What did Duncan (Fitzhugh Fella) say on Radio Hampshire?
eelpie replied to trousers's topic in The Saints
The bottom line is not whether Lowe is the best available or not - based on his 'experience' as a football chairman - his current policy is negative and fatally flawed. Instead of rebuilding a lean, economical squad based on specialist abilities, he has assembled a very large squad which mixes promising talent with unplayable mediocrities. We now have too many players wasting time and money (including loan players like Peckhart) while key positions in defence and upfront have been disposed of. Result - too many goals conceded and not enough scored. this is why the paying public are deserting the club. This is why his policy has floundered and why we are even further towards administration than Lowe would want. He is failing in his objectives. -
Is the stadium mortgage with SFC or SLH? What is Norwich Union's involvement?
-
Anyone know if Pompey's proposed new stadium near the M27 is in danger of not going ahead because of the credit crunch and their own financial difficulties?
-
Or approximately half way between Southampton and Portsmouth, like Botley (closer to Southampton ideally)
-
I think this is an excellent idea. Many younger supporters will not remember the days when Southamton fans also supported Pompey as their second team, Bournemouth and Aldershot being third and fourth. It was Hampshire versus the rest! GM's ideas grate with many (me included) but often his voice is a dose of unpalatable reality. The big question to answer ourselves is whether sleeping with the enemy would not only save us from administration, but also enable Saints to keep our best players -and even rebuild a team capable of promotion with decent strikers and defenders. What a difference that would make. (Mind you, if you ask me whether I would attend ground-sharing with Pompey at Fratton Park or their new to-be-built stadium - if it goes ahead- that would be another matter! I doubt it. But would that be better than having no Saints at all? Hmm) With administration under Lowe's negative policies creeping closer, unthinkable decisions have to be addressed by all of us.
-
The OS doesn't say on what grounds the FA refused the appeal. Frustrating. Rules are rules, But they are brought into disrepute when decisions are not satisfactorily explained.
-
How this highlights the crass stupidity of Lowe and Wilde. They will forever be reviled for ruining this once great club.

If you read my past posts, you will see that since the summer I have advocated that we keep just one of either Rasiak, Saga or John. I fail to see that the wages of just one of these goal-scorers would be more than the present catastrophic financial loss resulting from our mind-boggling drop in attendances. This because of our inability to score. Each of these experienced strikers is capable of 10 goals per half season. John kept us up last year. Saga got us into the play-offs. Rasiak has scored over 20 match-winning goals a season. Lowe's negative maths doesn't add up. We will end up in the Conference playing part-timers if his madness is allowed to continue. We now have a very large squad of admittedly promising lads but who together must be very costly. Lowe has already failed to keep to his plan of an economically lean squad. We would have been better with fewer, specialist talents, including a top quality proven striker, and proven experience in the defence, like we had in Lukardi last season. Lowe's meddling with the squad is costing us thousands of paying customers -the fast route to administration!
-
Supporters want to see goals. Supporters want to be entertained. Goals make an entertaining match if they are in the opponents net - not ours. Lowe's biggest own goal is to deprive the team of our experienced goal-scorers. Stupid man.
-
..and look where Crewe are now. Take note, Rupert.
-
I know how you feel, but I de recommend that you come to matches again. Because, despite the frustrating results, I have seen better and more entertaining football at St Mary's recently than I did last season, the end of season match excepted. It is so annoying that we no longer have the firepower up front because Lowe sent our best strikers away - which is the crucial difference - but the Wolves game was an exciting nail-biter, even so.
-
Well, on Saturday in the Itchen first half I was surrounded by negative fans. (Although we cheered up during young Saints courageous fight-back, and the talk leaving the ground was about several plus factors, despite the defeat.) We all know what is wrong, and we are VERY frustrated.
-
It is Lowe's negativity that is killing the club. He is a loser. The supporters know that the best players are going to be sold. If he had not disposed of Saga AND Rasiak AND John we would have been scoring more, we would be higher in the Championship and gates would be improving. We needed to keep at least one of these three. Lowe doesn't see it that way. If Lallana and Surman go in January we will be finished.
-
Their goals werenn't against the run of play. Wolves were rampart in the first 20 minutes and controlled the centre of the park. They were first to tackles and Saints were chasing shadows then.
-
Only seven goals. Just think what it might be and where we might be now had we not disposed of any one from Saga, Rasiak and John. I blame Lowe for feeble short-sightedness, which will end in relegation if his myopic strategy doesn't change
-
Absolutely. If only Lowe could understand this basic fact of football.
-
..and me.

It is bound to be an appointment from within, so it could be anyone from Wotte to Oscar Gobern.
-
0 - 4 I fear, but I hope Saints play entertaining football to make the trip worthwhile.

How many players have played in the first team since relegation?
eelpie replied to Pancake's topic in The Saints
Thank goodness we had continuity and consistency. One good player out and one mediocre player in. Did we ever play with the same team three times in a row? -
So Lowe censors the Press!!
-
The black surround is suitably in commiseration at the death of a great football club. PS - Is that also why our web-site is surrounded in black? The new OS is a mess. The cheerful, bright design of the old one was the best thing about this club.

What did Duncan (Fitzhugh Fella) say on Radio Hampshire?

It won't be the first time that Rosy Cheeks has f'd and blinded Duncan. He was probably on the blower to Duncan yesterday. -
Rupert can hardly wait to dispose of Surman. He is our second highest scorer - and Rupert has a blind spot to anyone who is able to put the ball in the net -for us - except DMcG (who will probably be next to go, I have no doubt)
-
Nile Ranger - yet another promising striker disposed of by Rupert. What is it that he has against strikers and defenders?
