  1. But he was a man of his word. He said Saints had to be ambitious. He said Saints had to show ambition. He said that loads of times. We weren't ambitious enough for what he was asking. So he was true to the consequences of that. I think it is right that we must live within our means. Kat has made that a condition. And we don't want to end up like the skates. So it is difficult. We have come a long way in a short time and done wonders. Everyone of our managers has played their part into taking us where we are now. We have benefited from the Poches as much as from the Pardews and Adkins. Each has moved us on. But this is a new era of greed and ambition paid for by superrich corporations and billionaires who did not get where they are by being nice. It is a modern tragedy that football has been seduced and corrupted by money. Thank goodness Kat is level-headed and insists on keeping SFC on an even keel. I don't think that Koeman has been unduly dishonest. He has played and worked at the top of the game. He is talented, wants to be the best and life is short. Who in his position would not have done the same? It is not the end of the world. We move on. And at least we won't have a lame duck manager to blame now.
  2. How many Everton players at Euros (for tapping up our lot)?
  3. At least it's good to see a queue going in at this time. When was the picture taken?
  4. The most important thing that management must NOT do now is to agree to negotiate ANY sales of Saints players before a new manager is appointed -like they did two summers ago. This is vital.
  5. Interesting. What has Gus done wrong? And are there any Chelski players good enough for us?
  6. Success
  7. You could also say that at Bournemouth's size no other club has done as well as them over three seasons.
  8. I think the reaction of many on here condemning Koeman in such vehement terms has probably made it impossible for him to remain here even if he wanted to, if contract talks with Everton din't go the way he (and his agent) wanted.
  9. That you believe most of us believed that is presumptuous.
  10. Perhaps RK recommended this, knowing that Saints would then get an excellent return?
  11. The last sentence - yes
  12. The next level of finance is likely to be with dodgy laundered money. Do you really want to go the way of Portsmouth? Is that the Southampton Way for you?
  13. But he hasn't said he would, but he will reading idiot comments like that
  14. Koxit
  15. Increase the current deal a couple of million, because RK is worth it, and we would then not lose our best players so that would be good, but not above to match Everton which would be an unsustainable level, so moving on we would have to do.
  16. but can he speak English?
  17. Like next year?
  18. If the club is categorically not going to be drawn into an inflationary bidding war with Everton and also not with prospective managers who will expect sky-high wages, then Eddie Howe would be a very good option. The fact is that at this time SFC's reputation is at a big high and top applicants would expect the very best wages that are consistent with a top six Premier League club in the group stages of the Europa League. If the club are looking to attract a manager on wages less than Koeman is already on, then Howe would be an excellent man to interview. There must also be other promising young managers out there to bring to the interview room to add competition for the post who have an excellent track record who want to move upwards. Howe is a man who is respected by players, has excellent man-magement skills, has very good Premier League experience, and has inspired a good Bournemouth side into a force greater than it's parts that, also like Saints, has performed above expectations. Regarding whether he would be able to draw top players to Saints, we have to realise that in these inflationary times we are always going to lose out to the bigger clubs (and Everton under Koeman) so we had better get used to the fact that we are going to have to rebuild our squad yet again within our means, which means signing promising (rather than established players) like Tadic was when we signed him for example. That is the bottom line. And Howe has not been a bad judge of footballing talent so far. What's not to like?
  19. So not much chance of Premier League games being played on Saturdays. boo.
  20. [quote name=notnowcat Rooney yep[/quote] i think the jury is still out on Rooney. He brings a lot of experience to a young squad and has to get used to a new playing style nearer midfield. He is not first choice forward quality any more, but I think he is still capable of some brilliant classy moments that change games. And he score goals when others can't.
  21. Robin?
  22. I suspect Ron was keen to have the money to spend on players like Mane. It was a difficult time. He was coming to Saints knowing that he would have to rebuild the squad suffering the shock of Poch and key players leaving. Now RK is demanding commitment and ambition from his players. How might that sit with Chambers returning to the club?
  23. Another dissing of young Saints talent. How old was Chambers between his first team debut and his transfer away? Do you ever give youngsters time to develop their skills? You seem to expect everyone to be Le Tiss's from the moment they set foot on the pitch.
  24. What's that?
