I'm sorry mate. YOU don't want Dyer. The discredited Pootvliet didn't want Dyer. Don't speak for the rest of us with better judgement.
-
You are assuming that Pearson wouldn't have disposed of some of our more expensive players. Because (scenario 1) if Lowe had stayed with Pearson there would still have been cost-cutting measures. Pearson didn't approve of the whole squad he inherited. He made that quite clear after suffering several defeats. The difference is that Pearson is pragmatic and, as at Leicester, he has proved he would have been able to work with a leaner squad, including youngsters. But a better balanced one, as you agree, I think. The question is whether Lowe would have trusted Pearson's professional judgement, or whether he, the amateur, would not have imposed his own team selection on Pearson, which would have been disastrous. Pearson would not have stood this. He would leave. So what IF Crouch had remained director with Pearson in charge of team matters (scenario 2)? Well, he had already loaned out Rasiak and Skacel, which proves that he was aware of the need to make drastic economies. Most of the expensive players he had inherited and had been brought in by Burley, not Crouch. (Who was it that appointed Burley?) And the Bank would be insisting on drastic economies, just like they have been doing with Lowe. With Crouch, as you admit, Barclays would certainly have not been so exasperated with gates falling as much as they have done under Lowe. Lowe and Wilde's spin against Crouch was effective but misleading.

In what way exactly? Are you referring to Pearson or Crouch?

....so why the feck don't we start with Saga? Once again it has been proved that the Dutch system wasn't working for us. Bringing back a better balance of experienced talent and youth with two strikers clearly works better than playing with mostly youngsters and one up front. We all new this. Only Lowe and JP didn't. Will their horrendous mistake prove terminal for us? Quite likely, but we aren't dead yet. At least Wotte is prepared to admit that the first half system was a mistake. Our fate is now in his hands. So I do hope that demos on Saturday will be aimed at Lowe and Wilde and will be contained outside the ground (which I will take part in) and NOT at the new head coach nor the players in the ground before and during the match against Swansea. Wotte may not have been our choice, but the dye is cast. WE are now well into the endgame. After the team's second half display against Norwich, he at least deserves our wholehearted support - provided he doesn't begin with the team that started yesterday. Congratulations Saga. Welcome back!

Exactly. Which is why stupid Lowe has ruined this season with his half-baked poorly thought-through policies.

"I'll agree to anything, while his knife is in my back"

To be fair, Hoddle revived a flagging team after a poor start when he took over, and had us playing decent football. This is why we were all so angry when he left. We ended the season in 10th position, despite only winning twice in nine matches after he left at the end of March that season (2000-1).

We could have been a shareholder in Barclays if it was part nationalised like the others..
-
Liable to too much handling methinks.
-
No, of course there won't. But despite our extreme dissatisfaction, we should all get behind the team and roar our heads off during matches. It is pointless venting feelings while the game is proceeding. Plenty of time to do this before and after matches. I'll be doing my bit then.
-
Sadly this message is not getting through to everyone. Some here just do not understand. There are always going to be hot-heads who will be demonstrating during matches. This will only unsettle the team. They must really not be looking forward to taking the pitch in front of some of our 'so-called ' supporters against Swansea. Leave off demos during the match, I plead too. Keep them to before and after. This is so important.

But how much is all this gardening leave costing SFC?
-
Yet another Dutchman taking money out of SFC (he wouldn't be 'advising' for nothing would he?) which could have been spent on a proper manager - like Pearson. What a load of rubbish we have been spun.
-
I have never said that he shouldn't be immune from criticism. We have been giving good opportunities for many mediochre players in recent years, especially this season. Dyer isn't mediochre by a long shot. He could do a better job for us than many. (Now that isn't going over the top is it).
-
Don't let your prejudice against Dyer cloud your judgement. As the other thread says, crap knee-jerk judgement from our fans has seen our best players leave (and do well elsewhere).
-
Crap response? Pompey are much better than most of the opposition that we have consistently failed against. It's time to forgive and forget , because Dyer is streets ahead of our players in skill terms. He just needed a decent coach and strong direction. Like Walcott used to get from Quashie. Our youngsters have really suffered because they are not playing alongside older, experienced players to mentor them. Perhaps Wotte can bring the best out of Dyer. He has an awful long way to go before he is awarded Godlike status, sure. But it could be a new start. We certainly need Dyer back now. Against Swansea.

Demonstration for Swansea game- Time and place!!

He could have used revenues to increase mortgage payments while we had the money, since he wasn't spending on better players. -
As someone pointed out elsewhere, because Jan was cheaper.
-
Wotte needs to show some positive vision - and fast - if he is to gain fans respect. He could start by recalling Dyer. Imagine the roar if Dyer were to take the field against Swansea, having knocked Poopsey out of the Cup. We need a morale boost, and someone who has found his scoring touch. Bring Dyer back. Lets see if our 'crap' fans can forgive and forget.
-
IF he keeps us up he will become a cult legend like Pearson -especially if he is sacked, lol
-
A bit of foresight, a little to pay on insurance and they could have let the fans in, even at short notice. Even if they only charged us a token £1, it would have given the players valuable experience of playing at St Mary's in front of a crowd. Maybe they wouldn't be so scared of us fans when they have a home match.

Lowe blames the fans who don't turn up. Their fault, not his, his PR say.

What league are Ujpest in?
