistant to Dean Smith and got promoted when Smith left?
  8. Reads to me like he was off to US for contract talks and Rasmus stopped him at security with a bunch of flowers and a fat cheque.
  9. It is in the public domain that he doesn’t have a relegation release clause, not that he doesn’t have a wage reduction.
  10. Wrong.
  11. He may get an offer, but we don’t have to accept it. Not every saleable asset gets sold by every relegated club - Joao Pedro, Sarr, Mitrovic, Berge etc.
  12. Ah great thread, lots of great memories. Not many left that haven’t been said, but the 2-0 home win v Fulham was a joy to watch under Poch, pressing and pure dominance. Poch’s first win v Man City 3-1 (Barry with a stonking OG). Remember watching and thinking how comfortably we saw the game out. Back to back 4-0 wins v the barcodes with some quality goals. 4-2 v City, Mane Hat trick. Man we were so good at the back end of that season. Little did we know that was as good as it would get.
  13. Yeah Robbins is another, however I wonder if he’s a bit like Jones (obviously less mental!) in that he fits a certain club really well. Carrick I don’t think we have any chance of getting, think he’ll stay at Boro regardless as it’s where he is from. I think this appointment is a gamble whoever we get in and it’s a massive job to turn the whole vibe of negativity of the club around.
  14. Agree with Cooper, he’d be my first choice and a possibility even if Forest stay up, they’re the sort of bat sh*t mental club that would sack him. Experience of promotion and knows the Championship well. Might not want to drop back down though. Vieira - don’t think he’s that great, nothing stand out in his managerial career and ended poorly at Palace. Fans I know said the football was crap by the time he was sacked. No experience or championship or promotion. Probably likely as link to Wilcox. Rafa - big name, done it before with Newcastle but doesn’t he like living up North. Also doesn’t fit the SR mould so won’t happen. Marsch - would be a gamble as no Championship experience, but does fit the SR mould as you say. Russell Martin is an interesting one - he’s at a similar point in his career to Graham Potter when he went from Swansea to Brighton, I wouldn’t be averse to him coming.
  15. Indeed..
  16. He’s been a top servant for us and the loyalty isn’t to be sniffed at, will be a loss. But it’s also ok to think he’s a middle of the road player and the fact he’s captain and an integral part of our team, is an indictment of how far we have fallen since 2016. We will miss Lavia more in my opinion (will miss both obviously).
  17. The big question then.. who is this manager that fits all of that criteria? I’ve seen a lot of talk about this, but no mention of any actual realistic names. Potter for example (who isn’t realistic) meets 1 or 2 of that criteria. I don’t think we should be dismissing up and coming younger EFL managers, just because of Nathan Jones.
  18. Who would you be going for? Genuine question, not trying to be an arse. I suspect season ticket sales will plummet in pretty much all scenarios.
  19. Mr Grant on TSP said he’s had to be subbed 4 times this season with injuries in the first half of games. That’s unlucky but also ridiculous. If he can’t handle 38 games a season, he sure as hell isn’t handling 46 games in the Championship. Call me old fashioned, but we need a solid and very dependable CB pairing next season. Don’t really recall Hooiveld or Fonte missing many games in that promotion season, we can’t be swapping between 4-5 CB’s throughout the season and expecting any sort of cohesion, this season has proven that. We need a partnership and consistency.
  20. Hatred? Really?
  21. Hepatitis I heard.
  22. They haven’t announced anything as far as I can see, rumoured to be a bloke called Adolph..
  23. 2005 I was gutted, hadn’t known anything other than us in the Prem. We were 4th on Boxing Day 2003 (I think), well functioning team and a good manager. Getting relegated 18months later was a shock. This relegation has been on the cards for several years. Circling the drain all that time, with a decreasingly likeable team and playing style. Add to that the even more disproportionate Premier League, there’s nothing likeable about us as a club or the league we play in. So nothing much to care about.
  24. Slightly different scenarios, one wants to play and the other doesn’t.
