How to ruin a football club in less than 5 years
eelpie replied to Thedelldays's topic in The Saints
But your 1189 posts show that you really do care,TDD. And your sentiments and frustration are heartfelt by everyone (except scooby and mates) -
If we have a promising striker - send him out on loan!! Home goals scored so far - 0nly SIX. He may not be the answer, but he has been on song for the Reserves. Certainly, what we have up front ain't any good! I despair.
-
Nile Ranger - How much did we get for him?
-
46 He disposed of all our adequate strikers. Result ONLY SIX GOALS SCORED AT HOME THIS SEASON. The man is a disaster. http://newsimg.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_div_1/table/default.stm He is now putting our next generation of promising strikers in the shop window -Jamie White now out on loan - instead of giving Jamie a chance in the first team's front line, which desperately needs new ideas and skills.

I'm sort of looking forward to Saturday's match. I am expecting a defeat, sadly, but will be really depressed if we go down hoofing. We may be up against it, but for goodness sake, entertain us. Then there is an outside chance of a positive surprise.

Basset : / Daily Echo : Lowe Did not pick the team
eelpie replied to qwertySFC's topic in The Saints
He should sack himself -
Lowe hated 'arry, as was obvious on his face when he hauled Redknapp up in front of the cameras alongside Lowe's love the rugby man. Lowe and 'arry was a marriage that had no future. End of Saints.
-
Good to know that Wilde is searching high and wide for new talent in his new role as chief scout. Good appointment, Rupert.
-
Lowe is building a young team for other clubs' futures.
-
But his knowledge of football stadia (and especially how The Dell was such an important part of Saints previous success) was naiive. St Mary's was completely the wrong design with it's gently raked seating. We needed the stands to be steeper, more atmospheric and more dominating. Rupert would have found this threatening. The fans would have loved it. Rupert clearly saw St Mary's as a genteel throne for himself and his vanity. The rest is history. We would have been better off had St Mary's not been built.

Lol, ironic humour or blind sycophantic devotion? No football club is the property of the MD, and Lowe doesn't even own a majority of shares. He is a charlaton. He tricked his way into Saints originally with his reverse takeover (well documented); he has tricked the naiive Wilde (who at least spent his own money to become the major shareholder) to hand over power to himself - and he is chairman of SLH, not SFC. The soul of all football clubs are always the fans. Without soul there is no club. Lowe has lost half of Saints support. Whatever did Saints supporters do to have this amateur interferer thrust upon us? He has ruined this great club. His vanity is dragging us into the mire. Bassett is right, so the sooner Lowe's meddling stops the better. Who will rid us of Lowe - this ex hockey player who knows so little about football?

09.11.68 Saints v West Brom (H) Two nil Saints win. Goals: Channon header 20 mins. Davies header from Kirkup's lofted cross. Ted Bates attributed competent win to more accurate use of the ball. Those were the days 40 years ago.I wish nothing had changed. (details lifted from Duncan Holley and Gary Chalk's "In That Number') The law used to accompany the away fans to The Dell up from the station then too. No record of trouble though. Any actual memories 70's Mike?

Is that an 'or else!' question?

I do think that we have invested so much in the Poortvliet/ Wotte way that it would be yet another suicidal lurch into the abyss to abandon what has been achieved so far. Blame Lowe for not investing in better defenders, not these two. Boothroyd and others (who we wouldn't be able to afford anyway) would only return us to the bad days of the big hoof. The biggest danger to our faltering but definite progress is not as a result of the way the Dutch duo have got the kids playing, but the imminent selling of our better players by Lowe in the January sales.
-
Whatever next! Sack all footballers displaying arrogant attitudes. What Saints need is a team of goal-shy mediocrities. That'll show 'em, right Mr Lowe?
-
Freudian slip?
-
So, are we topping the league with 15 points, anyone? (I can't wait a fortnight for OS to update the table.)
-
I understand the point about the law, however notice that other grounds do not follow this. You surely cannot disagree the points made by me and others about poor acoustics and shallow raking of the seats. They are facts.
-
... and the spin put out by the Wilde/Lowe axis about his administrative failings were very untrue.
-
The choice of design for the St Mary's stadium was fallible from the outset. The distance of seating from the pitch (such a feature of Saints successes at The Dell) is too far from the action. The shallow raking of the stands has not helped acoustics nor atmosphere - all have distanced supporters from the game. From the very first matches this was evident, even with capacity crowds, yet these were the very same fans that filled The Dell. For atmosphere St Mary's compares very badly with Reading's tumultous steeply raked stadium and also, I hate to admit it, the fortress caravan at Fratton. So who was responsible for the choice of design? Surely someone must have pointed out the atmospheric deficiencies compared to The Dell, before the plans were accepted.

Devastating news , and deepest condolences to Paula's family. What do fans feel about a minutes silence at the next home game? (Master Bates, could you please change your avatar for this thread. It isn't appropriate here, I feel.)
-
Lowe needs to understand that it's figures of authority the youngsters need ON the pitch. Lowe loaning them out has been a disaster.
-
So how does a club in administration get a successful CVA ( and what do the initials stand for?)
-
Are there not rules about points deductions by the FA and FL following administration? Surely it is not left to random decisions? If what you say is true, then whatever league we were in, there would be another deduction the following year. Surely this can't be true. SFC and supporters had better get the facts correct.
-
So why did they sack him then?
