  1. And not wishing to be pessimistic, if we don't beat one of the top teams still to play and Swansea have a late resurgence (like the teams above them) then 40 points may not be enough. I'm banking on 3 points against now toothless Manure to secure our season.
  2. Not only the best but his emergence from the youth squads (alongside Sydenham and Chivers) was early evidence of the strengths of our successful youth programme. We all owe Terry Paine (and Ted Bates) a massive debt of gratitude.
  3. So that is what having a world class manager is about
  4. Now, now, 'won't' isn't allowed on this site.
  5. ... or other
  6. Forster was brilliant. Getting back towards England class. For a potato he played out of his skin
  7. Everyone criticises JayRod and tbf he has struggled despite his potential. But what has happened to Sims. Is he injured? Sims has put in some stunning performances when given the chance. He could be just the player to stretch Broms defence.
  8. This, unless Charlie is back first.
  9. Do you mean gilt-edged chances? Nothing to be guilty about
  10. Actually, we were very good for much of the first half, that is the first 15 minutes until Palace responded to Big Sam's shouts to up their tempo and pressurise Saints defence. Saints were pinned back and their Palarses goal was not a surprise. Then the ref made some horrendous mistakes that angered both crowd and Saints players, and we ended the last 15 minutes well. In both halves Saints played some beautiful skilful football, but were wild in front of goal. Until Yosh showed everyone how.
  11. We need points against top teams without in-form strikers, that's all.
  12. This for me sadly. I didn't renew last year (despite having been an ST holder of ten years and a supporter for over 60 years) because of the increase in evening midweek matches, and because I teach Wednesday evenings. Travelling some distance made attending other evenings difficult. 3pm matches at St Mary's on Saturdays are becoming a rarity. Perhaps the club should initiate Saturday only season tickets, with refunds for matches transferred to midweek. Wishful impractical thinking.

    Injury Watch

Our injuries are better than anyone else
  14. He kept us in the game by the end with some stunning saves. Some potato.
  15. This. Long is lethal when attacking with another striker, in pairs, when defenders are spilt.
  16. Good points, but one thing about tactics. We play too far back and tend to side pass too often when we should be pushing up as a team. In the first half we had plenty of opportunities to score but our strikers simply weren't sharp enough against a well organised defence. In the second half we were forced back but couldn't score on the break because strikers, Long in particular, weren't supported on long runs, and time again Boruc was able to comfortably collect the ball at Long's feet. Both keepers were the stars of the match and made some crucial saves. Our defence has improved but Bournemouth's attacking and defending was tactically superior.
  17. ...if the tumbleweed has been removed.
  18. It does seem to take until January for Les to get in his summer purchases, so better start now old chap.
  19. i'll go with that assessment. it will be interesting to see who will be the main scorer against Bournemouth
  20. Could be that Gabbi and Austin return at the same time
  21. Should have been 2-2
  22. Not according to ex-Liverpool Hamman who tweets that he is excellent and Liverpool should buy him.
  23. Did you see the talentless JWP score larry12?
