Who would you like to see sold/replaced in the summer?
eelpie replied to ChiefScummer's topic in The Saints
We'll have to sell them all, because we'll be bankrupted by their overweigh wages and they won't be a*sed tp play in the Championship. I'd keep Sims though. -
Oh dear, players influencing new manager already?
-
Terry Paine was the creative hub of the incredible group of players that brought us out of the old Division Three mire and up towards our first Premier League status. Saint Rushmore wouldn't be without that group of players that forged The Southampton Way - Chivers, Sydenham, Ron Davies, Channon, and more. but none served Saints as long and with as much distinction as Terry Paine MBE.. Ted Bates might not be Mr Southampton without them, and Marcus would have probably never have heard of Saints, imho. So our four most important figures have to include one from those important days in our history. So Paine, Bates, MLT, Lambert Beat that.

Noty to mention the Itchen Boat Race
-
Yes ! But keep us up first
-
But it was we supporters who demanded that Puel be sacked. And the club responded. So why would they take our advice again?
-
I can see us shipping a lot of goals in the next few weeks.
-
Read clearly needs to go to Specsavers.

Bring back four Saints players and a manager to save our season.

Shouldn't the best Ale House pub be part of this team? -
Nutshell Reed gambles on cheap options, and here we are in last chance saloon.
-
I feel very angry that Les and Kat avoided splashing out on a top quality replacement for Mane when Kruger's enormous salary could have made a difference. Kruger must be raking in a small fortune from Saints and we'll probably be paying him a wapping pension when he eventually leaves.

Comparing and contrasting with Puel: Puel gave us some boring possessive entertainment, but the team were coached better and played with good shape and structure.
-
My wish is for a controversial VVD own goal to give us the winner.
-
If Lovren plays he will host us a penalty, then crock Carrillo.

Ross Wilson appointed as Director of Scouting & Recruitment

To start in five years -
You've cracked it!

He's calling on composure from the team. I hope that this is not another word for caution.

Well look at it this way. Two relegation candidates. If we lose we have a better chance at concentrating on avoiding relegation than West Brom. So what's the preferred choice. Win the FA Cup and be relegated? Or Premiership football next season, and West Prom relegated instead of us?
-
Sadly for us and himself Redmond's been on the descent ever since.
-
Sack the whole board? You've forgotten how we nearly ended up being bought by the hedge fund that nearly destroyed Coventry by selling their ground.
-
Sacking and selling without having suitably quality and qualified replacements lined up has been Les's disastrous way of doing things since Poch left. He was lucky at first that Koeman had the clout to attract some successful players and managers, but poor decisions have been made otherwise. Add Read's cowardly policy of abandoning the attacking Southampton Way that we all love and the result is where we are now. Les Read has a lot to answer for.

...to 'we're scoring again' (or JWP our goal scoring machine)

Good. Gabbi needs time on the pitch. Giving him just five minutes against Fulham did neither him nor Saints any good. I'd like to see Long playing alongside him (perhaps bring Long on when Boufal begins tiring) to supply the speed and crosses that Gab requires. He is our only recognised striker but he needs the service. So play him MP, for heaven's sake.
